SG for people wanting to move up to prince/improve their game

We should answer 2 questions about war now: When and Who?

If we attack before liberalism with cats and maces we will hurt our economy. That's why waiting rifles, cavs or cannons would be better in my opinion. We can settle our cities and stable our economy until that time. What do you think guys?

Sounds good. So my plan right now is to settle the white spot, and try to get our commerce up to 400 to finish CS. Then, I'll move on to paper, education, and finally liberalism. (I'm assuming that we'll be able to bulb philosophy from a GS) Don't know exactly how long all that will take, though. It's possible we getattacked before then, and we'd be sitting ducks.

We have a few choices:
- We already have a GS ready to bulb philosophy. So we need meditation.
- Beelining to optics will let us to find other civilizations. But we should research machinery too. If we do that, we can't bulb liberalism.
- We may win music race for a free GA.

We'd better wait for discussion. Because we should make important decisions now. I said i preferred war after liberalism. We can decide who our victim is later. My opinion about tech path is: CS -> Meditation -> Philosophy(bulb)

Another problem is religion. Hinduism has not spread to us yet. And it's a big loss not being able to use religious civics although we are spiritual. Pacifism will be enabled after bulbing philosophy. It means we can convert to Buddhism and run a few scientist under pacifism. That would help us a lot on the way to liberalism.

I also noticed while viewing the save that most of our units can be promoted. Should I do so, and if yes, which promotions? Also, what should I do with all our workers? Finally, which new buildings or units are we n need of at this point?

lurker comment
You don't promote units until you actually have a situation. Then you don't have to ask "which promotions?"

lets not get in a hurry to wage war, yet. I agree after liberalism, knights/maces/ trebs? I think our main focus right now is rebuilding the economy.
techs CS >med >philosophy (bulb) >paper >education.
Switching to Buddhism >pacifism to pop out a GS to bulb education, remember, if we go machinery first. We cannot bulb, education. It goes down in the astronomy line. Getting some protective archers would really help.

you do not promote units until you see what you are faced against

AFAIK if we research machinery, we can not bulb paper and liberalism but can bulb a part of education. So it's better to stay away from it. Calendar, Feudalism and MC would be nice if we trade for them.

We need a courthouse in Baghdad. Seoul and Mecca will complete catapults 3 turns later. Then we can produce settlers there for our GP farm and one more city which will be settled to west of Seoul. We can run more scientist in Mecca after producing settler and build wealth while teching through liberalism.

We have 13 workers. I don't think we need more for now. We should improve more tiles in Kufah.

Alright, so courthouse, settlers, and lib. no promotions. anything else, or should I start?

Yes, seems okay for now. So play 10 turns. If you need to make an important decision, you can stop and ask other players' opinions too.

I'm terribly sorry, but an important family matter just came up. I'm afraid the earliest I'll be able to take my turns is sunday. Is that alright, or does someone need to take my place this time?

It's okay for me.

It's fine by me, too. Sorry I have not been around as much - we have been swamped at work this last week :crazyeye:

Everything the team has been discussing so far sounds good. I think our first target of our northern neighbors should probably be Shaka. I prefer to wait on Charlemagne until we have cannons at least, perhaps cannons and grenadiers? I think we could handle Shaka with a knight/mace/treb run. It's the protective trait that makes me want to wait for cannons at least before trying to take on Charlie. Plus the fact that the sooner we deal with Shaka the better. Definitely agree with stabilizing the economy and settling our southern area first, and a liberalism run. All good ideas and discussion so far.

Look forward to hearing from you Sunday, bardsftw, if you're able to play/post then. Hope all is well IRL.

Alright, here we go. Let's see how what I did!

620 AD- assign 3 :espionage: to Shaka, 1 :espionage: to Charly.

640 AD- scout around and stuff. Shaka setles a new city near our galley. It's Jewish.

660 AD- settle Bazra in the iron spot. Start training an axe to guard it.

680 AD- build some cottages. Nothing much

700 AD- Finish Cats, start training a settler. Send a worker to start going to the iron spot, to mine it when the border pops

720 AD- Start another settler, and a spy

740 AD- Finish a settler, send him to settle the fur area. Start a courthouse in Baghdad

760 AD- Finish second settler, send him to settle the whale area

780 AD- Kaufa's border pops. Judaism spreads to Bazra. I don't make it our state religion, we don't need to make anyone angry at us for being heathens.

And here's as far as I got. How much did I screw up?
(I dont know how to put up pictures. Here's the save, btw.)

I had a quick look and everything is going very well :goodjob:

I am gonna research meditation and bulb philosophy, research civil service and paper, steal feudalism from Charlemagne/calendar from Shaka and settle a few more backfilling cities. We are gonna have one more GS 11 turns later.

We have enough :gold: to get Med>CS. Right now only Seoul only has a courthouse, Baghdad and Kufah are building courts. Once the current builds are done, next turn, start courts. Good job on the :espionage: front.

City Assignments
We have The Parthenon with +50% GPP points, let's put it to use.

Mecca: Hire 2 :science: GS due in 6, start working the cottages
Medina: Switch mine to coast for +2:food:+2:commerce: growth in 4t
Damascus: Hire 2 :science: from the ivory
Seoul: Having Great Wall pumping pure :espionage:GPP hire a spy, could get lucky and pop a GSpy for an infiltration to get us back to tech parity
Baghdad: looks good, 2pop:whipped: the court>barracks
Najran: Why is it working unimproved tiles? Chop those forests for the court
Kufah: Again with unimproved tiles, chop out a market, hire 2:science:
Basra: Start monument>granary>madrasa>court (let Kufah build wb's)

Trek that settler in Medina towards the west coast, it'll take 7-8 turn to get there. Keep 1 worker roading to Shaka, have the other start chopping the forest in Najran.

Agree almost all you said. We have a GS to bulp philosophy. Then we can bulb paper or self research it. Which one do you think is better? I don't think we need Great Spy. A few more GSs better on the way through liberalism.

Damascus: Keeping all improved tiles worked while building a courthouse and market?

Basra: Borders will pop in 10 turns and has a work boat ready. granary -> courthouse.

And what about city placement? We have 3 settlers ready. It might be good to make a dotmap. In my opinion we should settle 1E of the horses in the west of Seoul first.

True about the GS Philo bulb, self research Paper and bulb Education.
Damascus: Yes working all tiles will get a court in 18t, about 4t from 2pop whip

Basra: Ah, didn't see the wb, ok that'll work

One settler is camping in Medina, another 2S of Seoul going to the dear/2xfur/horse which is a bunk city with lack of :food: will arrive in 1t, another 1W of Damascus heading to the whale in 3t. I think diverting him to the red. another idea for the horse/fish/2xfur. Getting blu with the one camped in Medina.

Blue and red spots are good. So the settler in Medina is going to blue spot, other one to red spot and the last one is settling on fur 1 turn later. We can settle it 1S of marble too.
