SGOTM 07 - Chokonuts

10 more turns:

- Finished Artillery and Rocketry, started Genetics
- Started Apollo Program, it added 1 turn to Genetics, but I figure it's more important to get Apollo Program out
- Cathy finished the 5 casings
- Cyrus and Mansa form a PA
- Lost deer
- Saladin completes Apollo Program
- Elizabeth completes Apollo Program
- Cyrus/Mansa complete Apollo Program

It's only 13 more turns for Apollo to finish (16 total). Asoka had 5 more turns to finish Ironworks and I didn't think he'd be able to do it much faster than 11 turns to make it more advantageous for him to do.

Oh - forgot to mention we got another Great Scientist so we now have 2 of them. I didn't use them because I wasn't sure what we wanted to bulb with them.

I selected Genetics because that seemed to be what everyone was talking about getting to.

Combustion is widely available so I trade for it with Kublai, giving up Communism and Biology. It seems no-one currently has Plastics, although Cathy has Fission.

I trade Fred rice for stone to grow some.

Cathy now has Plastics and Fission but lacks Radio and Refrigeration. No trades available.

JC and Izzy PA up as well.

Genetics comes in and research is set to Plastics (and Robotics selected behind that as well).

At the end of 10, we are 1 turn from Apollo. We should build a casing after that I suppose and stop working some mines to grow quicker, we now have +3 health.

Refrigeration, Computers, Genetics are all Monopoly techs. Only Cathy has Radio. Elizabeth, Mansu/Cyrus and Cathy have Plastics. We can trade Radio to Mansu/Cyrus for Plastics (we have 5 turns left). I would think this is a worthwhile risk, as Cathy must be gunning for Robotics as well. When Robotics comes in, we're going to have to hope Asoka can build it as I imagine we're too far north.

Casings are getting built all over the place but we should be able to catch up here quickly.

Once we have Robotics, we should research Satellites, Fibre Optics, Fission (might get a trade here), Fusion and lastly Ecology, hoping we can eek out a win. After every tech we research, we should check to see if the GSs will bulb it for us (hopefully Fibre-Optics).

Tech bulbing priority for a scientist is Fibre Optics, Fission then Fusion.

I agree with Ngranger about saving for a GA, however if another is due to come in before we get to Fusion we could use two on Fibre Optics.

Turn 0: Traded Radio to Cyrus for Plastics and 340gp. Robotics underway.
Turn 1: Catherine wants us to declare war on the Arabs; we decline. Apollo program complete, factory in production.
Turn 2 - 3: Catherine completes the Manhattan project.
Turn 4: Factory complete, Hydro Plant in production.
Turn 5 - 6: Hydro Plant complete, Ironworks in production.
Turn 7 - 10: We have Robotics and Ironworks in 1 and will have 4 Casings complete next turn.

Cyrus and Catherine have been putting a serious hurt on the Arabs.

Hmmm, not sure if Cathy going well is good (distracts her from winning) or bad (gets her mpre research and production capacity.

It looks like we may have more production that Asoka so maybe build some of the bigger parts ourselves. Pity we can't go after Space Elevator ourselves.

Mighty would be next!

Played 9,

Went for Fiber Optics after Robotics, wanted to keep ahead of Cathy in Fusion race, burnt both scientists on FO and we start on Docking Bay. I employ some scientists to step our GP rate once again.

Turn 2 - Fred cancels Rice deal so have to re jig again cutting more production to feed our people

Turn 3 - Cathy is distracted no more as Arabia is destroyed.

Turn 4 - Fred has Fission but he wont trade.

Turn 5 - Liz offers D pact, I declined for now but something we may consider for later??

Turn 6 - Cathy asks to cancel deals with America, I decline as she is already miffed at us and is probably not wise to miff America off as well.

Turn 7 - Asoka completes Stasis Chamber and then decides to start on 3 Gorges Dam  27 turns when he already has power in his main cities

Turn 8 - Great engineer born in India so at least Asoka is now only wasting 6 turns building 3 Gorges
IBT Cathy completes 3 Gorges so all Asoka got was a big bag of gold for his efforts.
Fiber Optics in changed to Sattelites.

Turn 9 - I stopped here because Cathy now has Robotics, as she already has Fission if she were to get Fiber Optics before we get Fission then she could start on Fusion before us. I think we should stop Sattelites and come back to that later. I dont think we are going to be able to trade for Fission any time soon (only Fred and Cathy have it currently) so we will prob have to research it ourselves anyway. If so I think we should start it now to ensure we get to Fusion first.

There is also an enemy spy disconnecting our Uranium and Iron, it has only targetted these two tiles so far (started on turn 2). If it does just keep disconnecting these two we wont have a problem (at least it keeps our worker busy).

Asoka is either relectant to build Space Elevator or cant. He has built a Frigate and tried to build Three Gorges so I think is probably the latter.

We have Fiber Optics and one other (I think Refrigeration) over Cathy, we are ahead in the building race too with 5 casings and Stasis Chamber, we are half way through docking and Asoka will finish Cockpit?? in 5 turns. The main two left are the engine (costly) and the three thrusters.

Asoka gets to build parts at about half the cost of ourselves so prob best for him to build Engine to get as big a discount as possible.

Louis XIV, Kublai Khan and Frederick completed Apollo Program.
We complete Cockpit and Docking bay.
Cyrus/Mansa completes three Thrusters.
Elisabeth two Thrusters.
Catherine the Docking bay.
And Louis a casing.

Sattelites is in, and we move on to Fission. I looked and looked for Fission trades, but none where available, so now we get Fission in next turn.

We've got a monopoly on Genetics and Fiber Optics.

The spy has stopped bugging us.

Asoka will complete two thrusters in two turns, and we are building the last in 7.

Nure if it was luck or judgement but looks like we'll get both Fission and Sattelites before Cathy gets Fibre Optics. Should be straight run on Fusion now. Should we adjust our scientists so GP is born in line with getting Fusion. I think we should be due one in 6 turns if they were left how they were after my turns. Should just be last two pieces to build Engine (big) and Life Support (cheap and copper bonus).

I sure it must be cubbies now!!
