Searching For 2 Customized Items...

Since I lack the time as well as the knowledge to create some customized changes, I was hoping that someone else had created them already.

The first is the ability to build canals - on some very large maps that I've been playing, I'd like the ability to build a canal between two oceans where the land is narrow. It would have to be something that would take a considerable investment of time to complete, but the end result would be nice to have, especially if you would have the ability to generate commerce from the canal.

The second item that I'd like to have is to play the game using the flags of the countries involved instead of cheesy cartoon portraits - instead of Abe Lincoln and that big mole you'd have the American flag; instead of Queen Elizabeth, you'd be shown the English flag, etc.

Anybody know if either of these items has been created?

i agree with the canal map, im playing on a huge world map and i went to hijack the suez canal but the blasted iroquis built a city there already and it isnt adjacent to the sea so i invaded the city but accidentally installed a new governor instead of razing it.... now my galleons take 37 moves to get around africa.

@Spidoinkel - You can abandon that city and refound it. Just right-click on the city and click on 'Abandon City'. You'll need patch 1.29 for this though.

Make sure you sell all the stuff in that city first before abandoning it though.

Canals cant be done, except for building a city on a well chosen piece of real estate that has two opposite coast lines.

As for alternate leaderheads, I know of no flags, but theres alot of new graphics in the Creation Forum. Try looking in there.
