SGOTM 02 - The Real Ms. Beyond

I'm against settling on the copper - we need to get access to it in Osaka anyway, and settling on it leaves the new city with next to no food, as well as leaving us without a coastal city on this continent. Given that this next city will stall our economy for some time to come, I think it needs to be more than half a city. For the sake of a handful of turns spent building a mine, I think it should be NE of the copper. If the copper weren't such a priority or if we were creative I'd probably be advocating the plains hill 1E of the stone.

I think we can afford to settle off the copper. I'm just worried about when the barbs start coming. Then again, until we can get that copper connected, we can probably defend with just warriors. Good thing it won't be my turn when the barbs start coming

Lets come to a consensus, then I'll finish my turns.

One last note at that. The third turn I played to reveal the copper was 2800 BC, or the 40th turn. Should I just continue to finish playing seven more turns, or should I play five/ten? I don't think it really matters if we don't follow every 10 turns sort of thing.

Okay - it looks like the team consensus is to build the next city 1NE of the copper. I am outvoted, but that's okay. If we always did things my way, then it wouldn't be much of a succession game . What I'm most interested in is that we have a gameplan that we're all on board with, so that we're all doing more or less the same things.

So is Pottery->Writing okay for the next tech path?
Obelisk->Warrior->Settler in Osaka?
Whipping the next workboat in 6 turns in Kyoto (the turn after this current one completes)?

Those are my suggestions for what to do - any other thoughts?

Archery? How many turns until the barbs start appearing? We also need to scout more ... so much to do ... so little time.

fair enough - might be a good idea to pick up archery down the track and use them as fog busters.

I think we have a pretty good idea of what to do next, and in agreement. I'll finish off the seven of my ten turns, and we can go from there.

T3 2800 BC – Bronze Working comes in, Our worker begins to chop the forest. I start the revolution to Slavery.

T4 2770 BC – Anarchy Over.

T5 2740 BC – Nothing

T6 2710 BC – Hinduism FIDL

T7 2680 BC – Worker completes chop

T8 2650 BC – Obelisk finishes, Osaka begin warrior. The worker begins to road gems.

T9 2620 BC – Workboat in Kyoto finishes, I whip the next boat

T10 2590 BC – Workboat finishes, begin Warrior in Kyoto. I decided on working the crabs for the extra health point. With the warrior completing next turn, and the crabs, Kyoto has enough health and happiness to grow back to size 4. Exploring workboat sees tasty clams beside Cattle Island.

*Note, I decided to play an extra three turns in order to go back on track with the turn numbers.

T11 2560 BC – Warrior completes in Kyoto. Barb warrior appears south of Osaka !

T12 2530 BC – Barb moves onto gold hill.

T13 2500 BC – The barb impales itself on our defending warrior. Pottery comes in and our worker continues a road towards where our next city will be.

We have now completed a total of 50 turns.

Here is the situation around Kyoto. I think that Cattle Island was placed there purposely for another city. I suggest we found a city there are some point.

Here is the situation around Osaka. As you can see, the worker has already began roading outside our borders. One of our warriors is protecting it. Our other two warriors are guarding our cities.

I believe Compromise is up next, but I think he is away this weekend. I think we can discuss, then Compromise can continue on after he comes back.

Question? Do we have hunting and archery yet?

Looks like we got Pottery and started Writing.

Er... oookkkayyy. Dom't come crying to me when all our villages are pillag-ed, our women a ... whatever. Just being loony. Whose up now?

Diplomacy:
We've met Isabella. We will decide whether to eliminate her and take her religion, or to keep her has a close ally, if Buddhism spreads to us.

Technology:
We've got Mysticism, Mining, BW and Pottery. Writing is up next. If we want to found our own religion, we're going to want to go to Code of Laws, or Philosophy. We've also decided that we want Archery at some point, to have Archers as fogbusters? (Edit: We're also going to want AH and Agriculture at some point too (Edit again: And Masonry if we want to work the stone))

Settling:
We've settled Osaka. We're going to want Tokyo one tile NE of the copper, one tile SE of the stone. That way, we'll fetch the copper and stone right away, then fish when borders expand.

Builds:
Kyoto will continue to build workboats. Whip (?) a library when Writing comes in.

Religion:
We want one. Whether we take it from Isabella, or we found it on our own. CoL or Philosophy if we want to found our own.

Great People:
Run 2 scientists in Kyoto once the library is completed.

Civics:
We've switched to Slavery. No civics show up for quite a while, so we don't need to discuss that for now.

Hello all, I'm back in e-contact. I'll catch up with the posts over the next couple hours and offer any suggestions that occur to me. Looks like our posts-to-turns ratio has plummeted, and that's probably a good thing.

First thoughts, since I consider it my duty to muddy the waters whenever possible: What about putting another city on the plains hill 3E1N of Osaka? 3 floodplains for food, a grassland gems or two that it could share with Osaka, fresh water, plains hill site for defense and extra shield.

I'm not wedded to the idea, but it was the other decent option that I saw, so I thought I'd point it out.

Also: why did that workboat over in Kyoto work the crabs before circumnavigating stone island? Knowledge is power.

Still pondering tech choice...leaning toward Archery because the barbs are coming and we can't but much fog.

Compromise: Theres still a workboat out there exploring. In other words, Kyoto has made three workboats.
