very cool, oreleans can become productive. gonna sink some cash into this city... first buy that library and queue up a temple for the fast 1 culture. max food mininum commerce.

growth in 5 library in 1 I plan to push parais into the wate and flip it to us if I can help it...

Toku is sieging vandel again, that guy is a moron. that city def 3 guy is 12.2 health and toku signs peace.

broadway in 16 turns, not a chance in hell but well... tanks in 8.

toku demands we drop deal with nappy, tell him to screw off... tanks in 7. WE'll also know if we get aluminum. If not, find out where in toku's land it is and aim for it.

angle finishes whatever and it's back to chain building infantry.

shaggy is back on infantry as well.

upgrade a few rifles to infantry.

I lost tokyo sorry. we did out best in terms of culture and wasn't enough. keep in mind tokyo was all about denial and we did that very well.

go radio after industrialism and put djinne on rock and roll.

after that get flight and we have bombers. important kit.

spend our gold on upgrading the rifles we have... another war is gonna break out and we'll prolly be invited.

if we apply enough pressure on paris we can flip it.

tanks in 7... oil and coal is all hooked up.

Who's up next.
Whoever it is they have my full permission (which is worth absolutely nothing) to beat the crap out of toku as soon as we get the first tank off the production line. How dare he throw Tokyo into a revolt and attack our somewhat good friend Nappy (I'm only using this as an excuse).

No really i think we should try to get toku to declare war on us. Not only would it mean we would take most of his cities and make sure he has no chance to ever recover but we will keep our defensive pact with persia and get better relations for our mutual military struggle. It will make Persia switch to a war economy and send them down in score while we take toku'scities and go for domination.

^The ideas above are only to be used, tried or tested at your own risk. Sir Toma is not liable for any damages to your civ game while using his plans.
 
I thikn we held Tokyo for a respectable length of time. As you sa y Liq, it was all about the denial, but it was going to be a push to hold it much longer.

I completely agree with Sir_T though, we must liberate the people of Japan. I believe regime change is in order as soon as we get tanks.

By the way, anyone have any idea how long it'll be until tanks? ;)
 
Poor Tokyo. It's borders evaporated too quickly at the beginning. From then on, it was like trying to push a shoelace uphill. Nuts. But what ya gonna do?

My turn? Poor Sir T. Maybe Sir Toma will have to take 20 turns for his turn if Scowler picks this up before him?
Downloading now. Maxing builds in Orleans is smart, Liq. If we flip Paris, and lose Tokyo, I'd call that a slam dunk. (We'll retake Tokyo next time Toku goes crazy)

We are so close to 80% research, gonna grab it when I can.
I think catching up on techs is that important atm. I want our Industrialism
done soon!
I also swap our City Defence II rifleman guarding the stone resource with
a grenadier city defence I. If bad things happen, I'd want to keep my city
and lose (temporarily) my stone.
Upgrades needed for border troops, will see what I can do with my planned
increase in research.

lol. Gao is filthy with specialist artists! Heh heh.

PigPen was close to growing again, so I made a merchant and slowed growth.
Bank will really add to our cities income, and the merchant will help too.
(Hope I don't screw it up)

I found two workers slacking off in Marooned, sent them to work on the
rail gang. I'll try to avoid working the forest/mine tiles like Liq said.
Heh Heh. (Just kidding, Liq)

Looking down from the stratosphere, I count four of our cities as unhappy.

Looking at the diplomatic screen, we have lost our defensive pact with Sally.
No worries, but it makes buffing up our western border that much more
important. Cyrus is still in a pact with us though, and Sally remains pleased
with Lurkerism.

HC has flight! Gee, we need to catch these fools, and fast.

Kushiku finishes Colosseum, starts factory (in Que)
I enable "AVOID GROWTH" at Kushiku, it will be unhappy and unhealthy
with extra pop, will be unhealthy with factory anyway, but whatever.
It can build a grocer next to get healthy again.

Paris is feeling our culture, heh heh. Orleans should topple Paris
unless Toku has a mitt full of Great Artists we don't know about.

It may be a little early, but I take the -4 hit, and bump research up
to 80%. We need to start reeling these techs in.

2.1864
Grocer built in Djenne, start on Hindu Missionary
PigPen builds Bank, start on University
Walata builds aquaduct, starts on Hindu Temple


I MM a few cities, got our new French towns growing quicker to grab
those tiles before Toku or Nappy can.
I also return a mine to Gao from Marooned. Gao could use more hammers
to finish the factory

(Since we don't actually need fission right now, will hang onto him
for SG to debate about his uses)

I cancel our deal with Saladin. Who traded Uranium for his Banana's?
Well, we aren't doing that anymore. I traded our deer for his Banana's.
Try to avoid trading strategic resources to civ's who don't deserve it,
like in a permanent alliance or something. I bet it was one of those,
here's a trade, accept it or we'll hate you things. It happens, but
it's over now. Find your own Uranium, Sally.
*In hindsight, I must have read the trade thingy wrong. Whoever made that trade was a genious! My bad.

4. 1866 AD
Angle builds Infantry, starts on Mandir
Courthouse built in Marooned, starts on Bank
Orleans builds Hindu Temple, starts on walls

Maxed out on happy atm, is already unhealthy

Hinduism spreads to Besancon.
I send our spare missionary on a scouting mission towards Hatty's
Empire. Looking at what Saladin has been up to on the way.
If we can, should try to spread Hinduism wherever we can.

6. 1868 AD
We get Industrialism!

Marooned discovers an Aluminium resource. Nice.
Moving Missionary through Saladin's land. It looks like his eastern cities
are garrisoned by three to four average units. No surprise attack eminent.
He must have mobilized everybody for his war with Alex in the west.

Now Saladin has plastics! Ugh.
On the other hand, Anjar is at 45% Arabian.
I wonder if Anjar ever flip to us?

Broadway in 9, and lots of our people are angry with us.
I really hope we get Broadway.

Orleans builds walls, starts on Buddhist temple.

I decide, on my own, that we need that Great Scientist working for us.
We get a +50% boost in beakers if I build an academy.
I build an academy in Gao ; our #2 research city.

Go from 120-152 beakers in Gao. Got a culture boost as well.
You can yell at me later, but fission? We need lots of beakers, one tech isn't
going to make much of a difference here or there.
Feel free to cuss me out, but what's done is done.

I change to representation civic, for the research
and happiness. Way too many of our citizens were unproductive
demonstrators. So many of our own people are unhappy right now.
In fact, I'm getting a little angry myself.
*We clearly win two wars, are the most cultured civ on the planet, and they are angry? Boo-hoo, suck it up. So you get an apartment instead of a ranch house, deal with it citizens.*

Switch Rheims to Colosseum, too much unhappiness still in that city.
We need to buy the Colosseum, and fast.
I enter into a permanent alliance with Cyrus; we get Communism, Facism and Artillery in the deal. Nice, huh?

We are still behind, but I hope we can catch them. Cyrus gets Plastics
in 1, so we should get that too, right?
I hope you all don't hate me, but I had to take big risks to get us back
in the game.

IBT: Cyrus GIVES us hit musicals! That's what I like to see from my Ally's.

That turn was all about building Colosseums. We have a major happiness problem. Mostly about overcrowding, but some of our cities want to join their homeland too. What's that all about?

I think our next tech must be Medicine. It should solve our overcrowding problem, and with hospitals we can improve health and get our people back to work.

Research is coming along, but I am amazed at how fast the other civs are gobbling up techs. Some wonders can be built, like the 3 gorges dam, Hermitage still needs a home, and we ought to get the forbidden palace put somewhere.

We have over a thousand gold stored up now, in a couple of turns we can swap back to Universal Sufferage and buy our happiness in troubled cities.
*EDIT: Notice how we went from Radio in 10, to Radio in 4... in TWO turns? Wow
Anjar dropped in size from 9 to 3 during my turnset? Cool...

Great work with the Perm. Alliance with Cyrus. It should get us back into the game (well at least partially).

I'm pretty sure its my turn now so i'll grab the save and play in a few hours.

My aims:
Strengthen economy.
Catch up in tech
Watch Monte very closely (he's been acting weird lately:crazyeye: then again he's always like that)
 
those mass artists in gao (I never did that!) are kicking sweet ass on anjar. it will flip soon, whoever set that bomb up gets a :goodjob:

Think I forgot to mention that in my turn log.. I was laughing my ass off when I opened up gao and closed it before I could screw over that setup.

We need air cover. Fighters and bombers are required to back up the tanks to support one another.

This game is like prelude to WW1, it's a powder keg just waiting to set off.

I have a wee little problem with the save.
It keeps coming up with "Failed to uncompress file" or something like that and it won't let me load the game. Can someone else get the save and see if it happens to them. I have never had this happen to me before. In fact i was playing my turns for my other SG before it and didn't have any problems (except rampaging aztecs attacking my cities but that always happens to me anyway:D )

I got the same repeated error message.
Thanks to Auto-save, I played last two turns (1870-1872) and followed my turn-log. I hope this works for you now Sir Toma.

In order to avoid your disapproval, I saved the game, restarted my pc, and then loaded and was able to play the save. It should work... cross your toes and think happy thoughts when you download the new save.

Turn Order:
Liq -- he must be moo'ing or something
Luv_Muffin -- finished
Sir Toma -- Next! (missed turn)
Scowler -- On deck
Percinho -- On leave
Sir Toma -- waiting impatiently for himself to play new save

I was thinking about what to do what that nest-egg of cash we now have.
Maybe we should upgrade our aging grenadiers/riflemen to Machinegunners/Infanty at Marseilles, Shaggy and Orleans?
Mostly Marseilles though. If Monty gets ideas, would be nice to have him beat his head on a wall of promoted/upgraded units. May save a few units to upgrade to marines too.

Cavalry can be upgraded to gunships, once we get flight.
Research is going so quickly because our beakers are added to Cyrus's beakers for rapid research. We should catch up in tech's quickly.
Grab Flight(only Cyrus and us will have bombers & fighters), then medicine (should only be a few turns), then back to rocketry?

We still need happiness, but taking all of Cyrus's +1smiley's made that less urgent.
