SGOTM 09 - Fifth Element

CRC built it in two turns starting at T72.

Turn 74, 40 BC: Pericles has completed The Pyramids!

At that point they had

stats: 6 cities, 11 workers, 2 settlers, 3 phalanx, 3 warriors, 1 scout.

Later pyramids makes sense. #1 priority had to be 6-8 cities for Oxford. Pyramids weren't much use before that anyway. Cities are growing and can't run scientists. And the capital had forest preserves for happiness, so no need for the Pyramid happiness.

I have made a test game where we start on the "big" part. I tend to think we'll be on the small part, but that's just a guess by looking at how much ocean tiles are visible to the edge of the land.

Blubz,

I invited BABABrian to either join or Lurk. I think he would be a nice addition.

I hope he can be :) i've seen an inpressive series of #1 by him last update.

I invited also SunTzu Wu and another guy you can see often in the HoF.
The first has already signed, the other is "thinking".

With Culdeus back and those additions i hope we can be in good shape.
Dunno if Sweeta can be fully in team (he signed, anyway), but i think we have enough members to cover the holes.

Cool.
I am on vacation for the next week in the Czech Republic so I don't know how much online time I'll have. I see that the start file is up on the 7th and I don't return till the 6th so I may be quiet in the initial discussions

Hi there!

You do know that other sgotm teams can look at this thread? I've just downloaded the posted test map...:mischief: Do you mind? Not to be too unethical, we (Unusual Suspects) could pm you our own map when we finally make it. (Although I'm not sure this kind of collaboration between teams is actually allowed?)

I've just subscribed to this thread, in case there is anything I should be aware of prior to the actual start of SGTOM-10.

No problem, it's just an effort in WB anyone can make. No secrets.

There won't be much discussion, since the thread is open. As you probably know, the team threads are forbidden to other teams members, but only once the threads for the new game are started. This one is for a finished game, so anyone can visit it.

I pulled it only because the leader name was my name. An oversight. Anyway takes only 10-15 minutes to do and I think it this one in particular will be largely irrelevant as our site is probably 75% chance on the Small part of the map. this also would make more sense as letting an AI populate the little islands would add tons of turns.

I am going to make a "small" map as well. On an average B&S map I think you can expect the AI to put out perhaps 40 cities if given the "small" start. That means probably 60 nukes. 70, to be safe. If we are given the "small" start I think with rex that number of AI cities drops to 30.

Advanced starts are so irritating with the constant requests from AI to change civics and religion. It would be funny if they put a lot of religious zealots on one island and each with their own religion battle it out to the end maybe razing a few cities in the process. Hmm....that gives me an idea.

Well, thanks for the map! :) Have fun, Elements...

@Culdeus
Hey, have you removed the test game?
I forgot to download it yesterday and now i can't find it. :(

I'll use the one i made. just to see how things work.

@Unclethrill
1) if you back home the 6th, you'll be just in time for the initial discussion.
2) seen nothing by Bababrian, what about him?

@all
please remember to not post before me in the thread when it will open.
As usual, i'll reserve the first posts for links and so on.

What is the roster at this point?

Also I'll say that if someone can really put forward a worse ruler to have for this variant of game I'd like to know what it is. Sheesh.
I answer for the roster, in strict alphabetical order:

Blubmuz (old)
Culdeus (old, but skipped last SG)
Greatbeyond (old)
SunTzuWu (i invited him and he's probably a great addition)
Sweetacshon (but he said that maybe he can't be of much help)
Unclethrill (he joined the last SG, so you never directly played with him).

Do you mean leader? mmh yes, we start with forges, so we can't benefit of the reduced cost, we will not build many wonders, so goodbye to all the industrious trait.
Aggressive? not so bad, but probably protective was better for the first promos.
At least barracks and drydocks will be cheap.

BTW i eventually received your email with the save. The address is completely different from the one you gave me in PM.
