This game will be for Seafaring nations. This will be limited to 5 or 6 human players. LouLong and I created 10 maps (about 2 or 3 months ago) from which LouLong will select one randomly. The maps should all be conducive to good starts. We will try to get one turn in at least every two days.

The rules will be modified so that curraghs will have a carrying capacity of 1. The Lighthouse will give +1 mp. Magellan will give +2 mp. All water will cost 1 mp. There will be a total of 8 players (2 or 3 AI). Accelerated Production will be (optionally) on see post below.

Level will be Monarch. Barbarians will be roaming. Map sizes are (I believe) 100 x 100. LouLong will not be a participant as he is currently engaged in his fill of pbems.

Currently players:
Rcoutme
Dell19
Dogboy
Rubberjello
Random Fan
Kuningas

If interested, please post:

I would like to try this out. This is going to be my second epic game ever. The first one got stucked on turn number 2 lol

I don't suppose we could convince you to convert this to a Rise and Rule Mod (DyP). Lots of cool ships to build in that one! :goodjob:
Otherwise, I'm good to go, (Except for the :aargh: :thumbdown :nono: Accelerated Production option. I will go with the will of the majority though.

Ok, I'll leave AP up to a vote of all the players...I am actually neutral on that. The other Seafaring is AP, that was why I had this one originally that way...

Well... I need votes from Random Fan and Dogboy, also, we are still open for one more human player.

I would like to have normal production in this game

Hi rcoutme

I would like to join.

I prefer normal production. Instead we could start with extra settler and worker.

@Rcoutme: I want normal production also. I know I just e-mail you and said I wanted AP but I changed my mind.

Ok, the game is filled and the majority asked for normal production. I will contact LouLong and notify him of the map requirements. We will have 2 AI who will be given seafaring as an extra attribute (since we are playing Monarch level, I assume that they will not become too unbalanced having an extra attribute). If no other suggestions are offered, I was thinking of using the Greeks and Japanese for the two AI (as those nations actually were sort of seafaring anyways...). The other nations will be assigned randomly and all starts will be assigned randomly. The start positions will be set, but where you start will be random (thus LouLong will ensure that each civilization's starting position will be tenable, but will have no idea where anyone will actually start).

Okay that seems okay although Kuningas mentioned the idea of having an extra settler which might be useful.

Are we posting after each turn has been played? I think this is a good idea simply to keep track of the save if it stops moving for a while.

I will post for each turn started. If you wish to post, that is your perogative.

I just thought of this, and I don't know why it hasn't been tried before. Those of you who know me, know I think putting up a new post for every single stinking turn is:
1.) a total waste of time.
2.) a waste of resources here at CFC
3.) makes for incredibly boring threads for any lurkers to plow through to see how a game is going.

My idea is simply this. Once a game has been set and is starting, create a new thread. Each player checks in on the first page with a status post (hopefully, all in a row, the first 4-8 posts). Then, every time a turn is passed, they can edit this status post on the first page. Voila! At a glance, anybody can tell exactly where the game is. Any subsequent posts will be chock full of interesting events, banter, taunts, screenshots, etc. It will be free of pages and pages of "who turn is it?", "turn x passed", and anal stuff like that.

RJ : nice idea. I think I have seen it done somewhere actually, but don't remember where.
The only thing is it means all players must actually check the thread and post (= edit their post) and some players usually don't bother checking the thread (actually because it is boring, you are right) but I am interested in seeing how it goes.

I've seen the idea work at CDZ although it still doesn't necessarily remove the "where is the save posts" and it is slightly quicker to make a new post rather than edit an old one especially when important information may be on a different page. And perhaps the more important problem is that editing doesn't bump the thread or show up as a new post so the thread might become difficult to find and it is harder to check on how quickly the save is moving. Usually in the WW1 scenario I know it will be arriving soon after Russia has played.

Also CDZ runs things slightly differently as they have a separate forum for multiple player PBEMs and in general have less of these so the bumping issue isn't a problem at CDZ but at CFC the PBEM forum has a lot more posts which does mean that threads can potentially fall to the second page after a few days.

Ok, We'll try updating. Just gps with a turn or something....
