The color orange and the picture of lion struggling (if I remember correctly the lion symbolizes the Dutch fight again the water) are just as iconic for the Dutch as windmills, wooden shoes and tulips.
Well I'll be: I know plenty about wooden shoes, tulips and windmills, but never really noticed the iconic role of the lion. I guess I'm so used beavers, Mounties, Niagara Falls and maple syrup over here in Canada
