Good work Xteam!

We (Gypsy Kings) have been closely watching your game for a while now. It was amazing to see how our chatter started off with "Yeah, we'll beat them by 10 turns or so"... "hmm, looking more like less than 5 turns"... "hmmm, looking very very close"... until finally "Yeah, Xteam will beat us " Kind of shows how difficult it was to predict the tech pace coming up to the end of the game.

Very different strategies too - you guys with the huge empire and corporations while we kept it a bit more compact and stayed with State Property. I'm not sure if we are tied for finishing on the same turn or if you guys are 1 turn ahead of us. Either way, you've out scored us.

When you updated vanilla, did you use the in game button to update or did you download the update from CFC and apply it. The in game does not work well and it is better to use the download from CFC method.

I used the download from CFC. It's a DirectX problem I believe from reading some discussion on the 1.74 patch in the downloads section of CFC. This computer came with a somewhat minimal installation, I am discovering Nothing a few downloads won't fix. IT will just take a little while.

And, yes, there is much to read here!
Should keep you busy through the summer, given your on again and off again access?

My guess is that you simply need to upgrade the directx install.. 1.74 required a higher version of dx9c I think than the one directly from the disc

That's preceisely what it was. I upgraded directx and 1.74 works just fine.

I've found a copy. IT's just on the other side of the Atlantic and the Sahara at the moment. A minor detail... Working on it...

Oh - actually having an easily accessable and reliable internet connection again has brought me back to a few forums I haven't read in a long time. I went and looked at the HOF forums and tables again. I notice two things:

1. PK has been hitting the top of the lists in the Emperor and Immortal space games

and, this is astonishing...

2. I still have a number 1 position on the time victory at emperor after more than a year of not submitting a HOF game. Obviously time victories are not very interesting records to aim for...

As far as I can tell, by the law of sit-coms, everything has been wildly successful so far!!!

I've signed up for Xteam again for SGOTM10 even though I probably won't be able to play it. Wife is having a tough time finding a post-doc in the area so money will be a bit tight to buy a new computer.
I'll do my best to make useful posts throughout, but without even being able to load up the saves, I'm not sure what it will be worth.

Mad Prof: I just played those games on Emp/Imm to prove that you don't need to play Inca to get on the HoF, they're about 400 years later than what can be done with a good Inca player though >.>
I'm looking forward to seeing what Shannon can do.

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner. I've been away on vacation for the past two weeks, and I just got home. I didn't have the internet access I expected to have while I was away, either.
