All right, i am playing and reporting in a few hours.

Current economy:

:gold: 606 : -89
:science: %100 : 186

I.T.:

Changed research to meditation to be able to bulb philosophy.
Mecca: Working more cottages. Didn't hire scientist coz we will research paper manually.
Medina: Switched mine to coast.
Seoul: Switched 2 mines to 2 wines.
Najran: Changed production to courthouse that can be whipped soon.
Kufah: Switched 2 unimproved tiles to a cottage and a scientist.
Changed some worker orders and moved settlers to the locations we decided to settle.

Turn 151:

We are the 3rd in this list.
50310659.jpg

Meditation in and bulbed philosophy Taoism in Najran.
16253783.jpg

Researching civil service.

Mecca: Spy -> Buddhist Monastery(%10 science boost for science city and ability to spread religion by missionaries.
Damascus: Catapult -> Courthouse
Kufah: Courthouse -> Market

Turn 152:

Seoul: Spy -> Wealth (will grow in 2 turns)
Settled Khurasan: Monument

63557177.jpg

Researching paper. (turned off slider)
We are first in CS and Philosophy

Medina: Spy -> Courthouse
Settled Anjar: spread taoism by free missioner for culture. Building granary first.
Whipped courthouse in Baghdad(2 pops) City maintenance was 7.42 gpt.
Building a settler in Seoul.
Didn't whip Courthouse in Najran since its maintenance is not high, it doesn't have enough food and it is only size 6.
Shaka is ready to declare on Charlemagne for all techs we have and 75 golds:)

Turn 156:

Mecca: Monastery -> missionary
Baghdad: Courthouse -> barracks
Settled Fustat: Workboat (religion can be spread to expand borders, can work fish and sheep already)
Kufah: Whipped market(2 pops)

Still nothing good to trade.

Kufah: Market -> Aqueduct (health becoming problem here)
Paper and a GS will be ready in 3 turns.

Turn 158:

I like it, but some comments

In 5t we need to discuss a civics switch. Right now it's good, I believe going HR/Bur/Caste/Pac and switching to Buddha for 5 turns to kick out another GS. Shaka is Hindu so it'll tick'm off for a bit. Looking at the scouting, Charlie is cornered so no worries from him. Once Shaka gets Feud Charlie will cap to him.

Cities are looking good, Fustat needs that chop for a madrasa. Why didn't you 2pop whip Damascus's courthouse? (I forget too:lol:)
Seoul: we can get +4:) from buildings, in caste we can run 4:science:,2 priest(Gp for shrine) Make a run for SoZ 7t (chop) will help during wartime
Kufah: get a couple wb out for Basra & Fustat
Basra: didn't net the fish on the border pop.
We can get one more 1n of iron on the west coast, not a bad :hammers: city

Need to keep our power rating up. I think backtracking to MC, use it for tradebait. Bulb Edu. We've got the Lib race pretty much won. Once Education is in, spam out universities to get Ox going in Mecca.

Trades: Charlie will do +3gpt>(anything to spare)
Shaka spices>(^^), will give more diplo for trade

I really have no idea why i didn't whip courthouse in Damascus:) Next player can switch rice tile to mine and switch production to monastery. So we can whip it for 2 pops in next turn and finish Courthouse with overflow too. I didn't calculate but i suppose this can be done. I forgot Basra's fish. Its borders expanded 1 turn ago. I was pre chopping forest in Fustat coz nothing else to do for worker. It can be used for Madrassa. A missionary is going there also. A settler is ready for west coast. I am worried about 1S of rice on west coast. Shaka may settle there. We need transport settler to settle there. An annoying spot.

I agree about Caste/Pacifism, Oxford and SoZ.

I didn't produce units coz we are 3rd in power. But we will need some.

I think we should consider our tech path. Researching education completely should be priority in my opinion. Because of universities and Oxford. Then we can backtrack for some trade baits. We don't have machinery so we can bulb liberalism too. What will we get from liberalism? We have time to think.

Looks good, mrt309 :goodjob:
I have the save, thanks. Should be able to play tonight. I will review the posts when I get home from work before playing to see if there are any additional suggestions.

1000 AD - Inherited turn
Switch Rice tile to mine in Damascus and slot in Monastery as recommended
Slot Madrassa in Fustet to make sure the chop goes there

1010 AD
Mecca - Buddhist Missionary -> temple
Charlemagne captures that Barbarian city Jute

1020 AD
Baghdad - Barracks -> Catapult
Najran - Spy -> Temple
Whip Monastery in Damascus for 2 pop w/24 overflow going into the courthouse

1030 AD
Mecca - Temple -> Monastery
Seoul - Worker -> SoZ
Najran - Temple -> Spy
Buddhism spreads to Seoul, Khurasan and Fustat

1040 AD
Damascus - Courthouse -> Market

1050 AD
Najran - Spy -> Catapult
Kufah - Aqueduct - Work Boat
We have five million souls

fivemillion.jpg

1060 AD
Mecca - Monastery -> Buddhist Missionary
Whip Madrassa in Fustat for 1 pop w/17 overflow which goes into the Work Boat it had been building previously
Remember that I was supposed to negotiate some resource trades
Trade Fur to Shaka for Spices

shakatrade.jpg

Attempt to renegotiate the corn for gold trade but after cancelling, he has no more gold left to trade! :mad:
Charlemagne did not have anything worthwhile at this time

1070 AD
We enter the Renaissance era

renaissanceera.jpg

Education in - slot Metal Casting and turn science back down to 0

education.jpg

Mecca - Buddhist Missionary -> Buddhist Missionary
We secure The Statue of Zeus

statueofzeus.jpg

Seoul - The Statue of Zeus -> University
Baghdad - Catapult -> University
Kufah - Work Boat -> Work Boat

1080 AD
Najran - Catapult -> Catapult
Medina gets Buddhism

1090 AD
Mecca - Buddhist Missionary -> Buddhist Missionary

1100 AD
Charlemagne wants to trade our Paper for Horseback Riding and 170 Gold - I tell him no thank you.

charlemagnetradedenied-1.jpg

Mecca - Buddhist Missionary -> Shwedagon Paya - this can be vetoed. It is only 10 turns in our capital and a really nice wonder to have, but I don't know if we want to pollute our GP pool here, or if we can afford this brief detour from building a University.
Medina - Courthouse -> University
Kufah - Work Boat -> University
Fustat - Work Boat -> Granary
Shaka declared war on Charlemagne
Shaka will trade us 6 GPT for one of our extra corn - this is an increase from 2 GPT he was giving us earlier so I arranged the deal

shakatradepossibility.jpg

We can steal up to Horseback Riding from Shaka so far

possibletechsteals.jpg

We can steal up to Monotheism from Charlemagne so far

Metal Casting can be finished in one turn if science is turned all the way up

The settler is in place along with a worker that can irrigate that rice, the galley is in position to bridge over a defensive unit and allow the worker to return home when finished.

I did not change the civics in my set, but this can be done by the next player, perhaps after learning Metal Casting.

I'm not sure how this war between Shaka and Charlemagne will affect us. They will probably both ask us to join in their crusade against the other.

The save ~

Looks good, I'm worried that Shaka could steam roll us at any time. Get universities, both have MC. Get Machinery for maces, Engineering for trebs then build an army and go on the front. OR wait until rifles, which we do have a good tech lead. Once Shaka gets Fued Charlie will cap to him. We need hindu to spread to us to get Shaka more :) with us.

In the next couple turns, one of'm will ask to join the war

We need universities in Damascus and Mecca to build Oxford in Mecca. We can get a GS in 14 turns by adding 2 science specialists in Mecca but we can get it faster by using Pacifism/Caste combo. But we should adopt Buddhism. That effects our relations with Shaka negatively. So using cast system only is okay for me. But there is an other option i think. We can research compass, nationalism and gunpowder. Then get music by trade and bulb liberalism to get military tradition. A big Cuirrasier army will be enough to invade north and control the whole continent.

Been pretty quiet for a couple of days here, so just checking in.

The plans discussed so far sound good :thumbsup:

I dug up our roster as well ~

stop here
Wanted to get Nationalism done do went 15 turns.
:smoke: a little on the Universities, noticed I missed one somehow so Ox can be built next turn. Go Seoul can now start pumping out some xbows and LB to fortify our border a little bit more. We definitely have the Lib race won:goodjob: Making a run for the Colossus to help our coastal GP farms.

Another idea is to start some wonders and put turns into them to get :gold: from not building it to support our army once we start to roll Shaka. Charlie will cap soon, they battled over Omdini. Shaka captured, Charlie took it back, Shaka took it back (funn to watch:D)

Sounds good, cripp7 :goodjob:

I am unable to download the save at work to really check things out, but everything sounds good so far. I should get a chance to check it out tonight when I get home.

Looks like bardsftw is up :)

Tech path: Gunpowder - Music - Liberalism - Military Tradition(free)

Oxford is priority in the capitol. Other cities can build wealth to help research. Everything seems fine.

hi, im a civ3 vet (only on regent level tho, sometimes can take on monarch). and just played civ4 for a couple of weeks (prince level, noble is just too easy) and have a difficult time adjust, id like to improve my game and learn some new strategies and stuff, is there any chance of another replay SG? id like to join if your gonna make an SG again, thanks :)

Be sure to check out the Civ Strategy Articles in the STrategy & Tips Section(Strategy/Tragedy as I call it:lol:). You can bump your play up fast, jump from noble>prince was challenging for me also. I'm monarch now, and that jump was the hardest, but once it clicked it's fun.

EDIT: can i also ask if what version you guys are playing? im using civ 4 bts... thanks :)

@team
Our original host Cialite is mia, I don't mind. 1 more won't hurt, just read the whole playlist and get get caught up on what's happening.
BTS v3.19, I'm using BUG4.3+BULL1.1 which will greatly help.
