Next turn set.

I think we stop the non existance advance on the western front and concentrate on the east at the moment and after QSH contiunue with Toku.

Maybe whip some of the forges so we have galleys/triremes for defense/attack. Continue onto get caravels for ships. apart from that not a lot esle can I think of.

I think we should see if we can bribe Izzy into declaring war on Toku, as she hates him anyway...if we can, then we could soon begin a western offensive as well, if we have the troops and galleys available.

The roster order is

Lehm - on deck
Conquistador 63 - in the hole
hellwitch - waiting
da_Vinci - waiting
Thrallia - waiting
g_storrow - just played
Scout 214 - waiting
Ronnie1 - UP NOW Will post some plans after I see the save.

It looks like we need to raze Qin's city and see if he'll go for peace.

We need to reinforce Kagoshima after that as Toku will surely counter attack. What should we whip coming out of anarchy? I see 3 choices, Barracks, CH, Library. I vote Barracks and then troop production.

I intend to whip the CH in Athens and the Forge in Mecca.

We need workboats for West Isle.

We can speed up the forge in Westbridge (5 turns) by working the mine instead of the cottage.

Are we interested in the NE in Karak at this point?

What is our next Tech? It looks like we are heading for Optics.

What am I missing besides where to build our troops?

First of all, why do we need the NE? The HE of course is a must have but the NE is not as valueable as just continueing produce troops. It doesn´t give us anything useful.

Then I agree to raze Qin´s city.

In Kagoshima the only thing we can whip now is the barracks. CH and library cost too much people. But barracks is okay.

Both the CH in Athens and the forge in Mecca can be whipped. That´s an excellent proposal.

Speed up the production in westbridge makes sense to me too as after the next growth in 15 turns there will be only food tiles left which can be worked then.

Optics as next tech only makes sense when we want to cover our galleys with caravels. I prefer engineering before optics. Maybe even knights before optics.

Our tech rate is a bit too high at the moment. We should reduce the tech rate to 60% or 50% now to have time to get more money from conquering. The Qin city won´t give us very much.

NE will be usefull in Athens as there are 2 free scientist already. the keshiks will be best used for pillage vs Toku. As we don't have force to continue our offense on the East IMO we could send our new troop West with the idea to attack Asoka's cities near the barb city. The troops in the east must keep our current position after razing Qin's city. Toku already want peace and will give us money + gpt . So we can make peace with Toku now but IMO we can make pillage before that(with the current keshik)
Research - Eng is next IMO but we must slow down it.

I tend to agree with Lehm on this point, I think we build nothing but troops and maybe a few CH's for the remainder of the game.

Research is a key point for this turnset, we need a consensus on what is next. As this is a vanilla game, no trebs, I think we go for Guilds next, unless we need to start protecting our galleys.

Eng will give use +1 movement on roads and pikes - they are very needed to counter knights. IMO Eng then guilds as i don't want to oblosolete keshiks even faster too(They will be more usefull for pillage as keshiks and later can be upgraded). About NE - maybe R1 is right - troops till the end. But HE can pay itself in hammers very soon so we must build it ASAP.
If we go for domination - FP on the main continent is a must.

agreed that NE is not needed...those hammers are better invested in troops.

I agree we should go engineering->Guilds, after that I don't think we really need any more techs, other than possibly Optics or Drama(only for culture slider for happy)

I personally wonder if Athens would be a good spot for the HE, I dont' have access to the save right now, but it must have hammers if it built the Pyramids and Library there.

We definitely need more galleys, as we don't have enough for either or eastern or western offensive now. After we raze Qin's city, and if we peace Toku, do we want to do a quick hit on Cyrus after that? Or do we want to attempt to start the western offensive against Izzy or Asoka(note: Izzy doesn't have longbows yet, but Asoka does)?

How do we know that Izzy doesn´t have longbows? Mh, you probably saw it in the techtrade menu. When I remember right Izzy isn´t that bad in score. So she should get longbows soon. But as she is the closest neighbour to the west I think it´s absolutely worth attacking her first.
But I am a bit doubting if we really should go west next. It´s a bit a waste of our troops in the east as they won´t have anything to do. And it will take us a while to reinforce the eastern troops. We don´t need to build more galleys when concentrating on the battle in the east. So I think it´s better to keep sending forces to the east until they are stronge enough to move on. Then we can go west.

@ C63,dV, & Scout,
Do you have any input on tactics or techs before I play?

I was going to play later today, but may wait until tomorrow.

The consensus seems to be for Engineering next, and continuing to send troops east.

I like Engineering for the reason hw stated. I'd like to see us building troops - maces/cats/keshiks mainly while pikemen are not available.
Maybe redeclare on Alex after peacing Toku and Qin?

are we going to build any triremes to help destroy opponents galleys?

I think maybe 1 for the west and 1 for east might be required.

I agree with thr regarding more galleys. we have troops but nothing to move a lot of them. It didn't help i lost two of them.

Travel and some other RL issues have kept me busy of late ... not sure I had any great wisdom to add during that time anyway.

Looks like sea lanes are becoming problematic ... and I worry about our lone city on mainland being at risk.

Qin won't make peace ...

Toku wants gold for peace ... should we do that? He said he has samurai now, maybe we need peace to reinforce?

Or maybe build a wall? I don't usually, but we have no culture defense anytime soon in our lone mainland city.

Maybe what we need is to take and hold the big greek city, to create an industrial base on the mainland to slowly rebuild the east army, while we send new troops on a west assault? Sea lanes in the west are safer I think.

We can get Open Borders with Cyrus and Asoka ... I think we should. At least with Cyrus so he does not block our sea access west.

Qin says he has a chariot ho ho ho ... is that the best he has got on offense? Seems his ships are the biggest pain ...

Had a quick look at save.

I personally think the questions next are what do we do to get QSH for peace cos his caravels will become a pain.

What front do we attack on next?

Unsure on both those points. I think we might as well continue to attack japan as we are already at war with him .

Just another point for R1 why build the christian missionary in kaka?

Peace with QSH is only possible by building units. We are 6th in the soldiers rank list. Not good! We one and only thing we need is units to be able to make peace if we have to. And I think we really need peace with QSH although he probably wants a city when he finally will be willing to make peace. So my suggestion is to build troops in Karak after missionary and same thing in west bridge after forge. And same thing in all othe cities. Otherwise won´t be able to demand anything. We should make Open borders with Ashoka and Cyrus as they are friendly people and we might be possible to trade techs with them in the future. We are backward so it´s necessary to trade techs. I think we should send all units to the east to have a defence there and upgrade them later into an offence...
