I don't think we have any spare confu missionaries.
Also, the capital is about to lose a lot of production, so there won't be more soon.

I also see the northern ice as maybe blocking. But blocked would explain no AI wbs. T102 we may find out from SB’s maps. Do we delay the galley?

Is it possible to whip a galley first and do the civic switch at T95? If so, I would suggest not taking wb out of queue in this turn and wait for the next turn to see whether the path to north is completely blocked or not.
If we see no ice on T94 and delay galley, but find our way blocked on T95, we are 2 turns slow finding the southern AI.
If we see no ice on T94 + T95 and don't whip galley, but find our way blocked on T96, we won't be able to whip a galley and it will take ?????? turns to meet southern AI.

Yes. It’s quite common to whip before switching out of slavery in the same turn.

We have 100% scouted Peter's pre-Astronomy land (unless he can make a culture bridge thru the ocean.) There are 5 tiles of darkness preventing circum-nav, so even a +1 vis chariot on both ends would not help. And optics is +2 sight right? that also doesn't help. We need a caravel.

Peter's workboat is 2S1W of cows. SB's scout is 2S1W of science. If the scout is to move along the coast, they are meeting in no time.

Very promising.

Peter has 2 Wine, so Monarchy should help him out a lot.

Now that we know Peter, the good techer, was not working on Alphabet, should we try to tech Alphabet ourselves in 2 turns with Rep/Caste if SB+Peter meet?
It will let us get Iron Working and Monarchy from Peter and improve gems + wine.

We can trade gems to Peter.

We can also trade Civil Service to Peter and try to get him Friendly with us once he shares Bureau with us.

Well, if he settles close we can steal his techs or flip him into caste easily I guess.
Or burn down his empire and steal his treasury from his wheat city.

Hopefully he will get on that galley and settle the empty island up north.

I want Peter in Bureau too. I think we have to bribe him or else he won't switch until T120, right? 25 turns after his last switch.
We need to try to get some techs from SB cus we're gonna run out of stuff we want to give Peter.
Monarchy. We should just be patient and get that from SB. Maybe even SB comes thru with Alpha.
SB should be our Philo target. Especially since we kept OB.
Peter could get us Feudalism, but not likely fast enough.

Have you considered that this is not Deity and the AI aren't as fast at teching as you're used to. Also, we only know 2 AI so we're putting a lot of faith in 2 random selections for what they tech next.

On the flip side, other than IW and Monarchy, what techs could we use right now? How much is not having IW, Monarchy and these other techs hurting us?

I am happy to get IW and Monarchy in trades.
This was not possible the last time we discussed Alphabet 10 turns ago.

We know Peter is not working on it. He just completed Monarchy.
We will not meet new AI in the next 10 turns due to ice.

The only way we are getting Alpha soon for free is from Sitting Bull.

Why tech Alpha?

Because we can gift 2 civs with the Philosophical trait Math, Alphabet, Meditation, and Code of Laws and they will likely bulb Philosophy for us.

We can put Peter on the fast track to Friendly by trading him civil service.
He will tech much faster for us with bureau.

Take the free IW and Monarchy now that our workers are free.
Improve gems, iron, and wine before we have to start chopping for oxford.

Give them all the tech we have now so they will tech something good for us like Monotheism or Feudalism.

Grab Archery now and it won't count as WFYABTA for the 4 new AI.
Get the gold and +4 mods from Pete and SB.

The AI are backwards.
Maybe they will ask for a free tech and we get +1 diplo that way.


Whoever gets Philosophy will no longer be Friendly though once they switch to Taoism. :hmm:
Might have to avoid getting a religion T107.
