Young male prisoners were filmed being sodomised by American soldiers at the Abu Ghraib prison near Baghdad, according to the journalist who first revealed the abuses there.

Seymour Hersh, who reported on the torture of the prisoners in New Yorker magazine in May, told an audience in San Francisco that "it's worse". But he added that he would reveal the extent of the abuses: "I'm not done reporting on all this," he told a meeting of the American Civil Liberties Union.

He said: "The boys were sodomised with the cameras rolling, and the worst part is the soundtrack, of the boys shrieking. And this is your government at war."

He accused the US administration, and all but accused President George Bush and Vice-President Dick Cheney of complicity in covering up what he called "war crimes".

Looks like our "don't ask, don't tell" policy is really working.
 Looks like they forgot the 'dont film' part. All kidding aside, is it any wonder the Iraqi people despise us? Not only have we killed thousands of civilians, we've also sodomized their children. What a disgrace.

Reading this makes me even more sickened by the pathetic excuses given by the perpretrators of these crimes, who gave whiny excuses like, "We weren't taught the Geneva convention!" How hard is it to keep your dick out out of your prisoners' orifices?

Seymour Hersch is the guy that exposed My Lia IIRC.....I thought he was dead. I don't doubt that he is telling the truth. Bush is pretty lucky that he doesn't seem to have any evidence of complicity.

Jeff, I agree wholeheartedly with what you said, but I suggest you edit the post before you get a one way ticket to ban land.

great post, Jeff Yu - when these American soldiers whine about not being taught the Geneval Convention, it makes me wonder if they thought that's how human beings treat each other normally.

Yep - I bet the torture of Iraqi prisoners was perpretated by all the gay soldiers that "slipped through the cracks". Let's blame THIS one on Clinton as well.

We all know that gay men are rapists and pedophiles.

In fact, it happens that rape and sexual abuse are more about power than about sexuality, so it's not automatically gay men who would rape male prisonners. Just like paedophilia is more about "children" than the sex of the said children (and as such, many pedophiles, who are in other ways totally straight, go for little boys and not just little girls).

Perversions can work in strange ways.

Straight men wouldn't be sodomizing prisoners.

Not so sure about this. Ever heard of prison?

It's not as black and white as this.

Rape during war time is an act of control and power. Done to victimize, ashame and destroy the victim. It happens in cases like this when people believe that the victim is less than they are - sub-human even.

This wasn't an act of "I'm gay and I want to have sex". It was an act of anger, hatred, disgust and loathing. An attempt to humiluate these Iraqi men in the most extreme way possible.

Where does it say the soldiers were having sex with them? They could have just been shoving fallic objects into the prisoners.

I cant speak for the clowns involved in this, but personally, I find it damn near impossible to uh, 'perform' when Im filled with anger, hatred, disgust and loathing.

Is this confirmed yet? Because this brings the abuse to an even worse level.

The only thing lacking in Abu Ghraib to Saddam's own torture chambers now is that they cut off the hands of a few prisioners...

I sincerily hope that the guilty get what they deserve.

Regards :).

If this is all the 'reporting' that has been done on this, I'm going to have to discount it for the time being until something a little more substantial comes to light.

Yes but rape is usually committed by people that thrive on that feeling of power, control and domination.. So it has the opposite effect.

Very wise of you, Eyrei, so shall I.

Innocent until proven guilty, even with a bad curriculum...

Regards :).

members of the US congres have viewed the entire collection of tapes. They admit that what they contain are FAR worse then a few acts of humiliation... They admitted that there pictures and video of "Murder, beatings, rape and sodomy".

I'll find a link.
