SGOTM 01 - V Q

Yeah... I'll just wait to see how this all works out (ideally before my turn!)

Well, I just got home. Good thing you played ChrTh because I didn't have time.

What does the red message say for the PA with Gandhi?

What does the red message say for the PA with Gandhi?

"We're doing fine on our own"

Or as Eric Cartman would say, "Screw you guys, I'm going home."

So any PA with Gandhi is out. I agree that we should suck up to FDR.. how well do FDR and baldy get along? We want to make sure FDR would NEVER vote for Gandhi.

How about we setup a phony war between US and US vs Cyrus?

Where is this message from Gandhi comming from? Most likely from beeing the most powerfull right?
Can we give som units to FDR or Cyrus that will make them stronger?

Looking at the scoregraph at the SGOTM-progress-page it looks like "team one" have finished their game. :undecide: Suddenly their score jumped somewhat over 85000.

Hmm, most porbably some qad domination. :shake: I prefer watching ideas being born like ... gifting the UN. That's better. And more fun! :)

Faithfully Yours, .

If I had to guess, Gandhi has reached the Modern Age (by researching Mass Media). We're only one point ahead of them, so we're not too powerful for them (besides, the message would be different), and to be honest, unless there's a points-related trigger, I don't know what could've happened in that last interturn for him to change his mind--outside of him getting two ages ahead.

I'm going to play the rest of my turns according to the plan I posted. I'll keep an eye on Gandhi, he might change his mind (if it is age-tech related).

:hmm: no longer shows that ... I wonder if the mods have removed it while the game is going? ... ah yeah, they've suppressed it (per Maintenance Thread).

Congrats Team One (if you see this).

 Hmm ... I have no other explanation. The last time I checked ... all their graphs had a tiny little + at their end. Must be the mods. Maybe not wanting to cause ... "mass hysteria" :crazyeye:.

The last submitted save is usually hidden untill the game is finished.. so that the other teams dont know the exact year they have to beat :)

So if we can't PA with Gandhi, we have the following options.

1) Conquer the Americans and Persians

2) PA FDR and conquer Persians

3) Build UN and gift it to FDR and go for diplomatic win

4) Go to war with Persia bring FDR in and then try to win diplomaticly (not sure if this would work).

Am I missing anything?

@Gyathaar Well doesn't really matter to us anymore :p

@Team - you know their base score seemed kind of low for domination, they might have done a PA

eektor, you forgot

5) Gandhi builds UN and we win by garnering FDR's votes. We should be able to get to +10 with FDR without fighting Cyrus...the question is whether that's enough to win.

If Gandhi builds UN, I'm probably going to divert to Biology after Communism for the growth. We should be thinking of maxing population at this point. Seriously, our best chance of an earlier victory at this point involves not fighting anybody.

Agreed on the no fighting. If Ghandi builds the UN, then any attack we made would only hurt our points with all the other AIs. There's just no safe war.

So we need to start cranking the population and land control up. We should also keep an eye on relations with the non-baldy powers. I'm not satisfied with nuking our relationship with Baldy tho - if someone else builds (or gets gifted) the UN - then Ghandi's vote for us is pretty secure right now.

The *only* reason to attack any one at this point is if we beleive that the diplo victory just won't happen and we decide to go for the pure domination win. In which case - we've got our work cut out for us.

Agreed, 100%. What else can we do to assure we have FDR's vote (unless we're gifting him the UN city...) has he/can he get bribed into the war with Sally? Or would that not matter (not sure if we would get more mutual struggle bonus)

Good point. I would suggest we click on the concentrate on food in about half our cities so we can start growing our population quickly, or would you want to do that after we get biology?

To get FDR's vote, we'll have to do a few things.

1) Go to Christianity. This is just to erase the -1 penalty. I have no idea how long FDR will remain in it, but if it is awhile, this will grant us a bonus after sometime. That gets us to +7.
2) Go to Universal Sufferage. This is FDR's favorite Civic. We'll get a Civics bonus once FDR gets Universal Sufferage as well. This means that we might want to do the Universal Sufferage UN Vote to get it to FDR earlier. Note that I will not be going to US until after we've eliminated Sally.
3) Give in to every single one of FDR's requests. He wants Clams? Enjoy! In fact, we should do the same with Cyrus, just in case we need his votes too (although that's a longer journey)
4) Sign a DP after Sally is eliminated if FDR is willing. I don't think FDR will attack Sally because they're friendly, and we don't have anything to bribe him with.

I'll scan the cities and see what needs to be done to grow them after we've eliminated Sally (war weariness skewers the picture). Our builds need to be based on population growth: granaries are a priority, especially in Sally's territory. At the same time, we must keep building military in case war becomes a necessity.

I think we would hit the happiness/health limit soon if we concentrate on food long before we research UN, so no point in focusing on food and losing research/prod.

I still think we should spend some turns improving our economy by spreading the religions we have a shrine for, while building up more adequate militray in case we have no choice but to attack FDR. Or, if you guys feel we won't be attacked, start some cities on wealth/research production to hasten our research pace.

I doubt we would be attacked... the only two possibilities would be FDR and Cyrus. As long as we're friendly with them, they won't backstab us...

Right. Fortunately TPTB didn't put in Alexander :gripe:

EDIT:
I'm going to encourage growth, not maximize it. And I will be checking to see the monastery situation before acquiring SciMeth.
