SGOTM 11 - X-Nuts

Did not get to this today but I can play Monday night.

Domination was acheived in 1390AD

preturn - 1355AD
Change Preferences - turn off - animate our moves (manual & auto)
too many wounded troops at the French border, so I make peace and start rushing settlers (we currently have 3)

IBT - forgot how ridiculus this game is at times - Tientsin flips to France probably has a resource under it (after I put a knight army in it last turn to get rid of the resistance) / produce 16 more settlers (total of 19)

Turn 1 - 1360AD
need 331 tiles
found 4 new cities

Turn 2 - 1365AD
need 293 tiles
found 3 new cities

Turn 3 - 1370AD
need 272 tiles
found 8 cities
5 cities will expand next turn

Turn 4 - 1375AD
need 184 tiles (348 still unclaimed)
found 6 cities
troops are mostly healed and positioned (although I have 2 small stacks that have been clearing up the resistance - need to send them back towards the front)

Turn 5 - 1380AD
need 115 tiles (286 unclaimed)
found 12 cities (most did not grab 9 tiles)
2 cities will expand

IBT - FRA has 2 frigate/galleon stacks moving and they land a galleon and a galley in Tientsin (just as I'm ready to launch an attack) / popup says the French are building TOE

Turn 6 - 1385AD
need 15 tiles for victory, so no need to attack and risk losing border cities
found only 3 cities this turn but gain about 30 tiles - as long as the AI doesn't attack in the IBT this game should be done

IBT - no attack and

Turn 7 - 1390AD
Domination Victory popup

F 6969
J 8266

I've got the save from the end of 1385AD if anyone wants it.

I think the peaceful way played out faster than warfare would have. I was able to poach a few tiles from France and was also able to send 2 stack to quell resistance on the 2nd continent. This allowed settlers to be rushed without the need of transport. Although the first wave of settlers did come from our homeland. I also did not have to worry about defending those cities. I was able to build 36 cities in 6 turns and we still have 10 more in route to spots plus I only rushed a few settlers over the last 2 or 3 turns.

Nice work Gator, cleaning up my mess!! :D

And a nice call by Mathilda on the settlers, made a lot of difference in the game.

Thanks to the Peanuts for joining us. I really enjoyed playing with you and hope we can continue to do so.

Nice work team!

Very nice Gator

Yes, I have to say this was the refreshing, playing with people who know what they are doing :yup:

 Half of the time, half of us don't know what we're doing, but we're a lot better when we play as a team and the Ex-Peanuts certainly were a welcome addition. I must add: both playwise and for the more social aspects of sgotm. I'd like to play with you again some time, if you'll have me

I'll second Capt's opines - Very enjoyable game - to the mods for a challenging game and :salute: to my teammates for a well played game

Nice job, Gator! :goodjob: And great job to the team! This was very enjoyable, a really good group of players to participate in SGOTM with! Count me in for the next one! :D

A very fun game and I enjoyed playing with the Peanuts. Look forward to the next challenge and hope we can keep our team together.

Sign me up for the next one also. A little curious what Head Cheeses have in store for us. They normally follow a war game with a builder game, so I'd expect either a diplomatic or culture type game (probably not space after the Vikings failure to launch Space Elephants in SGOTM10). Maybe one of those large, huge or custom extra-jumbo sized maps since finishing in a month (in spite of the OTM in the name) time is usually not an issue. It would be fun to do something out of the ordinary such in the SGOTM such as new tribes (Austria, Minoans, etc), units (Ordu Archers, Peltasts or Machine Gunners) or victory conditions (like first to 50,000g in the bank).

Diplomacy with a twist most likely.
Also thinking of possibly doing a rerun of the India in space with the first pure warlords sgotm btw.. should be easier to lure an AI to win a space victory in civ4 ;)

Thinking back to all the sgotm's, I have to say the Space jumbo game was my favourite so far. It just required thinking ouside the box, more than the normal games.

Congratulations, All! It was fun to follow. :)
Thanks. How are things in the real world?

Any Civ time? :p

Hope your doing well and that we see a bit more of you about.

Things are going well, but I'm quite busy. I'll continue to just lurk for the forseeable future. Thanks for asking! :)

Mathilda ... I thought some of the fun was playing with Peanuts like me who often didn't know what they were doing :crazyeye: !!

From the occasional glimpses I saw it looked like you all had a jolly good time. Hope you all had a nice Christmas season ;)

Oh Peanut!!
But of course it was fun, and if you ever find the time, you are more than welcome back!
And Happy New Year

Congatulations, DJMGator13! You must be very happy with your team's performance tonight! :trophy:

I attended a Big 10 School (not Ohio State), so even though they're a rival, you still have to (generally) side with the conference. Tonight there was no doubt who the better team on the field was.
