SGOTM 03 - Geezers

I think I'm going to need a swap on this too - it'll be a couple of days before I have time to play my turnset.

I take it for tonight. I got it.

Mark - UP
Thrallia - on deck
Simon
Sam
Dagnabit-
Htadus- just played

btw I fear I'm going to be leaving Geezers for SGOTM04. The next SGOTM looks an intriguing challenge, and I've hugely enjoyed playing with you guys on SGOTM03, but on reflection the time commitment involved in fully participating in the SGOTM discussions, reporting turnsets, etc. is too big for me :-( So for the time being I'm going to confine myself to the single-player GOTMs.

But thanks for having me in SGOTM03 - it's been great being in the Geezers team, and I've learned quite a lot about Civ in the process.

IBT : exchange world maps with Hatty and vote for the UN

6) 1782AD : take Andahuaylas

We make peace with Huayna as he is down to one city in the icy north
gift Alexandria to Hatty

7) 1784AD : make peace with Khan as Mansa is not at war with him anymore
take Izumo

IBT :nothing

8) 1786AD : nothing

IBT : vote for the UN Secratary

9) 1788AD : Nagasaki falls

IBT : we are elected as secretary

10) 1790AD : capture Nagoya and Yokohama and Toku is history

All wars are ended now and all war weariness should vanish, so all cities need some treatment next turn. We lost some fishing nets to are maraudin Japanese frigate. These have to be rebuilt.

Very nice demolition of our enemies mark. :goodjob: The Glance screen makes good reading too. :) If we can maintain all those 'friendly' and 'pleased' scores the next diplo vote should prove interesting.

@ MarkH -- I guess you maintain your Geezers' executioner title.:D But I am glad you took the initiative to finish toku off. Now lets get these Cities growing.

Good work. This should be very interesting since Hatty might Vote for us. And who knows, maybe JC might think we are worthy.

Lets bee line to get infantry and tanks. Why? I don't know.....to make more converts.

That were quite some entertaining turns.:)

In the secretary election JC again voted for Monty. :( He still must have a better relations with him. Hatty gets interesting now. Does gifting money improve relations ? If so, maybe we should consider to gift some money each turn to Hatty and JC.

Who wants it now ? Thrallia ? Simon ?

Well I won't be able to look at it today but should be able to tomorrow, so depends if Thrallia can do it before then?

unfortunately I won't be able to until tomorrow either....however, I know I won't be able to do it over the weekend, so perhaps I should take it next so I can play tomorrow and Simon can play over the weekend(if he is able, that is)

Sorry to hear this. :( However, as we all know, there's only so many hours we can devote to the luxury of playing Civ.

Btw I expect to see your ranking in GOTMs improve with the extra time available and your increased knowledge of Civ. :p

I would take it Thrallia. You were next in line on mark's last roster anyway. Hopefully there won't be too many more turns left to play. Crosses fingers.

Bloody cheek! :) I bet you'll be wanting a share of my score in the GOTMs next :mischief:

By no means. :) Merely encouraging you to achieve better and bigger accomplishments..... :p

By the by I should also offer belated congratulations to mark for his part in the performance of Team Shaka in the latest Civ3 SGOTM. :band:

Thanks. I had the honour to play in a great team, too in that competition. :hatsoff:

Obviously Thrallia did not find the time to play, so Simon is up. If you cannot play, too, please let us know, so Sam can take it for the weekend.

I'd hold on that another 12 hours or so. Thrallia IIRC is based towards the west side of the USA - it might still only be early Friday afternoon for him. If he hasn't checked in with a completed turnset by Saturday lunchtime UK time, I'll take over and play before the end of the weekend.

Turn 0(1610AD): I decide to sweeten Washington, Hatty, Cyrus, and Julius by gifting them a tech each. Up culture to 90% to remove starvation and WW in all cities. I should be able to get rid of this next turn...
IBT: Nothing
Turn 1(1613AD): WW disappears. Slider changed to 60% science...we can get Assembly Line in 6 turns for -86 gpt, or 5 turns for -700gpt...so I decide for 6 turns :)
IBT: Nothing
Turn 2(1616AD): Trade Radio to Vicky for Assembly Line, WM, 230 gold. Start research on Rocketry
IBT: Monty declares war on Izzy
Turn 3(1619AD): Diplo Win vote held.
IBT: Nothing
Turn 4(1622AD): Got 586 of 762 votes required: 1230 total
Geezers(378)-Geezers
Monty(123)-Monty
Hatty(90)-Abstains(+7)
Cyrus(87)-Abstains(+9)
Julius(83)-Abstains(+7)
Mansa(83)-Geezers
Khan(81)-Abstains
Gandhi(67)-Geezers
Izzy(59)-Abstains(+4)
Vicky(58)-Geezers
Washington(55)-Abstains(+6)
Louis(38)-Abstains
Saladin(25)-Abstains
Huayna(3)-Abstains

Trade Radio to Washington for Railroad, WM, 420 gold
By my count, we are 176 votes short. If Hatty and Cyrus would join us, that'd be 177...which would have given us victory. Julius and Washington would give us overkill, but its nice to have 4 choices for victory.
Also by my count, if we take out Louis and Saladin, that gives us 63 votes(and the jewish shrine), giving less room required for others to help us. Saladin could be an issue, because Julius, Mansa, and Washington are all friendly with him. But no one we care about likes Louis anymore...therefore I'm positioning our troops around his cities to see how things look.
IBT: Izzy makes peace with Louis
Turn 5(1625AD): Set all cities to Emphasize food
IBT: Nothing
Turn 6(1628AD): Nothing
IBT: Nothing
Turn 7(1631AD): Diplo vote held
IBT: Nothing
Turn 8(1634AD):
Geezers(386)-Geezers
Monty(124)-Monty
Hatty(90)-Abstains(+7)
Cyrus(87)-Geezers(+10 appears to be the magic number)
Julius(84)-Abstains(+8)
Mansa(84)-Geezers
Khan(82)-Abstains
Gandhi(67)-Geezers
Izzy(60)-Abstains(+3)
Vicky(59)-Geezers
Washington(56)-Abstains(+7)
Louis(38)-Abstains
Saladin(25)-Abstains
Huayna(3)-Abstains
IBT: Nothing
Turn 9(1637AD): Rocketry>Industrialism
IBT: Mansa offers Combustion, WM, 1230 gold for Rocketry. I agree
Turn 10(1640AD): Nothing

Summary: Relations improved all around. Cyrus now votes for us. Julius is now +8 and Washington is +7. If we take out Louis we'll be very close, if we go against Khan again instead we could win. Rsearch proceeds quickly. I also freely gave away a lot of tech to the 4 civs we like. I wish they would demand stuff cause if we agree they'll like us more.

lol, oh ye of little faith :p

OK I'll take a look at the game soon. Sounds from Thrallia's write-up like I'll be declaring war on Louis soon. Can anyone recall if we'll have any outstanding war weariness from previous wars with him?
