SGOTM 19 - Also Sprach Sid

We have ~5 turns for research to matter, and cities that need to grow to either 10 or 15. Anything that doesn't match that can be squeezed for more beakers...

With all that being said and done, we've got an extra 100bpt. (1820)

Unless you'd like to check, I'll end turn and we can decide what to do with my bad luck :p

Well, what did you seriously expect...

Which of our cities are Confucian? I think we can shoot down the vote, but if not we need to reassess military police in Japan and Spain.

Good news on Alex's stack. The super Elephant killed his Spear and badly hurt his top Maceman.

Depends on what Nappy decides to vote... together we have a blocking majority so we may not get any anger at all.

Seville might suffer 1:mad:, all other cities are fine. The Woodsman Axe from Santiago is 1N so it's not an issue.

In terms of research... the following gets us T152 Medicine:
T148-T149-T150: 2065 bpt [Sci. Method - Biology - Biology]
T151: 1880 bpt [Liberalism]

So... bulb GS and trigger the last Golden Age?? ... see if I can squeeze out enough beakers ? This will require building research and looking for some more gold. It's at the cost of the war, but theoretically puts the final Sushi spread at T163. ... 15 turns enough to finish Alex+Napoleon?

The Napoleon war should be relatively swift since we'll be attacking from several sides at once.

Yes, bulb and trigger from me.

I really think Napoleon will crumple with a war on two fronts. If the west proves slow, the east will be easy pickings after we build two new mini-stacks. We could also build a few more Spies to deal with Ankara + his capital.

Nappy shouldn't vote to stop the war, since he's easily winning.

Good night.

Well... I pushed too hard lol.

Uploaded as is, we can tone down when everyone wakes up. Barb cities will start spawning, there's already one near Aachen.

Good playing Kossin :goodjob:

I'll be busy today and can be available for a turn tonight.

I think it is great btw that we swap turns every day. If we can increase our productivity and not have 10 turns on the last day/night, all the better!

In terms of research... the following gets us T152 Medicine:
T148-T149-T150: 2065 bpt [Sci. Method - Biology - Biology]
T151: 1880 bpt [Liberalism]

With the GS bulb , Biology is likely to be 1 turn research. T150 Liberalism.

In this case, we could hire more scientists and less merchants, gpt is allowed to go over 500~600g in this 2 turns and 3rd turns can be less, we could loot ~300g cash from 2~3 cities.

Building research in RP is way over. I'd continue on most of Cui production while hiring all scientists instead of merchants.

BS should grow instead of starving.

Edit: Play around the save a bit. If we have ~1800 beakers OF, then ~2200bpt On turnT148-149 are enough to complete Biology in 1 turn.

Spoiler :

Haha I know I'm a stranger but this looks pretty cool so you guys Both switch off taking turns on the same save file that's cool

Errr, yes. Not sure what I was smoking last night. We'll have Sushi on T151. 2077 bpt average should be enough, we can tone down next turn to be safe and leave the current turn as is (maybe less food wastage however).

Gogo T150 prediction, you were so close

Technically, that's what everyone's been doing, but just longer sets :mischief:

Well, that'd be incredibly funny to be honest :D

There are lots of micro comments I could make, but it's not the EOT, so I won't yet.

I agree with Duckweed's points. BS is the only debatable one, and I agree here too. BS has Forests for chopping, to be sure, but it is the pivot city for several northern Executives. At the very least, it can whip Cuirassiers for Nappy.

We should consider keeping some of Alex's cities. They add nothing, but fogbust and: (1) every barb city adds 4 Longbows to be defeated, so for every barb city, 2–3 Cuirassiers will be out of action for ~3 turns; (2) any barb city near the Kayseri area could slow a Missionary.

Scientific Method obsoletes TGL and Monasteries. We lose -57B in the capital, and -16B in Rice Pudding, totaling –146B on T149-50 with current set-up.

For fogbusting, the easiest option would be to pillage our iron when we're done making Cuirassiers and build Sentry Chariots (4xp) instead.

If Sushi spreading will not be the bottleneck here, then sure, we can keep some extra cities. Otherwise, 1 extra city will likely mean 1 extra turn, 6: 2 turns, etc.

Some questions/checks for the team...

  • Do we let Napoleon capture Baghdad? It may take him a few turns as he's bombarding but we could immediately move towards Basra and then Damascus, come back and wipe his stack in the city.
    Spoiler :
    jn1RZyB.jpg
  • Divert a few workers to BS for farms?
  • Workers priority: add roads to forests or missing direct routes; farm relevant tiles; move closer to the Sushi HQ area or pre-chop if too far away;
  • In light of expiring TGL and Monasteries... aim for 2200 bpt this turn and we can balance out next turn
  • BS set to growth. Any other cities? Note that no cities that we keep should starve. (starving HRE cities is fine)
  • Preferences for which units go first. I'm uncomfortable with 80% odds but that's just my luck :p

There are only 3 units (some are wounded) in Baghdad, easy pick and we gain loot.

I don't see any complexity of battles, safe odd (~95%) battles and then highest odd.

Please resume most of Cui build as I showed, military progress are tense now!

I'd raze cities, but start to send some units to fogbust, many cities do not need city police.

If Sushi spreading will not be the bottleneck here, then sure, we can keep some extra cities. Otherwise, 1 extra city will likely mean 1 extra turn, 6: 2 turns, etc.
We can gift and raze after giving them to HC. Not an option once we've eliminated Alex.

All of HC and Alex's land is at risk from barb cities, due to high numbers of food and luxury resources. I have suggested a few times (not to you) to move the Spears in Toledo and other Spanish cities into this area. Just as long as we have a plan.

Baghdad should be a safe capture, and a Combat III/March Cuirassier can take the first battle at ~90% odds. Easy :gold: , even if we lose a unit.

Without looking at the save, I won't comment in detail on Worker micro. We have ~8 Workers by the Whale City, though. The Worker building a road towards this needs to reverse direction on this turn or the next.

95% guideline is fine. Sometimes the odds of the best attacker will justify an 80–90% attack. I wouldn't attack with a Combat I Cuirassier @40% odds, if an 80% battle with a Combat III/Shock Cuirassier was also available, for instance.
