The thing about blowing our army now is that we can't help reduce HRE votes later.

We can move our army west right now, and then ask Saladin to attack the western city.
Then take the city after he weakens it.

Bribe Bismarck back into the war to take Aachen once he rebuilds his army and we are comfortable.

With a 4th Catapult that arrives down there T192, we can come back, hit the island city 1st with a Collateral Damage 3 Catapult and then wipe it out no matter how many defenders it has.
CD3 Cata is like hitting a stack with 2 catapults.
 
Have you got the catapult promotions already? I'm thinking about giving the 1st catapult drill+ barrage. Drill is for countering longbow first strikes so that it has a larger opportunity to do damage to the strongest longbow .

One catapult has 2 promotions. It has City Raider 1 + Barrage
Catapult in our capital has 4 promotions.
 
I see there are forts on the fur. Have we accounted for all the units? or are there some outside the city?
Do we get anything for pillaging a fort?
 
:hmm: We probably shouldn't have scared the island into whipping all those defenders.
1 musket + 2 cats would been enough to soften it up.
And being stuck on an island, they won't likely move to another city.

So, let's see if we can get the units moving around and pick them off.
pillage the cottage 1S of chariot and cover with musket.
bombard, heal 1 cat, evac 3 other units,
next turn evac 3 more, probably drop 1-2 musket in the south once units move around.
It's gonna require some patience.

leave the roads I think. Or at least the 2 south so lb's can move 2tiles away.

I don't think Forts give pillage money no.

It still shows up on espionage screen, so I think it hasn't been destroyed yet?

We can evacuate and pillage the island in 3 turns sure.
Pick off the workers trying to fix things and use them as bait.
1 Galleon really makes things slow-going though :sad:

Heroic Epic in Silver City can make a 2nd Galleon with 40:hammers: :deal:

Germany had a fair sized stack.
I've seen 1 AI suicide and then a 2nd swoop in, so I got the Cease Fire to drag things out.
Germany is ready and willing to DOW again when we want.

If we want to go nuclear on Charlemagne, we could give Bismarck and Saladin Gunpowder, Military Tradition, and Guilds.

A bunch of Cuirassiers match up with Longbows very well.
 
I've always preferred to have the war drag out until the end just to make sure we keep the full shared-war bonus with all of the AI. They are horrible at naval invasions. So maybe HRE beefing up the island is telling us that we should just let the war drag on until the end of the game. ;)
 
Smart thing feels like getting conquer gold before the GM mission.
Let's just play on--taking 3 units off the island this turn --and see how things progress.

If we want to fade the island, how about this?

T188
Pillage road 1S with chariot, move musket 1E, and send chariot 2S
Galleon drops off Chariot 1S of Clam and pillages clam, picks up 3 Muskets, then heads northeast 1 square
Caravel promotes to medic and heals

T189
Musket moves to 2N of Aachen.

Chariot pillages cottage 2S of island city
Other chariot pillages hamlet + cottage east of island city
Musket pillages road 1SE of island city
All 3 roads surrounding island city are destroyed

Cease Fire, Musket teleports to Germany hopefully from 2N of Aachen.
Both Muskets can go pillage the western city

Everyone left on the island (7 units) teleports to Profit island
Galleon with 3 Muskets lurks close to island city
Caravel comes south to spot for Galleon

T190
Caravel looks for Workers by entering enemy waters
Workers move out of island city to fix the roads?
DOW
Pounce on workers and Longbows with amphibious Muskets that have Cover promo
Use Workers as bait in the future

Starting bringing over 3 units at a time again from Profit Island
Our Galley helps ensure it is 3 units each turn by sailing 2 units out every turn to 2W of island city :whipped:
Then sailing 1E, grab 1 more sail 1W, fill up Galleon with 3rd unit, then 1E again.
Good old chaining to help shorten sailing distance for Galleon

Bismarck and Sal both have the same pop. last I looked.
19 less than Peter.
No way that horse Archer army is taking Aachen against 2 super heroes.
Maybe if Sal had 1st strike immune knights.

The musket will be able to see the fur at 3S when it moves to forest. Do that before the chariot in case there is a longbow there.

I like all 3 roads because our galleon can pounce without encountering any Triremes.

Ugh, if a LB guards a forest worker, we probably can't attack that from the sea, but the other 2 tiles sure.

Hopefully we will have 2 muskets heading west to Vienna using Bismarck's roads soon ya.


We could send just the 1 musket to pillage Vienna and keep the other to put an even larger attack on the island city though?

8 muskets and 4 catas would be better than 7 and 4
 
Also, if HRE's mainland cities fall, Bismarck will probably be Pleased with them due to lack of close border tension.
Not sure if we care or that complicates anything.
