SGOTM 14 - Elite

Stalemate in the east.

Not much happened in Mongolia. I have killed about 15-20 troops, but lost two armies (one to bad luck)

The big unmoved stack also contains a settler for planting a target. and a few muskets, but I would wait until the 2 new Armies from Europe arrive. (2-3 turns.) then put Armies and Cavs on the two green mountains and kill all the Muskets + MIs who are moving through the pillaged plains. Tschengis shouldn't have more then 2 Cavs left.

The Cav Army is siting on the last mongol Salpeter and should cut it next turn.

I left the Stack unmoved in case you want to attack the musket on the mountain, but I wouldn't suggest to.

Logistics

The shipchain in the east isn't yet 2way, but there are enough ships available by now.

There is a settler next to Najran which is meant for France.
There is an Amy stuck in the middle, because of an operating ,mistake.
And there are lots of Ćavs/Muskets in Schoeneveld together with the ships to get them all to our landing spot in Mongolia.

The Chinese Incident
As noted China landed in France when it was undefended and would not take straight peace. So we are paying 26 gpt now.
There is settler on a boat which can settle the red spot in 2 turns and then we should get him to declare. red are our units and pink is the chinamen.

Homeland Administration

I have played Disconnect/Reconnect for most of my turnset and it worked quite fine.

Admin goes as follows:

IBT: (Salpeter Connected/ Iron Disconnected)
When a Horse is build go to city screen and upgrade immediately.
Set all new builds to warrior as a reminder.

Start of Turn:
- Disconnect the Salpeter.
- Set all Warrior builds to Horse or Spear.
- Connect the Iron.
- Upgrade Spears and Trebs to Pike and Cannon.
- Disconnect the Iron.
- Connect the Salpeter.

I tried to get all core towns to 10, 6 or 5 spt for this. Cities where this wasn't possible are building
Cavs directly.

To the southwest you can also find an Army in transit from Celtica to Mongolia.

This is the iron Spot I used for DC/RC.
In the east you can also see the stack prepared for the attack on Russia. There are not yet defenders near their Prison city, but that should be easily possible in the 2 turns until peace ends.

WorkerCamps

There are lots of Workers fortified in different spots, because there is nothing more to be done then a huge forrest chop campaign and I couldn't be bothered with this.

Rough sledding in Mongolia, armies and having to pay a stiff price to the Chinese it seems. Have any cannons been shipped towards Mongolia? Knocking down the muskets would help a lot. The Romans are done so it would seem the Japanese are next?

Since I moved along on mountains I wasn't able to use them until very late. And I didn't ship a load from rome although I probably should have done.

As for next invasion, everything is staged for a conquest of Azteca, because thats were are troops are now.

OK I'll try to get a few turns in tonight. I won't be able to play again till either Thursday or the weekend so I'll post the save tonight in case someone else wants to grab it.
 
Hi, Team Elite. Do you have an estimate as to when you might finish the game?
 
Hi Renata.
The save is moving pretty slow and we're at 29% world area and 35% population. I wouldn't know how to estimate this.
 
Too many distractions around the house tonight and I ended up staring at the screen trying to figure out whether to settle on the Mongolian island. I'm not sure why we wouldn't. Anyhow, I will try to get this Thursday if no one picks it up beforehand.

I would guess it comes at last to 4-5 turnsets, more if we can' get headway into mongolia.

The problem, is that at our current pace this are 6-8 weeks.

Are we the last ones playing?
 
OK plans have changed and I'll get this tonight and Thursday night. I plan to plant the city right away so that we can establish a foothold on Mongolia.
 
One other team is still playing, but they're closer to finished than you are. I'm not sure if there's enough interest for another game after this; maybe I should check that first before giving a deadline? Not sure.
 
OK seven turns are in. We've got the Mongolian continent under control with 2 cities left. I'm going to take the one closest to us and we've settled a good portion already. The Russians are gone and all the land near St. Petersburg is taken care of. We've knocked the Aztecs back quite a bit and they're about to lose their 3rd city.

Be back with more hopefully tomorrow but more likely Saturday.
 
Are you guys ok with me playing more than 10 turns? My gal is out of town and all I'm doing this weekend is watching basketball so I can get in quite a few turns. I don't want to hog the game but it might speed up the save. I'll check back when I'm done with 10 turns and give an update.

OK here's the story so far...

Pre-turn: Establish city on Mongolian continent. Whack the musket/LB pair with a cav loss and take control of the hill.
IT Sink a German frigate...phew.
810 Land on Azteca. Pillage the Mongolian salt as well as most routes into Tabriz. Set up a ship chain from Diu and Trafagar. They'll be able to land in 1 turn by running cavs to these cities. Short rush some horses and we'll have a good stack ready next turn.

IT A carrack sinks to a German frigate. Upgrade horses to cavs.
820 Take Tlaxcala with a cav loss. Surround Teohutican after whacking some random cannon fodder in front of the city.
Surround Mongolian Tabriz. It make take some time without much arty support but we have 3 armies on the island now.
Declare on the Russians and raze St. Petersburg with one cav loss.
The Chinese disband their cav so no declaration. :sad:

IT Lose a musket by way of the Aztecs but take a few units as well. They load a ton of defensive units at Tlaxcala.
We also lose a musket and cav on a mountain at Tabriz but a pile of muskets leave the city. :crazyeye: Sink a German frigate. I'll need to check for peace with the Germans since this really doesn't make sense to be at war with them.

830 Bombard two elite muskets in Tabriz. Take out 3 muskets with our cav army (5/13). Take another musket with our knight army (4/9). Lose one cav and a elite mace but take the city and keep it till we get a settler in the area.

Hit the Aztec city with one of our cav armies (5/9) and stop to bring the cannons forward and heal. Decide to keep at war with Germany since we don't have any units at risk and they could be our next attack after Mongolia.

IT Germans bring Japanese into the war with us. Lots of counters by the Aztecs but only lose a musket. A few counters from the Mongols with no damage.
840 Hit the Aztec city with cannons and take down 4 muskets. Take 2 with a army (2/9). Take 2 more muskets and a spear which does the majority of damage with a 2nd army (3/9). Raze the city after a considerable siege without losses. Establish a new city right in front of it.

Take down Ta Tu and keep it for Leo's.

IT Sumerians drop off on one of the islands.
850 While whacking a stack of Aztecs we get another leader.

IT Greeks land 3 units on island west of Mongolia.
860Fortunately, we have 3 cavs on the way. The 2nd cav loses and the third redlines takes out a knight. Bring a cav and musket back from Mongolia. The cav takes the remaining mace out and move the musket back to Mongolia.

TaTu's flip risk is absolutely enoromous so I'm going to move out of the city and let it flip if it must. I don't think there's any Mongol cavs left.

870Hammer the Mongol capital and lose 2 cavs but taken down about 7 units and raze the city.
Hit Teno Aztec city with an army and take one musket but lose 7 hps on the second attack and the army goes down. We gain another army on the island as we take down a few more stragglers.

IT Japanese drop off 2 samurais, pike and mace near Cannae. Germans drop off a cav next to Austerlitz.
Tarnopol flips to the Japanese.

880 Knock out the samurai/pike/mace with a cav loss with some help from our ship chain. Take down the German cav. Knock out a spear in Tarnopol but will need to bring some units from Azteca to take the city. We'll bombard Tenochitilan with cannons first. Knock 4 muskets to 2hp. Raze the city after knocking them back a ton. Move on the next Aztec city (name?)
We're at 34% land and 41% population
IT Japanese land a pike/Mace on Roman island again.
890 Take out the Japanese. Take down the Aztec city but lose one of the armies. Move units to Tlatelolco. Move out of Tenochitlan as the flip risk is huge.
Take down the Mongols again with a loss of a army. Both were with 7hps...
Make peace with the Mongols for their map and 9g. We give them Prison City 2 so we take out Kazan later. It's giving a lot of cultural pressure.
We're ready for the Germans...start loading units to land on their island.

IT Japanese move a LB next to Istanbul where we have a pike. Greeks land on Mongolia.
900 Take control of the Aztec island and get another army in the process. Land a stack on Japan. Heal everywhere else.
