Finally beat the "From Day to Night" mission in HOMM3, the last siege ended like this:

Out of a moderately sized army, only a single Black Knight survived, with 60-something HP. Good thing my hero was Thant who's specialty is Animate Dead, that even helped to turn the tides even at such a low hero level.

Screenshot from a lazy single-player skirmish game of C&C Generals Zero Hour:

It's not, technically, a bug. The bridge was destroyed by an artillery platform off-screen to the bottom right, so, naturally, I wondered what would happen when the train crossed. As I set up to take the shot, I remembered from my own mapping experience that trains can use a special waypoint logic that lets them ignore height (like for tunnels). Sure enough, after checking the map file, it's the same for bridges.

For those interested, the mod is the superb ShockWave.

Football Manager 2011. Managed to get Welling United promoted from Blue Square South (6th level) to League 2 (4th level) in 3 seasons.

My pikemen hold the enemy's general while my archers rain down arrows. A knight falls in battle from arrow-fire in this picture

A different battle; my 1 star general, commanded by moi, destroyed Wallace utterly. Medium difficulty.

Three full armies attack my castle in Shogun 2, which is defended by just one army! It goes well...

A lot of improvements in the battle AI in Shogun, but effective castle assaults isn't one of them. After launching a decent, if obvious assault with their first army, the rest of their force proceeded to slowly walk from the reinforcement area to the other side of the map one by one, to where the general had decided to set up shop.

Sometimes in a battle there's a moment when you know you've won. Being able to launch flaming death from above on units walking slowly across the field without threat of response is one of them...

Still, I at least manage to prove myself as silly as the AI when I sent a force to wipe out their hiding general, completely forgetting that he was in a forest and, of course, had a half dozen hidden units. He forgave me by charging out alone and getting killed instantly, but the follow up force that had been hiding gave the only tense moment of the battle, and the classic crushing up of opposing forces that Total War is really good at.

A little bit of Empire total war. I invaded Cuba with the PIRATES IM INVINCIBLE ONLY THE NINJAS FROM ABOVE CAN DESTROY ME

Is Shogun: Total War II any good Kan? I've heard very mixed views on it.

That's good because, while Empire is somewhat enjoyable, I never liked it as much as Medieval II or a modded RTW. I'll probably get it as a treat after exams are over.

MTW2 was fun and all, but I still think MTW#1 was more enjoyable overall. I prefer the province system and having fewer, but more important battles.

Which relates to my next point. RE: C&C Generals Zero Hour. Does anyone else find those kind of 3D graphics to be distasteful? I much prefer the crisp detail of 2D sprites, especially if there's not much need for it to actually be in 3D. I have the same complaint with EU3 :)

Yeah, the problem I had with Generals was the lack of detail, not the 3D. And it wasn't much of a problem. In my opinion, it was the last good Command and Conquer game.

Please tell me that you at least liked Red Alert 2 and Yuri's Revenge! :(

I was inspired to dig up some screenshots from my one great MTW2 game. All hail Doge Rolandino the Crusader, King of Rome and Byzantium, Holy Roman Emperor, Defender of Christendom, Guardian of the Holy Land, Conquerer of the Mongols, and all round great guy.
