[BTS] SGOTM 26 - Home Slices

Any exploration advice? I was planning to drop the scout off in the NW as soon as possible
yeah, then he can hop back on if it's a small island. We sometimes do these scouting moves before upload, but not sure what we would learn that affects us. Meet an AI?
Maybe you should move now.

I think we can get IW in 2 turns (with some overflow from CoL) So that would be T83 we start on gems with 4 workers.
Someone should finish Science's 3rd farm before then. Ideally T81 (then on to gems)

Before consider playing, you should test ahead to see how that IW lands or if we need to massage it.

Workboat 10 (Born in Cow City on Turn 77)
T77 - Sail for Whale City to net 3rd seafood on Turn 87

I don't know what Whales is going to do with +11 food. How about sending this to 2Clams so it can focus on granary, lh, library?
edit: oh, borders.. someone said that already. Hmm.

SilverCity :
T79 : 2-whip lh for maxOF
Mids/Moai

Are you sure we want to 2-pop whip here 2 turns after having whipped the wb? Keep in mind that we're whipping the citizens off the silver mine and fur which will reduce the OF :science: into IW. I'd rather wait until we grow 1 more pop and then 2-pop whip the LH so that we can keep working the silver mine.

I think you get the point tho. Make sure this city is ready to contribute to the next Stone-less turn. When is that?
Probably when Cows is ready to whip a Dun into the Mids after the granary and LH are done.

It could sail towards 2 clam and if we don't get Confusianism founded there, it can sail on to net the seafood in Canal.

Done. Nothing too interesting yet.

T80 - Revolt to Beauraucracy
T81 - IW (3 turns)
T84 - Start on gems with 4 workers

There is no way to pull in IW to 2 turns unless we follow the original plan, whip less, work scientists, etc. so that we have more OF from CoL. I don't think we want to do that though. So it's 2.6 turns for IW -> 3 turns.

Rex uses his spare turns to build a road connecting the rice (via the horse tile). This might be something SB demands or we could possibly use the extra health down the road anyway.
SB has 2 roaded rice himself and he is willing to trade that rice.

OK. We could use the Rice anyway; a single worker has time to road it now and finish the farm in Science before IW comes in.

If someone has something better for that worker to do, I'm fine with that too.

Agree.

Here's a new plan I'm loving. See if you can shoot holes in it:

CoL 80, IW 83
T83: (delayed Bureau + caste /anarchy)

Now, there's no question, 2Clams pops borders with an artist. wb goes there.

Here's the real reason:

SilverCity - this is the reason we delay caste. To get to size 8
T75 LH (to grow and keep working silvermine)
T76 whip LH
T77+ wb (sorry whales, you have to suffer a couple turns)
here's where it gets good...
T80 start a library, Grow (work Deer Camp)
T81 grow
T83 Size 8 with 22f (unhappy, but who cares, it's anarchy)

Now we need 6 turns of caste or 5 with starvation
T84 Happy! from gems (Work 6 Scientists at -4fpt) (option: work 6, 6, 7, 8, 7 -- starves 2)
T89 or 90 bulb Philo. (Slavery, Pacifism), Anarchy

T100?-ish (Rep, Caste)
for Edu bulb(s), not our long caste run
--------------------------------------------------
Or,
maybe we can do Bureau Caste T81, without IW/gems, and with size 7 SilverCity starving 1. So the Deer camp is probably not necessary.
That'd be T88 Philo, slavery, pacifism.

We can't afford to switch to Rep, Caste, AND pacifism for the Edu GS's, so we get Pacifism set and live without OrgRel.

Gotta plan for those 5 turns without slavery. Shouldn't be too hard. Just whip b4.

That plan sounds good and gets us the GS we so badly need (and a border pop in Clams to boot).

Preference on option 1 (Revolt T83) or option 2 (Revolt on T81)? The former gives us more time to prepare and whip things; the latter gives us the GS a turn (or 2?) sooner. I'm fine with either.

EDIT: I haven't worked through the details to know if growing to the required pops is possible or not. Looks like you plan to grow 2 turns in a row??

The plan looks good. There is a uncertain factor: the location of the Confucian Holy city. If it is in either cows/profit/canal/clams, we can easily transfer the 1st missionary to capital where we have enough organic hammers for a monastery and missionaries. What if it is in either whale or silver? After we switch to caste, build monastery and missionary with organic:hammers:, it still needs some time to travel to other cities to spread religion. Does that make early Philosophy/Pacifism less lucrative?

Well, we're not really planning to use Pacifism until MIds(Rep + return to caste)
It's just that we need a 5-6 caste window to get that GS. And it's nice to switch to caste for free (w/ bureau) and also free Pacifism with return to slavery ~T89.
Then! Don't forget we get a 2nd chance. We get Tao + missionary. Maybe that is located better and we use it instead of Confu.

Yep, I tested it all the way to size 8. We have food to spare (22 in the bin to be exact)
With the Deer it was +13fpt. Not sure we need the Deer. I'm thinking maybe we do the size 7 (no deer) eariler Bureau, earlier borders for 2Clams. Depends on the failgold plans I suppose.

The dun math keeps surprising me.

Ya, Profit City can totally put 4 more :hammers: into Dun on T75 and it will turn into 8:gold:
Is there an article explaining how it works? This one doesn't explain the change in 3.19 patch. My rusty memory tells me that some of the excess hammer can be wasted, i.e. not converted to OF hammer or gold.
