SGOTM 02 - VQ Red

Just to say: I'll be busy during this week and probably won't be able to play, so please skip me if my turn should come up.

Ok, save is up, sorry it took me so long. SO much going on, both in the game and for me at home... Sorry again for holding the save so long.

I'll give a full report in the morning... but the short & sweet:

1) Hatty is down to one city, Memphis.

2) We are only at war with HC. I took peace early on with KK (didn't give up anything important, just a little gold) I also sued Hatty for peace on my last turn, taking all her gold.

3) Took me most of the turnset, but I took care of a big cavalry pillage party dropped off on the mainland by HC.

Anyways, the save is here: http://gotm.civfanatics.net/saves/civ4sgotm2/VQ_Red_SG002_AD1730_01.Civ4SavedGame

Hmmm ... I thought there is gonna be a "full report"? :mischief:

Anyway, I played. Did a few tweaks here and there in our empire. Few things to note:

- Do pay attention to city management, some obviously better tiles were not worked on.

- We do not have enough workers. There is ton of tile sto be improved in Osaka land, and even cities that are cut off from the rest.

- Trading: I did a few re-negotiation, and managed to bring us to positive income.

- Don't understand why culture is 20%.

- Don't understand why the Cannon at Kyoto was allowe dto build to halfway and not whipped

Next, my turnset .... the highlight is this:

Okay, fine. I shall remove the mole off your face.

His only invasion is this:

Which I promptly decimated, at a lost of 2 cats and a grenie (at 88.8%). I have also taken Tainjin, which is defended by a pitiful rifleman.

Made a dubious decision ... Giza. It is so cramped in between Bismarck's and Mansa's culture that it has 0 tile to work on ... no pont keeping such a city, me think. So, i did the extreme executive decision:

Right, I gift away for free. It is useless to us anyway, only serve to drain our already-thin cofers.

We learn Steam-Power at the end of my turnset, heading towards rifleman (for a counter against Cav). I had also assembled a strike force for Operation Mole Removal.

Move them north and have fun.

OK gentlemen. I have some serious stuff to tell.

As some of you might remember I got started on my first job in July this year. This is still draining quite some of my energy. And since a few weeks I've got a new relationship going. So real life is really eating up some time. Which is beautiful on one hand but on the other it only leaves time to play during my weekends. So I hope that you'll allow me to drop from active player to weekend player. I still try and mostly manage to check on this every 48 hrs - at least. But I hardly have time to play during the week. :(

I hope you'll not be too disappointed. I really hate to take this step but it seems necessary. :sad:

Any comments?

Kind regards from Germany's south, .

Congrats on the new relationship ...

Don't worry, everybody moves through different phases, and there are times when you feel bored even if you have 9 ongoing SGs (:eek:), and there aare times when you can't even focus in one.

Thanks for the heads up. In that case, I'll propose we put you out of the roster rotation, and that you simply post a got it whenever you are free to play.

Have we lost Codeman and armstrong too? :eek:

I'm now back in pocket, but predictably the RNGod has arranged things so that I'm currently up in my other two SGs. If Maquis can pick this up now, things should work out nicely for me to collect it on Wednesday.

i do apologize team. had a hospital issue which prevented me from getting to a pc. damned appendix. what's the purpose of appendix? doc said i didn't need it. came out of nowhere. had cramps in my side, thought it was from jogging. (i'm really out of shape and decided to try and fix that). by end of the day was in the ER. long story short, after surgery infection.

now i'm fine, just sore.

Glad you are feeling better Codeman. Good to have you back in the program.

as no one has played since i did 'got it and i still have the save, i will play today/tonight and post in the am.

before i do, i will read through the posts and try to remind myself of the direction we are going. any and all input from the team is welcomed. if i recall mao declared and we are preparing to crush him.

and thanks, glad to be back. hospital food wasn't to bad, just not enough of it. i'm a big guy and i like to eat. they don't seem to go with that to well. and i never want to see jello again. why do they put jello with every meal? :)

off to do some reading.

Ah, the appendix. Lovely! :rolleyes:

Glad to read you back here, Codeman. Well ... not to be too sarcastic, but ... jogging did put you in better shape, hum? :twitch: ;)

Welcome back! :thumbsup:

well. played until 1780ad. the force greyfox had prepared was target practice for mao. mao has artillery, and rifles primarily. i saw a couple cavs. i have rebuilt and landed a larger force on mao's land. they are currnetly sitting on a hill waiting for battle orders. i whipped kyoto evrry 2-3 turns for grens to deal with rifles. have now started rifles. currently researching RR. building mre lumber mills on osaka for production help. trying to keep kyoto size 12-13 so it will work coast tiles and give us :commerce:

next player may want to whip some cannons and rifles in kyoto. i don't remember, do we have grocer, market, and bank in kyoto? might be good idea to whip these... :hmm: west point can be built. if we plan on keeping slavery for whipping kyoto is the place. if we will abandon slavery eventually, where should we put west point?

mao may be small, but with better military units it's gonna be hard. just keep whipping kyoto. don't stop.

Don't think Kyoto can take another NatWonder ... it already holds the Globe and Heroic. Osaka is the next natural palce.

Hmmm ... mao having artillery would be a tough point for us. Artillery! :eek: that is very bad! If it was only rifles, enough grenies and cannons would make short work of Mao. Even infantries can be dealt with. Artillery is different story.

yeah. his arty made light work of our inititial troops. lost all but one cannon and one gren. i think we can still do it with numbers. suicide japs. :hmm: when have we seen japs willing to kill themselves in battle... need more cannons!

FYi~right now only tech we can research not all other civs have is RR.

Okay, now that the roster is a mess, who is UP?

Let's see, before Codeman's pick up, maquis is UP, so let's resume from there:

Maquis == UP
GreyFox == On Deck
Codeman == Just Played
Scowler == ???
Arnstrong == ???

Dot == Maybe Weekend

On a related note, play as many turns as you feel comfortable with (minimum 10!!) ... anybody can tell that interest in this game has waned ... so let's try to get this game over with as soon as possible one way or the other.
