It's great to hear from you Sleepless! We played SGOTMs 11-13 together as I recall; those were good times ripe with wooden spoons too.
Some SGOTM soon, I'm sure your team will leverage lost Population into both a Wooden Spoon and a top three award!

Well McArine and myself hold the record number of wooden spoons at 7 each. No one else has more than 4. I hold out that one day I'll get a medal but my spoon collection just keeps expanding 
And just like that the next one has started up, conquest Immortal Normal speed, interesting...
Heehee yeah I know really expect us to get the gold medal each timne with me in the team...

We have five six players signed up so far, which is pretty good going. Though, as I've mentioned in a private message to McA, Oz and Sleepless, my involvement will likely be similar to the SGOTM16, ie, plenty of discussion but not actually playing turnsets.

I wasn't even going to sign up, but PM's from sleepless & ronnie1 made me change my mind.
However, if we don't get enough active players maybe another merge or recruiting should be better?

I think at present we should see how the numbers work out in all teams. I would love to try and keep 9 teams going for the sake of SGOTM. If we still have 4-5 members in a few days time I am sure we would welcome some sort of joint venture for this game.
I have not consulted the team yet as I wanted to see what happened first. We'll really miss Lymond and Mylene this game as they were big contributors last game.
I agree the more teams the better so if both teams can get enough members I'm all for it..
There is a message on the board regarding a gpt exploit. Basically means you can sell all your resources for the maximum amount of gold by gifting gp per turn then cancelling. Not something I'd be keen on but something we have to bear in mind and as it seems the concensus from what I have read is to use it then we will have to as well.

Yep we are up to 6 players. I think if PR get 1-3 more players we should be fine. Hopefully they will all play out the game. Should be a fresh challenge.
I am doing my best to try and promote this game in S and T section.
BTW X team still has 4 players. Not sure what their plan is. Hopefully they will find some more players.

Completely co-incidentally, over at the Hall of Fame, we are conducting a little sand box competition to discover, which Civ/Leader is the best equipped to take out a conquest victory (Emporer difficulty, Standard size, Normal speed, Lakes map)?
if you've never played a Classical Era start, can have a go at this set-up, it is the level below the SGOTM but is Conquest and Normal speed. Can even try out Charlemange on this.
