SGOTM 16 - U'nu'sual S'us'pec'ts

If we have enough pop to win domination, doesn't that automatically exclude the diplomatic victory option.
In other words, we would have to win diplo first and conquer enough cities that same turn to give us the required tiles for domination.

This is doable, definitely, and would certainly not slow us down at all. I like it.

yup - that is exactly what i am suggesting. we would need to sync FT1 up with the voting cycle of the UN. that said, if we get 3 Legendary cities naturally w/o having to run the slider and burn multiple GAs, then this is easier.

What we could also do is cripple all the other AI in the late game where we will no longer need them for trading and pre build the UN so that the DV vote comes up the same turn we finish FT1 and culture or domination. Plus, if AI is crippled and we have only one non vassal left, we could also do a scorched earth technique to kill them in one/two turns.

Okay guys, I have not done any maths for a looong time :$ so I feel a bit slow. ahah.

Anyway, so far, we have:
Pop 1: Demo 1000
Pop 2: Demo 6000
Pop 3: Demo 21000
...

I know there is actually a numerical method to estimate the equation of the graph (but honestly, I can barely remember it is I thought it to very unnecessary  )

So is it a fair assumption to assume our graph will be in the form of:
y=Ae^bx?
y is the demographic population, x is the city population and a,b are constants...
wow I'm so forgetful

Perfect way to spend the start of your last year as a teenager

A teenager! you young whippersnapper :old:

I don't think the Demo populations are what count. It is the simple number of citizens isn't it?
And its a fibbonacci sequence I think. 1, 6, 21, 48, 90...... at least when I say I forget it's because I havent used these sequences for 20 years, in other words, before you were born!

OK, I have modified the PPP to reflect the opinions above.

Doesn't mean it is 100% settled, if anyone has objections, please raise them.

GREEN from me

This is all well and good, but we need the person actually playing the turnset to formally put the plan forward (or at least endorse this).

PAGING MR. SHANAHAN. PLEASE REPORT TO THE U'NU'SUAL S'US'PEC'TS WHITE COURTESY TELEPHONE. YOUR INPUT IS REQUIRED.

Thank you.

(And nice work/discussion Neil and Revent - GREEN from me.)

Edit: neilmeister - since Chris can't go next, are you OK going after Brian?

Well, in my last year as one now! What a sad life, doing tests on Civ on my birthday  I justify this by having plans for tomorrow night and the weekend! haha

Anyway, I was actually wondering this because I thought the population on the victory screen is dependant on the actual numerical size of the population rather than the 1, 2, 3, etc...

But it is not a Fibonacci sequence!! That is 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, etc...

Yet another roster update (trying to accomodate everyone's schedules. Let me know if I have this right):

Nothing sad about Civ on your birthday. :)

Green, if you need another one.

edit, OH and HAPPY BIRTHDAY Revent :bday:
Spoiler :
You are turning 19 and in a month my grandson will be 10. My youngest is turning 30 tomorrow.

I'm sorry I'm going to have to bow out of this game.

My life is way too hectic at the moment, with work, 3 nights a week gone for sport (hopefully through the winter), (re)learning to drive, and with a very spotty internet connection (a dongle shared between me and my parents, who've both returned to education).

I can play my set tonight if you all wish, I'll be able to read up on the thread and play accordingly, but I think it would be best if I passed on the game.

I am terribly sorry for the team, and for myself but time has completely disappeared on me over the last number of weeks. I will continue to support the team, contribute to discussions and remain a dedicated lurker but, unfortunately, that is the best I can do.

No worries Brian. Can i say that i am pleased to have played with you again, and that it was a wonderful surprise when you popped up again. I hope that your lurking is active, and you get involved in the discussions with gusto.

Oh, i guess its my go then.

I will play tomorrow morning, in about 10 hours, turnset should be 12 turns, until great lib is finished.

Hey gang, just decloaking from lurking for a moment to say hi and wish you good luck! Please stop talking about your ages, though; I prefer to deny reality and continue thinking of you all (and me) as in our late twenties. ;) By the way, the mention on the previous page of culture-induced city revolts reminds me that if you hover over the culture bar in the city screen it'll tell you what the probability of revolt is. Carry on, and good luck to Neil on his turnset!

I hope you keep lurking and commenting.

Oh I'll keep posting my "advice" don't worry, there's enough dead time at work for that at least.

Unfortunately though time constraints (I can't give up the GAA, I've lost between 7-10 kilos in weight from training, and I need a proper licence now I'm back out in the rear end of nowhere most beautiful bit of country in the land) and most especially a very bad amount of internet on my Civ laptop have killed my chances of playing this game to any competent level.

I'm bummed about it, but lurking you guys is good enough to get by.

OT See if you can pick me out:

It was taken before the (drawn) county final, last Saturday week.

Based purely on this post, I'm going to go for the bearded one holding the towel.
