SGOTM 10 Sign-up Thread

Can a SGOTM mod please explain what you describe newbie  :
In what context? Have I used that word somewhere? I am only aware of my expression "new to the competition" in the context of Wotan's team, and unless you've changed your nickname, I believe that applies to you. However, as I indicated in my post, if you are not happy with my team allocations, please suggest an alternative arrangement, or at least state your preferences.

Nickname?
----------------

No, I just wanted to see what you meant because Wotan told me he would help "newbies".;)

I thought by newbies you meant experience in SG's and difficulty playing level.

@Cron: Thanks for signing up. I suggest we put you in Team tao, unless anyone has a better idea? New signups from uncommitted players from now on will be distributed among the existing teams, as I doubt if we'll get enough to make a complete new team.

@sanabas: I've amended the team list to reflect your full name. However, in the interests of web page width, your team name will be abbreviated to Fuzzy Wuzzy in the results listings and in your save file.

@Beorn-eL-Feared: Likewise, Reigning Cats and Dogs will have to be abbreviated for the list. Options are RCD, Reigning ... any preferences?

@Offa:  How could you even suggest that I might ever serve up anything but roast beef of olde England?
OK, I'll come clean. I was Xteam post-count leader for a while

@Ansar_the_King: I looked up your nickname - "Ansar_the_King" - in the SGOTM archives to determine that you have no previous SGOTM history. If Wotan or you feel that Team Wotan should have players at lower experience levels than you then I can rearrange things.

@ AlanH, Beorn:
Suggested abbreviation of "Cats&Dogs"?

RCD or Cats&Dogs are both fine with me

Team Spam. Or Team Hotdog. Both are made from anything that fell in the mincer and/or cats & dogs. One of them you are likely to do in your team thread. :p

well since spam is not allowed on this forum, I cannot comment on my posting abilities. I inform my fellow members with trivial (sometimes very trivial) tidbits of information. Such as which keys I pressed on my keyboard before clicking "Post Quick Reply"

No, Im good, so when does it start?:D :bounce:
Follow the bouncy ball to the first post in this thread, where it says we start the game on 7th May. While you are there, you might also want to read the rest of that post, plus the referenced threads, where you can find details of the setup procedure, and the rules and procedures for the competition.

Looks good to me, thanks Alan.
I presume we'll continue under the name of Peanut, even though we've lost the man himself.

I'm open to team name changes, but you'd better get your skates on as I'll be applying branding irons to the team saves tomorrow. We start at midnight, server time, on Saturday/Sunday.

Team Smurkz is confirmed by all members, so let's get those team threads up and let the spamming commence! :D

I suspect the "amp;" was a sort of violent typo, but I like it. We're undergoing team PM discussions right now, so I'll confirm the team name shortly.

&

is the HTML code for '&' - the ampersand symbol, because '&' is used as a prefix for lots of special symbols, so it has to be a special symbol itself if you want to display it on a web page. I've no idea how you managed to get it into your post, but there you go.

Thanks for setting this and Civ IV up. :goodjob: :thanx:

Are the team threads going up a little early or will you wait until the saves are available? :mischief:

Since I am the Fuzzy-Wuzzy one, is this a push to make me skipper?

I can set the team threads up as soon as I have the team names .... do I have all the team names? klarius 2?

A little arm twisting ;) Are team names so difficult to finalise?

Please remember that I'm trying to get this game off the launch pad in the next 24 hours, along with getting ready for the first Civ4 SGOTM.
