SGOTM 12 - Team Zoe

So, in fool-proof format:

War Inca, ally Maya, phony for now

War Porto, ally Korea, regroup and invade

When Portugal = dead, post screenies and discuss it from there.

Hope it kills the confusion. And isn't wrong.

not wanting to be too picky, looked at the save and Bear uses a sea tile when the ivory is so much better. And I am not sure that markets first are better. We are researching at full speed, why not getting the cheap libraries up first in Kyoto/Osaka? These cities are still small and have no happy issue yet.

Agreed 200% on libraries ASAP everywhere. This might even make us culturally dominant, on a warring game at Deity - soon ;)

Thanks for the summary B.

Can those libs produce many beakers at this point? Just curious because we may be able to hand build them cheaper when we're not in a GA vs. markets.

OK my turns are over. A couple things I missed changed my strategy a little:
1) We had a war with Portugal, then we made peace, so we still have some turns left on a peace treaty with Portugal, so I could not DOW them
2) Inca have iron and therefore swords. So I wanted to wait til the Maya forces got home before the DOW. I also wonder if we should DOW Maya first.

Turn 6 continued

Sell engineering to Greece for 30 gpt and 33 gold
Sell HBR to Russia for 18 gold
We could sell engineering to Babylon for 19 gold and 1 gpt - seems a little light
Upgrade a cat to a treb

IBT
Rome and Portugal make peace
Delhi has anarchy as resistance is quelled

Turn 7 - 610 BC
Delhi has 4 resistors still. Change the rest to scientists
A sword, a cat and 2 pikes arrive via Dromon in our Indian territory

IBT
Zoo: med inf -> med inf. SoZ produces an AC
Rat Hole: market -> lib

Turn 8 - 590 BC
Issue remove or declare on Portugal. They remove. I tried.
Delhi - resistance is over
We still have 9 turns on our peace treaty with Portugal. Argh
Extort 7 gold from the Inca

IBT
Delhi: worker -> market
Bombay: worker -> worker
Osaka: lib -> mkt

Turn 9 - 570 BC
Cut lux to 0%, MM some cities to increase science - theology in 2

IBT:
the Zoo: med inf -> med inf

Turn 10 - 550 BC
Not much
Cut science to 70%, theology in 1.

There are two cats in Rat Hole that could get loaded on the Dromon.

I mentioned the markets in my plan IIRC - a little too late now. Smart you can change any builds as you see fit.

not wanting to be too picky, looked at the save and Bear uses a sea tile when the ivory is so much better.
I was MMing to finish a build and then I forgot to get back there the next turn.

Shoot that's right on the Ports. Nice finish.

Zerksees don't you think that's all the more reason to have Maya hit Inca? The AI won't build swords if they have to defend cities. They build the cheapest unit for defense.

Next time it happens to anyone, empty the cities of their troops, then issue the declare or leave. The chances of them declaring are much greater if they have a clear pass to the bounty.

Whomp - I don't know for sure, but I think the sheer volume of units will cancel out. Swords will come into Mayan lands and get knocked off on the counter attacks. I think it will be a lot faster if we send our units to take the Mayan cities first - moving units by boat is a pain. Plus we avoid a two front war with the Maya.

Beorn - good tip for next time - sorry I missed it this time.

actually, Mayas had some turns to return to their land already. I tend to agree under theses circumstances now that we fight Maya first. Sea transport with our fast units is a pain. I would also ally against Maya now and then later Inca with the help of Ottomans

Good point. Maya it is! It will be interesting to see if Klarius can keep pace. :D

if they just reached the road, we better wait 1 or 2 turns to declare. We still need an embassy with Inca's though. By the way, keep on looking at possible slave trade, we can always part a tech to get a slave.

edit: we could use our dromons to actually check where the stack is

hope it's not too confusing, but I would like to bring up another point that i learnt from playing with klarius:

tech trading and setting up the AI to research the right stuff:

we want to sci Civs to research invention/gunpowder etc for us. I hope France is on the right track as I traded them into that direction. However, we would like to see the others also going for that. We should make sure, that those sci Civs are all having engineering and feudalism, so that they go for invention. Also, if later monarchy or republic come up, we should try and purchase it and gift it to them. I checked the save and there are quite a few that we could set up on the right track for invention

If we can get invention, then we should gift it around likewise to those Civs so they go for gunpowder.

Does that sound reasonable?

Yep, gifting is good. If you're issuing 'leave or declare' demands in the hopes that they declare, it works much better if they are furious. And repeatedly attempting to extort a city will make them furious with a few clicks of the mouse.

smart? didn't see you post a got it? are you playing this?

Agreed let's keep this tight guys.
Beorn -- 2 cities down
ThERat-- 2 more cities down and we're in the MA.
Smart -- ???
Zerksees-- more conquests
Bucephalus -- You're UP if we don't see a Smart got it when you see this
Whomp--
Sanabas -- Give us a wavey when you can be re-inserted

Smart, remember the issues we brought up for the next turnset.

- no war against Portugal yet as there is still a peace treaty
- war against Maya, but wait 2-3 turns until their stack is back in their land. Then declare on them and immediately draw in Incas. Hopefully this will make progress for us easier. Take out Maya, if you can. If you succeed, you might want to fight Portugal with the help of Korea or turn to Inca immediately with the help if Ottoman.
- no deals with potential enemies as we don't want to get locked into 20 turns deals
- gift/sell the scientific Civs so they start invention (thus give them engineering and feudalism, but not monotheism)

did I miss out anything?

I think that covers it about covers it. The only thing I would do is stop once Maya is gone so we can determine whether Ports or Incans should go next.
