SGOTM 16 - U'nu'sual S'us'pec'ts

I'm still following the discussions. Nothing to add. I like the new names and PPP in general. Neil has convinced me. "Let my Paris grow!"

I think Neil's arguments are pretty persuasive, so I would vote for the GP in Paris plan outlined above (if we are putting this to a vote).

And just so I am understanding this correctly: We need to research/obtain Math > Calendar in order to bulb Machinery, since both come before Machinery in the GS bulbing order, yes?

(i.e. a GS right now would bulb Math, if we research Math it would bulb Calendar. Only after researching both would a GS bulb Machinery)

Yes, that's correct.

One nice thing that BUFFY does is to show you the bulbing prefs of each GP with 2 pictures.
The first picture is the current bulb, as in if you did it this turn.
The second picture shows you what is bulbed after the current research plans are completed. This if we tech Maths, it shows Calendar. If you select Maths & Shift-Calendar, it shows Machinery.

Glad to see I'm persuasive :)

edit: and I am still praying for a GS in Paris.... :please:

Sounds good. I'm now heading out the door to go see 'Dredd' (its my birthday today, but for Xcal's sake, I will say I am 27 ;))

A belated happy birthday Neil. Though from your photo you look older than 27. Must be all those lentils and weed!

It was the glue sniffing.

Now thats a blast from the past.

Production can build the 2 WB after parthenon, as our best case plan has optics in 17 turns, but i think Production finishes parthenon in 12, but this is probably the next turnset.
They are in the second ring, so wont be available until 5 turns after settlement.

GREEN FROM ME

Edit: i only just noticed, but i forgot that we settled commerce on silk. So when calendar arrives, it gives us +3 happy, not 2. We have silk, sugar & incense

I've done a little bit more testing and the GP Farm micro I posted is tortured.

WHIP GP Farm next turn, for 26 overflow. Not in 2 turns.

Looks good. More great team analysis.
HBD to neil.

Only comment would be to reassign the cottage being worked by Prod to Commerce. prod can work the sheep and commerce can switch the unimproved FP to the cottages FP.

In fact, may want to whip the market in commerce, and then grow on to the cottage taken from prod.it would give the +6 gpt immediately. Then slow build the monastery.

Green from me.

OK - I should have time to play later tonight. Hopefully until the GP is born.

OK - I'm going to start playing.

One last question:

I've done a little bit more testing and the GP Farm micro I posted is tortured.

WHIP GP Farm next turn, for 26 overflow. Not in 2 turns.

GP from Paris first working
105 gpp's in bank in GP Farm
1 turns at 13gpp,
1 turn at 16gpp, any 2 mines need to be reassigned to a specialist & ocean to get 2 pop whip with o/f
Growth, WHIP, work all mines & resources and no specialists.
2 turns at 10gpp
3 turns at 13gpp, (at the end of 8 turns we have 193gpp's, Paris definitely pops first)
3 turns at 16gpp, (NE finished now, 10 turns from now)
2 turns at 32gpp, GS popped at 78% odds

If I am going to whip GPFarm next turn, I now need to reassign 2 mines to a scientist and a coastal tile, this turn (t122). Is that right?

No, just leave Gp Farm as it is, and whip next turn.

I waaaay overcomplicated the micro for no benefit

edit: as it grows back pop, assign them as scientists
edit2: the city should have no scientists (apart from TGL ones) after the whip

Cool - Also when you said to whip the Forge in Barb City for max overflow, is that this turn (I don't think it is, since the OF is something like 16 hammers, but I want to make sure)

I would wait 3 turns to get 27 overflow.

edit: But it depends on what you assign the next citizen as. Try to get between 23 and 29 overflow.

Good luck!!!!

That's a tough question, but it has to be NO for now.

Can you see Humbaba yet?
