SGOTM 09 - Team CFR

My turnset (turns 90-103, finished 860AD)
The missions were:
1) Deal with the joint threat of barbs and Joao on our southernmost city of Knossos,
Accomplished - pulled together 3 airships, attacked 2 barb swords and 2 axes in forest after airship attack, lost a mace @89% odds, but this allowed our 9-exp phalanx to finish the survivor and unlock HeoEpic.
As for Joao, his units were constantly hit with airships and stayed in the woods healing until we've bought peace for 10 gold.
After that barbs have ceased to worry us (even before GWall) or sed any envoys - I wonder what was the trigger.

2) Finish preparations and launch war against Hamurabi
Produced few more trebs, mace, airship and a newly minted musket for city defense from xbows. Figured out the tile NW from Mycenae will return to our domain in 3 turns (turned out in 4 as Hammurabi built us Pyramids :) ). Started at turn 97, captured Babylon at 98 without losses with GWall (so long, barbs) and Pyramids (hello, Representation) though Hammurabi have discovered Feud 1 turn before the war. Captured Dur-Kurigalzu losing only 1 treb. Ready to get closer together with Akkad which has walls.
We are 2 turns from GGeneral, thank you GWall.

3) Get to Bio and National Park ASAP
Due to war issues (lack of commerce, building units instead of wealth, such things), we had to work 3 turns on 100% cash and looked likely to miss 103-turn target for Bio. However, it was decided to hire full load of 5 scientists in Athens to speed up a GP (GS) for GAge, which was achieved on turn 102. Then, after some quick maths, it was decided a GAge will allow to cut a turn on Bio (418 bulbs per turn pre GAge and revolt to Repr, ~760 needed), which was done - and by switching our cities to research we managed to get Bio in 1 turn. 2 forests in 3rd and 4th radii were chopped for Athens, allowing NatPark in 2 turns (due turn 104).

At this point I transfer the game to the next player, as Bio changes so much in the overall gameplay.

Other events

Domestic - finished irrigation link towards Knossos, settled Pharsalos at the east of Greenland, settled Ephesus south from Athens, sent a settler to east of Maracaibo (pigs, seafood, lake), 2 more are under construction to settle all the attractive locations of North America. This was much delayed by Joao. Built HeroEpic in Thebes.

Foreign - sold a bunch of techs. Joao built Zeus.

Barbs have longbows, so taking their cities in Eurasia might prove to be a task. Barbs have founded Tao in Easter Island, and might become the main opponent in Liber race.

After some thoughts we choose the total killing of Hammy via short Cease Fire after capturing Akkad. It looks like we have enought power to kill Hammy with current military units in 1040AD. We should produce several Confu Missionaries for biggest cities in the future (Mycenay, Babylon, Akkad, South city and may be East Greenland city).
We will research Steam Power (fast Workers, Levee, Coal placement), Philosophy (Pacifism), Feudalism, Guilds, Banking, Economics (GM and way to Assembly Plant) to 1060AD.
WE should buy Matal Casting after some AI will build Colossus, then Compas and Optics, so we should sell Calendar and maps.
Our East Greenland city will build Moai Statue, Capital and Mycanai - Levees, most of cities Forges after trading tech.
Settler from Sparta will found one of SW coast cities, I think West first, then Sparta will build last Settler (after some growth). Settler from Knossos will found city near south Iron. So we will have totally 18 cities.
Babylon will build Odeon, Courthose, Forge, all othe Hammy cities Odeon first also.

Next tech way will be (may be) Nationalism, Constitution, Corporation, Liberalism (Assembly Plant), Printing Press (GS), Astronomy (GS, hope to trade Compass and Optics), Steel, Electricity (GS), Industrialisation, Rifling, Rocketry, Railroad, Combustion, Plastics, Radio, Satellites, Composites, Computers, Fiber Optics (GS), Fission (GS), Fusion (GS), Ecology. This way we can build most of SS parts before the last tech and have only 3 critical parts - 2 Engines and Life Support. It can be build in Forest cities very fast.

1. We might get lucky to trade for Feud.
2. If we give cease fire Babylon will likely vassalize to Joao or Wang Kon if they get Feud by then - don't see why should we make any break in the war then.

CRC have made another turnset, looking good.

We changed our plans a little bit. We will not totaly kill Hammy in 1020AD but sign peace for Feu and Teo, Hammy will live with Borisippa only. There is a high risk that Hammy will stay a Vassal of Joao after reserching Feu, but we will stronger and can prepare for defencive war against Joao when we will kill Hammy.

Because of Korea is ready to sell us Optics we will change our tech way:
1000AD: PP at 0% of science;
1020AD: rash PP with GS, start Astro with 70-80% of science;
1040AD: rash Astro with new GS in Athens, start Guilds at 100% of science;
Next way is Guilds (1060AD), Banking (1100AD), Economics (1120AD), Nationalism (1140AD), Constitution (1160AD) and Corporation (1180AD).
At this point we should decide do we use Liberalism for Assembly Line or Industrialism.
in one hand more safe Liberalism and earlier Factories, in other + 1500 bulbs.
Now we also discuss idea of sending GM from Economics to Capac's Capital for money and create other GM latar in Sparta for 4-th GA.
Around turn 125 we will start 2d GA with GS and GA, and during this 9 turns we will build Taj Mahal for 3-d GA non-stop with +1 bonus turn. This is additional argument for early Factories...
Techs: Assembly Plant, Electro (3 GS), Steel for Iron Works, Riffling for 3-4 Paratroopers, Industrialism (Aluminium), Rocketry (Apollo), Railroad, Combustion, Plastics (Hydro Plant in Athens), Radio, Satellites, Composites, Computers (GS), Fiber Optics (last GS), Fission, Fusion and Ecology. Laser blocks GS for Fission and Fusion so we should use all GS before it.

4-th GA can be started with some hole from 3-d if we will have problems with science. But in any case we shouldn't launch later then turn 156 (finish in 162).

We also plan to prebuild trireme in Argos to turn into Frigate upon Astro and block Atlantis - we don't need barbs competing with us for Liber.

Recommendations for the next turnset (1120-onwards)

Pharsalos - move citizens to sea

Shaka - sell deer for 2 gpt

There is a pre-steampower 1-turn prebuild of farm SW from Thebes
No need for workshop near Corinth - hire specialists.
I'd build workshops on one of the two remaining tiles near Thebes, there will be excess food otherwise
Even more true for Ephesus - with lhouse, clams and 3 workshops on plain tiles we will already have extra 4 food per turn - why farms?
I'd start building boats for southern fish.
Connect rice.

Disband scout

I'm for chopping-only forge in Corinth, producing cash during other turns.

Corinth with Workshop and Chopping will build Factory+Plant fast enough.
About Farms - we need to grow ASAP, then change part of Farms to Workshops, Workers will be free for such actions very soon.
Thanks for reminding about Farm prebuild.

Our GM will arrive to Cuzco in 1200AD. For better result we should grow Athens to size 23, so 1 turn we should set citizen on the lake.

1180 AD proposals

Low happiness limit in Ephesus, too much food - odeon after forge, perhaps, theatre too
Sell wine to Wang for 2gpt
Move scout to the south to mass-defend the southern cities - or disband

Build lab in Athens immediately after factory, consider starting now

Consider harbors in coastal cities - Sparta, Greenland

we play short session and specify calculations and playing moments.

Dynamic play before 1280 AD, we bild 2 galeons - 1 for mercant 2nd for 3 maceman (2-3 city-raider) and wait them in not visible for to the hammurabi area. when he have only 1 longbow in last city we attack them and conquer. It was 1260 AD, Hammi was vassal Jao, so I going to militate with Jhao. But he very quickly agreed to the negotiations, nobody even may need to kill (1 worker took to him and 2 at Babylon in 1260) I gift him for peace banking. Then sold philosofy for 70 gold and sheep for 9/turn. Also I sold to other civilizations of different technologies on a lump sum more than 300 gold that allowed to hold science on 100% all time. in addition I started Golden Age a scientist and prophet which as we expect will last to our flying away. Now we even hope to launch spaceship hardly before.

In addition I can say that I played 1000AD-1280AD according the plan, nothing special accept early Hammy rush with Macemen and short blood-off war with Joao.

We succesfully got GM from Economics and Assemly Plant from Liberalism. GM prodused 1541 gold in Cuzco in 1200AD. We will get 2 more GM in Sparta and Akkad. But I made mistake and forgot to change specialists in Sparta to merchants, so we will have ~70% chance of GMerchant.
For now we are researching Industrialism, we need 2-3 turns of 80-90% science, then will set 100% forever. We started non-stop GA from turn 124, will build Taj Mahal in 2 turns and then will start 4th GA by GArtist, GScientist and GMerchant from Akkad. This triple GA will end on turn 152 and if we will not have bad random we will launch at turn 152.
By the base plan we should get 18 GP in cities, but now we are discussing ability and worth of 19th.
We will produce 3 Paratroopers for capturing barbs cities for money and will make the colony for happiness.

Played up to 1460AD. Not much happened, just building stuff in our cities. Many cities are now switched to producing gold/beakers because no new building will have enough time to pay back the cost. Discovered Industrialisation, Rocketry, Combustion, Plastics; we did have alluminum and it is now connected. Built Apollo program in Mycanae, our IW city. Started building SS parts in the end of my session. Sent 3 paratroopers to Europe to capture the barb cities (1 taken, the other will be taken on the next turn) to get gold from plundering and happiness from freeing them as a vassal. We got some happiness problems after learning plastics this turn since our furs became obsolete, but this should be fixed after trading gold from Korea which became available for sale this turn.

There is a huge (30+ maces/swords/longbows) barbarian stack near Olmec, the city near Capac. They must have sent all the units from Atlantis there via an airport. So it is now clear why barbarian attacks stopped abruptly at some point, even before we got the great wall: the reason was that barbs completed airport in Atlantis. The barbs have enough units to capture several incan cities (well at least they had enough before Capac got rifling), but for some reason they are just wandering wandering pointlessly between Olmec and the tile 2S of Olmec, many units are damaged because Capac bombarded them with his airships.

Our tech Plan:
138: Radio
140: Satellites
142: Composites
143: researching Fisson, invest ~ 5+K bulbs
145: Computers
146: Fission, big overflow, 4GS into Fiber Optics, switch to Free Religion
147: Fiber Optics, overflow 5.5-6K bulbs
148: Fussion, overflow 1-1.5K bulbs
149: Ecology
150: Launch

SS Parts:
Mycenae prebuilds Stasis, Thrusters, Casing, then builds Engine by 1 turn without help
Thebes prebuilds Thrusters, Casing, then builds Engine by 2 turn with 9 Forests
Babylon builds Thrusters, Casing, add ~4 forests
Knossos builds 2 Thrusters, Cockpit with some forests
Eretria builds Casing fith some forests
Ephesus builds Docking with 4 forests
Pharsalos builds Casing fith 4 forests
Athens builds Life Support with 5-6 forests

All last components (8) are building on the last turn after discovering Ecology.

I'll try to play this evening.
It looks like Murky Waters, Misfits and Trash Team already have finished. We should be faster.

I played 4 turns... forget to build Hydro Plant in Athens... Shaka started War against Capac and Korea... so no money for exchange... Bad.

Even with my mistake and low money from AI we still sould launch on turn 150 if our last 2 GP on turn 144 and 146 will be GS (high prob).

I Played 2 turns till 1520AD. We discovered Composites. GM in Akkad, start last GA with GS and GA. Joao also started war against Shaka... I hope we will not lose our lux resource from Shaka... Korea have money for exchange so we can continue with good science over 3K per turn.

We still sell Deer to Shaka for 2 gpt... time to give it back, Mycenae and Knossos have 1 green face.

+1

Or we can sell it to Wang for 5gpt
