Why did we never build a Library in HF? It is our second highest commerce city.

Probably has something to do with all the people saying to build nothing but military, missionaries, and temples. I have tried to include some infra in my turnsets but there were many objections, so things like libraries tended not to happen.

As Sleepless noted, how much more tech do we need at this point? Assuming there is a non-paratrooper path to the Taoist holy city (and the others we have not found yet, although those do not seem likely to be a problem), then libraries now are probably too late to ever payback the investment.

Moving forward, we can gain some more land from the Romans and English. But we still need almost 20% more, and vassal contributions are halved. I do not see us reaching the domination limit without quite a bit more warring, and either not taking vassals or finishing off pretty much all but one AI. Still quite a lot remaining to be done.

I have a settler ready for the far East coast and just started one for the West which will be ready for settling once we have the Bud city.

Also do we want to keep Boniugrad. The conf city in the North. I would say yes especially as its likely to fall in my turnset... :)

If Bonuigrad will claim some land, then sure I think we should keep it. That assumes it isn't totally awful in terms of resources, of course -- I razed Jamesopolis because it had terrible resources and claimed very little additional land since it was so close to the Christian holy city.

It will be nice to finally get some knights on the map. :D

Pretty quiet again.

Things to note. Engineering is nearly in. Remember we have drama to trade for part of it with Cathie so should be there in 3 turns.

Settlers.

We have 3 built. 2 in the East and 1 in the West for the Bud site area. We need to decide where to settle them. One of them still has movement.

Tao holy city. It looks like we can take the city in the outer ring and either put a fort in and sail ships in. Or failing that go into US and but them.

Other holy cities have very little defence so shouldn't cause any problems.

Attacking AC. Doesn't seem very strong. A 2 prong attack from the North and South should see him capitulate very quickly (hopefully :lol:) Then capping Viccie should be easy. From there we can see how much land we need for domination.

Spreading religion. Very slow though engineering will speed up movement thankfully. Although I've started a couple of temples no real need till near the end. Though with AW priests are a good spec to run especially under rep.

I am pretty sure the circumnavigation bonus only gets awarded after the end of a turn. So the order of movement does not really matter.

I am glad that we will (hopefully!) get the bonus. It sounds like we will definitely need to do a good bit of troop ferrying, so the extra tile per turn will help a lot.

perhaps play until we get engineering. Make the troop movement easier anyway. :)

Just need to decide where to settle the East area. More of a land grab or resources?

Could one of us do a tile count of how much more land we need, and compare that to how much land we'll get from the last holy cities, and the opponents we still need to eliminate. Before we start settling too many cities.
More cities mean more religion spread, and I'd hate it if we pass domination limit before reaching all our goals.
 
McArine, we still need quite a lot of land. Not too long ago we needed like 20% more of total land, which was roughly 50% more than what we have. Even assuming we grab all of Augustus' land and all of one of the English, we will not be going over the threshold for domination. Especially if we vassalize them, since that only contributes 50% of the vassal's territory. Add the various holy cities and probably will still need to conquer an extra AI or two to hit domination.

For settling in the east, I think we are mostly in land grab mode. Most of the terrain over there was pretty poor -- desert and plains. Although maybe there was some seafood? I don't recall without checking the save. If we can get a few useful resources that would be great, but mostly we just want land I think.
 
Yeah, go for landgrab, but with enough food for temple whips later. Although probably in the final phase we should go US so we can rushbuy too.

Seems we can't avoid keeping a Tao city, so does that mean razing jews and muslims and keeping the rest? Sounds a bit reconquista (nazi if you will), but looks most logic to me now. ;)

Yay we've got engineering. Not sure what happened but Cathie got drama and engineering on the same turn. So guess she traded it with someone. Anyway gave Churchill music for it so no real problems.

We have the navigation bonus. Haphazard1 is right you get it at the end of the turn. Guess I haven't taken much notice of it before.. ;)

Troops are heading for Ac's northern city. His southern city is a bit better protected than I hoped so might be better to forget about that one. Although we do have a lot of troops on the way. Note I'm only building knights. We will need some more galleons although I think we should probably just upgrade the galleys although we will probably need more anyway.

Land were at 44% so getting close. That's why I've held off the conf cities. Might be to much once we've vassalled the other AI. ??

Tao city more knights near there and a galleon waiting for workers so we can build a fort next to it asap.

Religion spread is still very slow though will be much quicker now with engineering. I've been whipping missionaries asap so a few cities have a bit of whip anger but nothing they can' handle.. :lol:

Could one of us do a tile count of how much more land we need, and compare that to how much land we'll get from the last holy cities, and the opponents we still need to eliminate. Before we start settling too many cities.
More cities mean more religion spread, and I'd hate it if we pass domination limit before reaching all our goals.

We will have to be a bit careful on land but we can raze holy cities and eliminate AI instead of vassalling them so shouldn't be to much of a problem.

Edit. For Nocho. Will add some cities are building culture so remember to take them off as soon as borders pop. :)

Forgot to add. Rheims will pop a GP in 6 turns.4 if we apply a Spy spec. Guess we should run a GA if we want.

Tours is building a Christian temple. Ideally we want a Hindu missionary there for the next temple so we can run as many priests as we can. Might even be worth adopting pacifism/religion. Actually scrub that idea as we want OR to build missionaries.. :)

Another holy city with shrine, very nice. :) This gives us two religions for which we have shrines, so when we can choose we can spread a religion that generates cash. Every coin helps. :D

It's odd, as I recall you get it IBT; but I also have memories of moved units getting an additional movement point after it was complete. :confused:
Maybe a difference between versions?
