Turn 270, 1280 AD: You have discovered Metal Casting!
Turn 270, 1280 AD: Thespis has been born in Beijing!

Turn 271, 1286 AD: Isabella adopts Bureaucracy!

But here is my recap:

Turn 0:Bit of micromanagment, switch tech to metal casting since Sal has drama, should have done Feudalism but whatever.

Turn 1:"Peace treaty with Sal expires" WTH? I thought that i had to wait just a TEENY bit longer than one turn to kill Saladin. Ah well, why am I complaining? This is where the fun begins:ar15:

Also make Medina Christian.

Turn 2: Double civic switch to Theocracy and HR. 2 turn Anarchy but whatever. Also barb city near Asoka almost dies to Cyrus but doesn't. Also spot Indian galley with settler sailing around. hmmmmmmm

Turn 3:Raze Damascus:ar15:

Turn 4:Izzy makes peace with Toku

Turn 5:Raze Bagdad:ar15:

Turn 8:Barb archer comes to assist the Saladin campain. Wasn't any real help though.

Turn 9:Raze Najran:ar15: Got 2 Free workers as well. That was his 2nd last city so I ask what he will give me and he replies with a already half-completed metal casting. I wanted Music or Drama at the very least so you know what that means:ar15: Alex demands that we stop trading with Asoka, I told him to get lost.

Turn 11:Asoka completes the GL:eek: and the barb city of Angle also falls to Cyrus:eek:
But the good news for this turn is that after that sneak attack that he gave us at I forgot when, payback has been achieved.
In other words, I raze the last Arab city:ar15:(forgot the name) already sent the fleet to go and get the army.

Turn 13:Finish courthouses in both Arab cities. Whip archers in BOTH cities since I don't want 2 VERY experienced Axes just doing city garrison work. This turn is when I finish the 2nd Dyes so Asoka offers the Dye for Gem trade and I accepted. Izzy offers 600 gold for HR but since she is our enemy I reject

And that is about all that i interesting that happened. Random notes:
  • China has Ankor Wat in Beijing. Someone mentioned that they wanted to now where it was.
  • China also has the Taoist shrine.
  • Persia set up a city where our old New Sarai was:mad:
  • Angle is lost:(
  • But so is Arabia:)

One minor comment. Methinks you lost sight of the tech extortion from Sal before finishing him off. Edit: Sorry. Missed it in the description.

Time to move troops to both defend our lands a bit from Cyrus and to remove him from OUR lands.

Let the cities grow now that we have a nice happiness level. Whipping when necessary is fine, but overdoing it slows us down excessively. Whipping is best when done in emergencies, when you are ridding the city of non-working citizens, or when the production can be maximized... when a city is 1 turn from either finishing its product or from growing.

We are still at war with Cyrus. Move troops to Samarkand before he takes it from us!

Now that we have been discovered, it is time to sell our maps. We can only sell to Alex at the moment, but we could get all his money. Same with selling older techs. If someone wants to buy, sell! We need all the help we can get, and we must take advantage of all the methods we can get to gain funds to keep our research and economy going as well as catch up in techs if we can.

Build troops. We must have troops at home and ready to go abroad. We can now be reached by everyone (except Qin), but that can happen also in theory.

Every city needs two-three defenders. Mix and match. Archers (longbows, soon), spearmen, and axemen.

Where do we want to build HE?

After kicking Cyrus off our lands, do we want to make peace with him? It might cost a tech, but might help against backdoor attacks.

Suggestions: Take Cyrus's city. It's where we want to be anyway. Send the settler in the capital down to the little block of hills to the south to get a production city started. Get workers first chopping to clear grassland, then hills. The city needs to grow first, then produce.

Be a lot of reading... How about we hold on just a hair, then ask AlanH to drop them. I'm happy with our team. :goodjob:

I'll play this tomorrow night.

I don't see any point in dropping teammates if we're not planning on having anyone added, honestly.

aye i would have extorted sal no matter what benefit, 10 turns of him with one city? hehe ohwell, i guess thats the way the cookie crumbles.

wow turned down 600 for HR? ummm.... i would have taken that, our economy stinks atm, i guess softnum will do some mean trading for us when he starts up :).

I guess we should keep an eye on asoka's relationship with anyone before we declare war on them. Mind you, we are at war with cyrus from start so no matter :). seems asoka doesnt like alexander at all however.

Tokugawa is lining up to take the barbarian city of nubian. I guess in hindesight it would be hard to make any barb cities survive. Cyrus is certain to have a go at Thracian, unless he is too scared of asoka's culture. I would be.

I assume Cyrus has quite a fleet to go along with his distant island expansions. He is a long way from home, even that city he built on the island to the west is likely to be high on our list of cities to conquer. To build that far from home, even on our continent... there must be some valuable resources there yet to be uncovered.

Playing now:

1328AD: Took Cyrus' City

Cyrus wants SIdon for Peace. I laughed at his hollow threats.

SOld Issy HR for 480.

1346: Sold Alex Map for 410

Cyrus wants 690 gold and CoL for Peace. WW isn't that bad, I told him to piss off.

1352: Unfortunatly, selling Alex our map allowed him to circumnavigate.

Tarsus is Cyrus' city on the other isle. Only a longbow and a spearman. OUr entire military could prrobably take it, but..

GOt another GP, sent him to Turfan to build church of the Nativity.

THa'ts it. Uploaded. Most of the Cities I checked are in 'growth' mode. Our Happy cap is high right now.

I've got it. I'll be playing tomorrow afternoon.

I plan on shifting most of our building to troops. We are basically past the builder phase of our civ except for here and there patches, I think.

We can make peace at a cost. Do we? Or do we station a couple of galleys for protection?

Open borders with Alex is possible now. I will take it. Maybe we can trade something.

I know we have little discussion here, but I had proposed a tech line for research and had at least one person agree with no objections.

We might consider adding compass to build a couple (only) harbors for the +50% trade. Right now, it is 3 turns out.

As Alex is at war with Qin, I intend on taking all our useful troops directly to Qinland in hopes of gaining the capital. New troops will be left as garrisons. Keshiks are not great on attacking cities. Great for quick movement and pillaging. I will build cats, a couple of spears, maces (I will finish civil), a galley or two and maybe a longbow or two for defense after arriving. I don't think I will manage all of this in my turnset, so we will have to get to Qin in the next.

It appears we will only get new wonders by capture. Any objections to trading stone away for whatever useful can come of it? Money, perhaps. Maybe another happiness item.

Sorry I screwed up your tech order.

My RL is getting very busy anyway, so I'm just going to drop to the skip roster till it settles down anyway.

well, it is an interesting game. Yes we can go for compass but after CS. We also need machinery for maces. A somewhat long -term goal would be to beeline cavs and crush everyone(VERY long term)

The only 2 cities of Qin's that are any good are the capital (duh) and the taoist holy city. Since it also has the shrine, check its importance before the desicion.

Sttangely enough, Qin does NOT have longbows yet. Although he could be getting them soon, I would hate to miss an oppurtunity like this.

Quick question. Is it worth gifting something to Alex (perhaps a dye) to improve our relations? Same with Asoka, though we have less he wants (stone?).
We are currently at -1 with both of them.

Doesn't sound like we have plans for the stone, and we can always cancel after 10 turns with no penalty...

A preparation turnset.

I tried the gifts to Alex and Asoka. It didn't seem to help any. I canceled them after 10 turns.

287: Open borders with Alex. Trade dye for cash.

288: Converted to vassalage for the experience points.

290: Qin has feudalism now. Longbows, anyone? :(

292: Finished CS, started mach

294: Sold map to Asoka for 200

295: Peace with Toku for CS.

296: Finished mach, started compass

298: Finished compass, started guilds

There are three galleys on post near Qin, with a fourth arriving this turn.

I sent the spare? workboat to explore Qinland once I noticed it asleep. Qin's capital has 4 longbows & 1 cho-ko-nu.

We are now out of funds and have to reduce research again. We are looking at around 20 turns for Guilds.

It occurs to me that it might be better to take Qin's holy city first instead of his capital. He has nicely spread his religion, so taking it would deny him the gold it raises and would give it to us instead. It was less heavily defended when I passed by as well and our force is a bit on the light side.

well 1st turn asoka builds on our main continent.

moved ships and units to the heart of china.

killed a cyrus galley

refused peace for CS offer with cyrus

refused asoka's request to change to buddhism

refused alexander's request to stop trading with asoka

lost open borders with alexander and asoka? not very nice.

lost 1 catapult and 1 workboat. Killed 1 galley, 1 chokonu, 3 horse archers

oh yer... almost forgot... Turn 310, 1520 AD: You have captured Nanjing!!! :)
Qin shi used new great person for golden age just after.

our score going well, we have played well ahead of other teams, so we can relax a little i guess :)

there are a couple units ready around out capital to transfer to china. 4 ships on way back, another under construction down south with 1 maceman and 1 under construcion, I think we may need to tech towards astronomy? our galleys are becomming obsolete.

Need some more catapults put on to build, and perhaps a market in our capital, also you may want to whip that maceman there this turn to help push along the market a bit, i didnt whip once in that round so as to not stunt growth, capital at 12 now however. so whip it! whip it good.

Heroic Epic? i think we need to build now, i put it off then to get some unit production so as to hit beijing quick enough, but it can be built in under 15 turns i think?

Good turnset.

I notice we can trade (sell) our map to Izzy & Toku for 200 each. I'd recommend we do so... before pressing enter to end the turn.

Do we want peace with Cyrus at all? CS sounds like a good trade to me if we do.

I am a bit worried that we only have one galley defending the west coast. I left two there to pretty much insure that we would kill an encroaching invader. (Cyrus) The vagaries of the RNG leave me cautious with a one on one encounter.

HE can be built most effectively in one of Sal's old cities. They are both better than anything on our home island. It would take about 24 turns in Mecca (needs barracks first) and about 19 in Medina.

Astronomy is a possibility, though it is quite expensive and is not critical at the moment. It would take around 50 turns to research at our current rate.
Cavalry was mentioned. It would take about 130 turns at our current research rate to get it. Gunpowder is about 30 turns out. Engineering (pikes) is about 15 turns out from finishing guilds. In a few more turns we will have ability to build knights. I suggest gunpowder next as it is on the path to cavalry. Speak up folks and let your opinions be heard.

There is a spearman ready in Old Sarai, and a maceman can be whipped to put both on a boat back to our new religious capital. Or take the archer and upgrade him to longbow to take without whipping.

There is no defender in Turfan. Let the next build there stay there.
