I agree, I don't see the point in pillaging some reosurces that you want in a city that you want to capture yourself.. all you're doing is making extra worker turns (not to mention more turns without the resource hooked up). With the gems online, the extra :) helps all our cities...

The save

A bit more animated... I start off by doing the trades as I suggested...
In 335 our power compared like this, look at peacefull Gandhi go?!?!?!

350 ad I dow Cathy and on the next turn the first kill is made, seeing as its a HA and I dont have any Spears... Some spears are ordered up post haste...

I am expecting much more, so I keep hold up in Heliopolis for more to come... It takes her till 410 to muster up another HA which pillages the Pasture on the cows. That same year Taoism is founded
I find no good chances of taking out the HA, so I send in a Chariot in hopes it will retreat... But to my surprise... The RNG must love me....


I cannot take it anymore, If this is all she can throw at me in 4 turns... We are gonna walk all over her...
So I start moving out to Yekaterinburg... In 455 the defences are down to 0...

But a HA, a Spear and a City garrison 2 Archer await me... First I sacrifice an Axe... Then a Sword losses at 68%, the next sword takes the Spear, the one after that takes the HA. The wounded archer survives agonaly long, but the Axe prevails and Yekatering bur is razed...

On my way south I pillage the Horses (hopefully no more HA's) and Pillage the Gems in Cathies teritory (that we can see) I hope it hurts her...
On the Iron mine North of Moscow a lone archer stands fortified... and is promptly killed...

Since there is Buddism in Moscow and we are now next to it, we get to meet the founder of buddism, Cyrus. He offcourse is freinds with Cathy so we get -1...
 
The Pillaging chariots run into Yakuts... and find a Archer/settler trio, they run back into Yakuts tho....


A couple of HAs jump out of moscow at our stack there... I didnt bring any spears yet so its a slaughter (I will spare you the details) and So I retreat the cats as the spears catch up...

Meanwhile I am trying to sneak around Moscow with 2 Chariots, but they get picked off by spears as well... :(

As the stack returns to moscow with Spears this time, we kill an HA, an Axe, Lose a chariot (with medic :cry:)

The defending spear gets a promotion tho, so we have a new medic :)

All that is appearently enough for Cathy as she commes a beggin for peace... But somehow she doesnt like my offer ;)

heliopolis is about to get rid of the -1 happiness of whipping but will grow one more, so is whippable again...

We have a galley heading our way

So I started a galley on our east coast (Pi-Ramesses I think) to try and defend our nets... Suggest whipping it.

If I havent meantioned it before, the new town I founded is building a Obilisk, suggest whipping that to aid in culture building. Then start a Library after that (again Culture) to get to that border on the east ASAP.
Also I left a workboat on a goto to the fishes near there....

And finaly the situation at moscow, which was severly hurt by me not bringing in any Spears to begin with and losing 2 chariots trying to go around Moscow...

 
1) Except for buddhism in Moscow - is there any other religion spread in egypt right now?
2) I can't tell if you - as VQ - are going to go for domination or diplomacy right now. Are you decided on this?

Because if you're going for diplomacy picking up hinduism and spreading it might do some help IMHO. As for domination ... If peaceful Gandhi is getting big (in pop or land) this might make it impossible for you anyway. Or am I mistaken :confused:

I believe the game was setup to force us into a Permanent Alliance with Gandhi regardless of whether we were going for Diplomacy or Domination.
 
Got the save. Will be playing in 3-4 hours if anyone has input or other thoughts.

Do you mean, that Gandhi's and your territory will then count as one? I didn't know that this is possible with AI Civs. But I never tried though. Well this would make things easier. Did I get U right?

Edit: What is going on behind Yakutsk??? Maybe you'll find a land connection to gandhi? That'd be good to know. Cause if there's still room enough to settle you might want to move in before your AF buddy does.

Yep. PAs count everything together, so an OCC can go for a cultural win by PAing with another Civ (see n0x 02 in the SG forum).

Getting the PA is the hard part. And I'm sure TPTB (the powers that be) made sure that PAing with Gandhi and riding his coattails to victory wouldn't be easy.

It might be easy, just will take too long to have any reasonable chance at winning or placing in the SG.

That's what I meant by 'victory' :D

EDIT: Anyone remember that old computer racing game where if a cop tried to pull you over, you could line up behind him and he'd lead you to the finish line? That was great. :thumbsup:

No land connection, a small waterway (coast-coast) seems to excist tho... Either to Gandhi or Cyrus...

I wasnt expecting more than 5 or so units in moscow :cry: after she wasnt sending in any troops

@ChrTh Did you take notice of the defence present at Moscow? Geez, I was expecting Cathy to throw that lot at Heliopolis. Either I moved to fast or Cathy was determained to sit on her troops in Moscow :(

Moving around moscow would seem hard as well, As she will pop out one after another, just killing our stack...
 
There are 9 defenders in Moscow, whereas excluding cats, we only have 8 attackers. not good enough. Need to bring at least 2 more axes to counter the russian axes. I would continue the siege and bring the reinforcement. Hopefully, Cathy is dumb enough to attempt breaking siege, thereby wasting her defenders.

We have to take care of her, whatever it takes. The longer it takes to eliminate Cathy, the less likely it'll be Team VQ wins the Golden Laurels. If we make peace with her again, she'll remain a thorn in our side and it'll get increasingly harder and harder to get rid of her. Check her current trades and see what she's getting and pillage what she's giving.
