[BTS] SGOTM 26 - Unusual Suspects

    Good idea - one of the settlers should start heading towards the 4 food site so that if we decide to settle, we can do it right away.

    Maybe another of the settlers should occupy the northern land so that if iron pops, we have something up there - I'm thinking we'll eventually settle something north of Bib. I'm not so sure we can use the land south of Vienne or Tolosa.

    Sorry, I got called away Fri/Sat and won't have time tonight (Sunday). Tomorrow night would be first chance. I would summarize the PPP, then give you all 24hrs to give the go-ahead, so a total wait of about 48hrs from now. If someone else can and wants to take it, say "Got It" and go ahead.     Adjusted PPP (based on Zhary's ideas):
    • Slider to 0% until Bib is done with library. (+5 BPT)
    • Bib works furs as soon as library is done, instead of Deer. Then finish WB, then SH until it maxes out without building it.
    • Vienne - Warrior move to Tolosa. Put hammers into SH next turn - and then stop. Then a library. One chariot after library.
    • Tolosa - Switch from forest plains to improved furs next turn. Worker begins mining PH's until wheel, then roads from wheat to furs. Put hammers into SH after Bib maxes out, or library.
    • Gergovia builds warrior next. Then another WB, then library.

    Units:
    • Workboat near north island sheep to explore SB's north coast. Pay careful attention to corners, might get lucky, probably won't.
    • Workboat on Clam by Tolosa improves it next turn.
    • Workboat by SB keeps exploring coast down there.
    • Settler South of Vienne migrates North of Bib.
    • Settler North of Bib migrates to the 4 food site by Gergovia.
    • Workboat on our South coast cuts through Poverty Point and explores SB's North/East coast.
    • Bib's workboat upcoming will scout Western islands - prefer South coast to North coast.
    • Gergovia's WB will improve crab. Work the silver instead of the coast to speed up the workboat - the WB will finish slightly before the border pop, so make sure it's in place to improve the fish on as soon as borders pop. Worker improves horses, then furs, then roads the silver. Gonna be a nice city.

    Hi guys! Something reminded me of civ 4 recently, so I checked the old forums. I haven't played civ or posted in the forums for 5 years now, and it's not really in the cards for me anytime soon, but I just wanted to say hello to the old gang! It's so cool you are still playing this game! :)

    What games are you playing these days?

    Regarding our game, my time is still very limited (although hope to finish botm193 tomorrow night). Ought to be more involved at end of week or next week.
    So, I trust whatever you do. But save a settler (or two) in case we need access to an area that we need to settle to reach.

    Peter was also not on my original list, and with play testing, it shows that Peter could only be in the game if he was gifted something extra to start with as well.

    The map makers did a good job obfuscating who was in the game this time with their building / tech gifts!

    Any idea how happy with us he needs to be to trade techs (non-monopoly techs, since he should meet SB in short order). Same question for SB.

    Will trade techs that don't unlock units or buildings to human when 10% of the other AIs also know the tech

    Nice playing @kcd_swede - the scouting is interesting - with these islands, i think we got a good shot at an early circumnavigation.

    I think I'm green to continue the PPP after meeting Peter. I still want Wheel and Sailing -though alpha has some value now. Main new question is should we apply our Espionage points to Peter instead of SB before continuing?
    • I think we got a pretty good handle on what SB is bringing to the table, and since Peter is a more likely trader, we'll get more from seeing what he's teching. Or since SB will likely try to use spies against us, should we keep tabs on him? Espy is not a strength of mine.
    Cities:
    • Looks like we can get Wheel in 2 turns, and Sailing should come in pretty fast after that. Not sure if we should work the furs in Bib and forgo growing, or if it's better to grow to 6 first. fur tile is worth 6 :science: now. Seems like getting the econ techs a little sooner might be better, since that last pop isn't going to do much, so my gut says work the fur.
    • Vienne has a superior ability to running specialists than Bib. Vienne should run 2 scientists once it reaches size 6 and has the library. (in 6 turns).
    • Tolosa should work the mine once it's built over the plains forest - it's already out of good tiles, so a library will be nice there once SH fail gold comes in.

    T-56 and no SH yet! That's an interesting benchmark. Seems especially slow.
