What exactly is a Warmage?
A spellcaster that combines physical and metaphysical tactics to be an effective fighter.
More insight into the development process: this game's going to resembled Xuenay's NotW VI in some ways. First and foremost, I have included a gold system. Money will be distributed when a challenger dies in combat, and extra money will be added to the pool each morning.
However, this gold will not be used for the purpose of extra votes. Rather, it will be used to buy items for use in and out of combat. Instead of starting out with some set characteristics, players will choose how to spend their gold as it accumulates.
Furthermore, a system of wagering on the outcomes of battles will give players incentive to care about who wins and who loses even if both challengers turn out to be innocent.
Now, you might be asking, "Yo Chands-dawg, if weez awl gotz da same stats, whyz we be carin' 'bout da odda playaz? Wherez da motivationz?" Well, that's where another of Xuenay's concepts comes in.
Players will be organized into 'parties,' which they will choose once the signup thread starts. These parties will have a vested interest in keeping their members alive, and furthermore they will individually elect their leaders, hopefully leading to a more even balance of power. Furthermore, the parties will have a few hidden characteristics- which means I'm not going to go into great detail here.
I think this concept works much better in a game with 'generic' characters named solely after their method of battle. Making up stuff like "Archer is married to Rogue" really wouldn't make sense in this context.
whoo, whoo - i'll be the rogue

This looks awesome. Especially the wagering part.
