(Semi-OT) FfH forum game awareness

A spellcaster that combines physical and metaphysical tactics to be an effective fighter.

Good, that's exactly what I was thinking :D

Actually my favorite RPG character of all time was a Warrior Mage, who had all kinds of spells that boosted combat stats! Thats not why he was my fave char, it was a good group while it lasted. I kind of miss that game...

More insight into the development process: this game's going to resembled Xuenay's NotW VI in some ways. First and foremost, I have included a gold system. Money will be distributed when a challenger dies in combat, and extra money will be added to the pool each morning.

However, this gold will not be used for the purpose of extra votes. Rather, it will be used to buy items for use in and out of combat. Instead of starting out with some set characteristics, players will choose how to spend their gold as it accumulates.

Furthermore, a system of wagering on the outcomes of battles will give players incentive to care about who wins and who loses even if both challengers turn out to be innocent.

Now, you might be asking, "Yo Chands-dawg, if weez awl gotz da same stats, whyz we be carin' 'bout da odda playaz? Wherez da motivationz?" Well, that's where another of Xuenay's concepts comes in.

Players will be organized into 'parties,' which they will choose once the signup thread starts. These parties will have a vested interest in keeping their members alive, and furthermore they will individually elect their leaders, hopefully leading to a more even balance of power. Furthermore, the parties will have a few hidden characteristics- which means I'm not going to go into great detail here.

I think this concept works much better in a game with 'generic' characters named solely after their method of battle. Making up stuff like "Archer is married to Rogue" really wouldn't make sense in this context.

This looks awesome. Especially the wagering part.

That's certainly what I was asking. I almost popped a cap in my monitor.

Coo! I call Liberal Democratic Party! Led by the Backstabber, of course.

(Will we be able to choose the gender of our characters like in NotW VII/X?)

"Step right up step right up place your bets here! This weeks match up the so far undefeated champion "MODERN ARMOR" against the heavily underdog "SPEARMAN" Odds are 1000:1. Place your bets!"

Can I be the bookie? :D

I so cannot wait! :woohoo:
Oh man, this is so going to suck if I die first again, I'd probably go :crazyeye:

Signup thread is almost to completion. For now I'm just using this thread because it really doesn't have anything else to discuss here (except who's going to host the next NotW- I really think someone should host one while my next game is being played).

Another question: should I have a 'homepage' thread like Unser did with UgLe games? Might be a more effective way of running things than just using the most recent signup thread and this one to talk about my games.

Edit: oh, and to be clear, this doesn't take place in the FfH universe.

If you plan on running a lot of games, then a thread for that would be good!

I do plan on that... however, I may post the Snakes and Foxes signup thread before I go to sleep tonight. If I do, then having a second thread would be overkill.
