What are the techs that have a chance of giving the SGL?
The HOF tactic isn't quite that simple. In addition to selecting the designated SGL tech, the AI has to be stacked in such a way that none of them start with the specified tech. This also has to be balanced with another typical HOF tactic, being that of selecting eight Scientific AI's.Tomoyo said:They just pick the cheap techs that can pop easy SGLs...
After all that, then you get the fun of going through maps one at a time, playing each until that tech is complete just to find out if you get an SGL.
Not everyone in the HOF plays that way. A lot of players just drop in to play a game to fill an empty slot. There's not much competition on those.MeteorPunch said:...Off to start the "n00b HoF"![]()
Well, I was speaking about empty slots in general. Since Quartermaster's Challenge rankings are based primarily on HOF game rankings, people are targetting the #1 slots like there's no tomorrow. It's the other nine per table that usually stay free.Tomoyo said:Hey, I tried to just drop one in, and it just happened that two other people also tried to get the slot in the same update, and now space is after the slot.![]()

The legal exploits are part of the fun. The illegal exploits are why there's a judging staff.microbe said:and exactly the reason that I stay away from HOF and GOTM. Competition inherently encourages cheats and exploits.
I understand, but there are a lot of empty slots, and the majority of them are Fastest Finish tables, not Score.Scuffer said:To get anywhere near the top you effectively have to play the game in a very specific way, and try and get that extra 0.1% over your rivals. Fine if that's your thing, but ICSing to the dom limit and MMing it really doesn't appeal. Still, if some people enjoy it...
