SGOTM 05 Maintenance Thread

I really don't understand how it could be misinterpreted at all. A spoiler thread by definition contains spoilers. An End-game spoiler thread contains spoilers for the end of the game, which of course you're not allowed to see unless you've finished your game. Not to mention the precedence of all previous games. What's there not to understand?

I have (now). Of course, they are only available for completed games, so you will not see them for SGOTM 5 until it is finished and the results are declared.

If previous SGOTMs are an indication, you will be able to submit new saves after the deadline. However, teams that are not finished by the deadline will not be eligible for any awards.

I'll repeat. If more than one team want an extension, and suggest a reasonable new end date, then I'll accommodate you. I don't want to kill the competition for the sake of a few days, but equally, I don 't see why teams who worked to the previous guidance should have to wait for ever for those who ignored it. So far, I don't see any alternative, supported proposal.

Up to a couple of weeks is not excessive. More than that would be taking undue advantage of my legendary generosity

The Real Ms. Beyond have gone into rush mode with virtually no discussion between turns to make the Oct 31st deadline. The team played this way based on the previous reaction to an extension.

I've NOT polled the team, but I suspect there is no longer support for an extension from our team. I personally have no interest in an extension at this point after playing on night that I shouldn't have played civ (hurt some RL stuff) to make the deadline and keep the game moving at a fast clip.

Well, we are playing according to our name (although we kept our 24h/48h rule quite well, we are just hanging in this too long). Old and slow. I doubt we will be able to finish before the 31st, but no request for an extension from the Geezers as we won't get an award anyway. We will up the turns per set to try finishing before the deadline, though.

The "Mad Viking" (not the forum member of that name) is out of town. I can 't open a sign-up thread without a game to describe, so we're in a holding pattern until Gyathaar gets back or we run out of fuel..
