SGOTM 20 - The Shawshank Redemption

The way I see it. He's building whatever he's building. If he finishes and trys to build an archer (or switches to an archer), he will never complete it before we take the city. So move in. If he gets another archer, we wait for 5 chariots.

OK, played to t50... He completed a wb. It is sitting in the capital. Capital is now 40% culture...

We can hit it now with 3 units... HIt it next turn with 4, or in two turns with 5.

If we hit it now, we kill the wb. If we hit it next turn, wb is out, but probably not netting anything yet. In two turns, likely it will have netted something (how useful that is with the barb triem is questionble.)

With 40% culture, our first chariot, before promotion, has only 2% win chance, and about 10 % survival chance....

Again, I suck at war... My instinct is to wait until we have at least 4, and maybe even 5 chariots, but my instinct is worth very little, so I will follow advice here...

Well, with a fresh wb, it is impossible for him to get another defender. Seems like we are getting this city one way or another. Let LC chime in on whether to go in with 3, 4 or 5...and also the wb (whether we should let it out or not)

How is writing coming along? Are we building chariots #6 and #7? What are we going to do with 6 chariots (assuming only one dies?) Sule have a 3rd city? Where is it?

-Chariots 6 and 7 are being built.
-After that, I am tempted to go with library in capital (LC was also in favor.), 3 whipping it at the first oppertunity.
-Writting will complete when I hit enter.
-We then need one turn at 0% research before the next tech, but we need to decide on next tech soon.

-What's next for the chariots?? I have no idea...

Maybe don't finish #7 chariot?

And with the library. Probably never whip Twerks below pop4 (so be at least 7). don't just whip the library at first opportunity. (pop4 = sheep, sheep, cow, silver)

Capital...

If we want to wait to not whip down to size 3, then we will either have to 2-whip the library, or put hammers into something else in the meantime... Unfortuntaly, there is nothing else to buil...

We also have a "problem" in ruins... It will grow into unhapiness (size 5) in 3 turns, and has 7 turns left whip unhapiness... It has no way of converting extra food tiles to hammers (other than hiring a specialist citizen instead of working fish).... We can try to set up a library whip there, but that seems premature... There are no other two-whip available....

We could abort chariot 7 in ruins (about 14 hammers in it), and invest in a wb instead... This does not help the above mentioned grow into unhappy issue, but would get a wb out sooner.

I have to go and won't be around for hours. Sab Prod 172 was about 22h and the wb costs 30*85% = 26h, right? I think an archer costs 21 or 22h, I forget. Ideally, we cover as many hammer tiles as possible and get as many chariots there before he builds another unit.

Good luck!!!

Btw, it's sabProd / ~8 = hammers in build.

Well, if you build a settler, you won't grow into unhappiness.

RE: the attack. Seems like we should wait for 4 chariots at least, so let's go on to the next turn--if you have city builds chosen.

I think the team prefers to whip settlers tho, so maybe grow to size 5 or 6 on a wb. Who cares if you're angry...and then 3 whip a settler.

BTW, had I missed something.... Do we know where Napoleon is??

Yep, I spotted his culture. If you zoom out and turn on culture, you will see he shares tiles with Sule. I mentioned a while back that we would lose the crabs and maybe even our Wheat in Istanbul :(

We will need OB with him to get out of the channel.

That city might starve. We might have to 0h whip something. Maybe even a workboat? It's better to lure from Istanbul.
That would mean no wb in Ruins. Probably a library instead.

Yep, I had just noticed it on a zoom out before asking... That was the point... I had missed your previous report...
