SGOTM 16 - Misfit Gypsy Nuts

Some quick fog gazing says the western river starts or ends right where we can see it 2N of the settler. The tile 2N of the settler is a hill which would provide a good view by the way. Both rivers look to continue SW.

The tiles to the E of the settler are definitely plains tiles, not grass.

Fog W-NW of settler contains 2 more forests, looks to be 0 forests due west and SW just the fog forests we could see in the screen shot.

Given the length of time this game will probably take, do we want to be a little picky about finding a good cap location as opposed to settling immediately?

:scan: My fog gazing agrees with R1's assessment.

I don't think we need to settle immediately. How many turns can our unprotected Settler go on walkabout before we have to worry about Barbarian Animals showing up?

I am not necessarily in favor of a major walkabout.

What I am proposing is moving the warrior SW and if it reveals nothing substantial, moving the settler, 1 NE then possibly 1NW to the hill in the fog.

SIP is an option also, lots of riverside forests for early chopping and cottaging is not a bad thing.

^This sounds OK to me; I believe these moves would defog the most tiles on Turn 1.

What does everyone else think?

Not very good at fog gazing but agree to moving the warrior SW.

It looks like a FP to the SW - W. So moving the settler NW onto the plains forest rather than west on to the grass forest seems a better idea to me if we settle turn 2. Due to the fact I'd rather keep the grass forest than the plains one.

Seems like we should move the warrior SW as we seem mostly in agreement on this then save/upload the game and plan accordingly with the new information.

Mmm seems a bit quiet. Anyone able to move the warrior 1SW and save/upload the game??? At work atm so unable to do it myself. If anyone does plese post a got it though.

Still haven't discussed tech paths/builds etc. Mining/BW seems the obvious path though might favour AH if we have something to pasture? Worker first though??

I don't think you can upload a 4000BC save, but someone could post a screenshot after the move!

Did wonder about that? So whomever moves the warrior will also have to move the settler and finish the turn. Save and then upload. Certainly can save after moving the warrior.

Yep, starting save has been available for 48+ hours, and it's been almost 3 days since we've heard from aj. I can go ahead and get the ball rolling; I'll move the Warrior 1 SW and post a screen shot shortly.

The turn set roster order is....

1) Grifftavian Up Now
2) Ozbenno On Deck
3) timmy827
4) Ronnie1
5) Conquistador63
6) Sleepless
7) McArine

OK, moved the Warrior 1 SW onto the hill. Screenshots attached.

There are some Clams a little to the south, a city on the Hill could claim both the Fish & Clams, but would have much in the way of production.

The two rivers by the Settler merge together and flow off to the West, they do not go South. The Forest S-SW of the Settler that wasn't defoged could be Hill tile  maybe, it's hard to tell. :scan:

Well certainly nothing gained by moving South so my vote goes for the settler to move 1NW and hope for something in that direction.

That sounds OK to me. I think the only other option to consider would be moving the Settler 1NE onto the Corn, then 1 NW onto what we think may be a Hill. How certain are we that that is indeed a hill 2N of the Settler?

If we go NE-NW and that reveals nothing, and we decided to Settle in the starting location, we'd have to move back on turn 2 and settle on turn 3. If we move the Settler NW into the Forest on this turn, and it reveals nothing, we could move back to the starting location and settle on turn 2.

Other opinions?

Pretty certain from what I remember of the save it is a hill 2N of the settler. Problem I see moving that way is it might mean another 2 or 3 turns before we settle and possibly end up back where we started which still doesn't seem great to me. At least NW we can still settle turn 2 back in place or on the plains forest if it seems better. Also keeps the suspected flood plain SW - W in the BFC.

Tbh though don't mind using a few turns for a much better capital than what we would have if we SIP. Danger comes if we don't find a better place though.. ;)

Sorry I've been AWOL. Alas, this might be a theme for me for this game. I'm willing to go on record to state that I'd rather not play any turnsets this game.

I like the idea of moving on to the 2N hill this turn. I don't think we would be exploring around for too long as it's probably at least wise to stay close to the corn.

 Bummer! I'll go ahead and take you out of the batting order. If your situation changes and you can play a turnset, let us know, and we can put you in as a pinch hitter!

But :please: please :please: stick around to provide advice to the team!

Looks like we have one vote for moving the Settler 1NW (Sleepless) and one for moving onto the northern hill (aj). I'll hold my vote for now, in case we need a tie-breaker. What does everyone else think?
