Well, I don't know what else we can do.
Probably we should give up Delhi so Trondheim isn't a border town.
We could put up a stack of warriors and MDI in the hope a MA blitzes a few times and generates a leader.

I havent looked at the save but what happened to the idea to start building the spaceship to encourage competition?
 
Well, as soon as I hit Enter Isabella joined Gandhi's war against us, so the Indians aren't getting uranium or aluminum. :wallbash: My inclination now is to use the war to remodel Spain's empire so that they have just enough cities to control two uranium, two aluminum, two gems, and two furs, all with harbours built by us. I think I'll raze Zaragoza, unless someone sees a reason not to do so.

The Indians have landed five MA on our underdefended island east of our old homeland. We could hold it by airlifting units in, but it seems to me that we might as well let them have it, as preferable to Gandhi's compulsively building units to send there.

I also incline towards evacuating our home continent entirely, so that there'll be no ground threat at all to keep the Indians building military units.

So, any comments?

BTW, to answer Killer's question, we've built Apollo and one spaceship part. I may build a few more.
 
Well, the question is, with Isa so unreliable, if we just should kill her and wait till Gandhi comes to claim some resources in our land. I don't think he will raze small resource towns.
Gandhi might even start a war against Isa at some time (probably at the most unconvenient time then). Isa has betrayed him several times already so he probably doesn't like her. So we should look in any case that Gandhi gets the vital resources himself.

Would be nice to steer him first to only aluminium and Uranium only after he built Apollo (if ever :cry: ).

Anyways I would also give up the north of our original island.
If we keep Spain around we should probably wait until she makes peace and gift the cities to her. I don't think the cities add anything to Gandhi's empire.
On the small island I would rather give up all cities except 1 or 2.
But if we kill Isa we should better keep it and defend the coastline in the future. We don't want Gandhi to win by domination :)

1600 (0): We abandon Delhi.

The Spanish ally with the Indians and sneak-attack us, ineffectively. The Indians are thus cut off from both uranium and aluminum.

The Indians take Tromso and don't raze it, so gaining control of Adam Smith.

The Indians wipe out a stack of three warriors by attacking with three different units, so the scheme of getting their MA to promote to elite this way seems unlikely to work.

1605 (1): We raze Zaragosa, held by three MA and three TOW (8-0). We replace it with Alesund.

We take Neu Farsund, Neu Risor, Neu Svolvaer, Copenhagen, New Bergen, Thunderfall, New Trondheim, Augustodurum, and New Hareid (with a Berserker, after bombing), and raze Valencia and Vitoria. We destroy 11 mech inf, 4 TOW, and 3 inf, losing 1 MA (26-1). We capture two workers and a settler. We generate the Great Leader Healfdene, used for a factory in Elverurn.

We pick off an Indian swordsman to teach Gandhi to make his attacks with serious units (27-1). :D

The Indians attack vigorously (and luckily) on the eastern island and at New Farsund, destroying six of our mech inf for the loss of two MA (29-7).

We lose an empty transport to India's AEGIS cruisers (29-8).


1610 (2): We raze Salamanca, held by a TOW (30-8).

We take Lindum, held by two TOW (32-8).

We wipe out the Indian presence on the eastern island (four MA and a mech inf; 37-8). We gain 132 gold and 135 gold for the two minor towns we retake, so Gandhi has plenty of cash.

We take New Oslo (again with bombers and then a Berserker) and Ratae Cor., eliminating a mech inf and two TOW, and sinking a destroyer in port (41-8).

We overrun a Spanish MDI/warrior stack with MA (43-8).

We lose an MA as the Indians continue attacking around New Farsund (43-9).


1615 (3): We take Southern Pike and raze Pamplona, extirpating a TOW, two spearmen, five destroyers, and three transports, while losing a bomber (54-10).

We lose a mech inf and an inf around New Farsund (54-12).


1620 (4): We take Lapurdum and Neu Tromso, destroying two TOW, and reduce Isabella to one city (56-12).

We found Bodo to give to Isabella when we make peace, and Karasjok on the ruins of Pamplona.

We sink a Spanish nuclear submarine with bombers (57-12).

Ugh, the Indians are in fascism.

Around New Farsund we destroy an MA and lose a mech inf (58-13). The Indians gain a Great Leader in this fighting, and don't use him immediately (i.e. I see him in 1625).


1625 (5): Isabella will make peace. We gift her six cities, all with harbours (unless landlocked), so that she controls two uranium, two aluminum, two gems, and two furs. We also send her 50 gpt and wool, in hope of controlling her stupid habit of selling harbours. We do this--the peace treaty, a RoP, and the gifting--as five separate deals. After this we still control Alesund (uranium) and Southern Pike (aluminum) with which to tempt the Indians.

We found three fill-in cities in the former Spanish homeland.

Well, my apologies. I should have posted this half-round a few days ago, but I kept thinking I'd have the chance to play the rest. RL didn't work out that way. :( At least I've restored the position we had before Isabella's PITA sneak attack, so I hope the turns to come will go a lot more quickly than the ones I've played.

Three elite victories this round produced one Great Leader.
 
Gandhi's Great Leader is one tile from New Farsund. I think the Indians will have aluminum and uranium by the start of their next turn, though it depends on the details of the AI's sequence of play. I hope someone knows a way of encouraging Gandhi to use the GL for Apollo. ;)

We might have one remaining way of influencing the Indians' behavior, which would be to leave them with no options at all for offensive war. This would involve not gifting the northern-peninsula cities to Isabella, but rather evacuating or abandoning them, while putting up a complete coastal defense either everywhere else (certainly including Isabella's land), or everywhere except at the uranium (Alesund) and aluminum (Southern Pike) cities we'd like the Indians to take. Finding the units for the full coastal wall won't be hard if we resume rushing workers. This might help convince Gandhi to build the spaceship and wouldn't really cost us anything, so I think we should do it. I've already arranged complete coastal defense for our various islands, apart from Southern Pike's, and started constructing it on our (new) home continent.

We can fit in at least five new coastal cities in Spain, and I've rushed the necessary settlers.

There are workers and a settler fortified in Santander on the northern peninsula.

Our bombers are in Entremont and Washington, and on the eastern island off our original continent.

We've completed two spaceship parts. We can easily enough build another seven if anyone thinks it would help.

We've made some progress in building a real core around Entremont, in particular at Elverurn.

I really think we should either get rid of the northern peninsula (to Spain or India) or block the coast and block the choke with armies (maybe with some cities gifted to Spain, to block some tiles). I don't like Gandhi to suicide his units on our strong units.

Blocking the coast everywhere where we don't want Gandhi to go is a good idea. But note, workers will not work for ever. At some time Gandhi will probably research marines. We could draft some mechs. They could first stay in the cities drafting to counter unhappiness and later go to the coast.

We should prune a few cities around Entremont so the fresh water and aqueduct cities can at least reach size 12.

The Indians sink our battleship w/ an AEGIS cruiser. The AI is so stupid. Quit building ships! They land 5 MA behind our last stronghold in former Vikingland.

Turn 1

Settle several cities in former spanish lands. The Indian leader goes one tile over the border under the cover of 2 TOWs. Built Fuel cells in Entremont.

Completed the coastal defense in Celtia. Working on Spain.

India has aluminum, rubber, and the green ****.

Turn 2

Storage module built in Entremont. An elite Indian MA kills a warrior and a conscript mech, and burns new farsund.

Sell off all improvements in our former viking holdings as the indians will overrun the position next turn.

I spend 700 gold trying to find where the Indian leader went but cannot locate him. I might try to steal military plans next turn.

Turn 3

Steal Ghandi's military plans. India has no army, and has no space parts in progress. He must have used the leader to build a stupid temple or something. Maybe the FP but I doubt that.

The Indians take a dumb route to our cities and dont take a single one in Viking land.

Abandon two cities in the core to free up some room. We have some unhappiness problems cropping up, as expected.

Turn 4

Abandon our last city in Vikingland.

Draft some mechs out of cities we will abandon at some point.


Turn 5

The Indians have begun building.... Shakespeares theater in Ta Tu, to complete in 102 turns.

We are paying for troops again, 25 gpt.

Turn 6-10

Finish the blockade in Spain.

Democracy and 6 gold for Robotics with Spain.

India has 6K gold in the bank.

Some workers are currently unmoved. The Indians love to bombard New Hareid, Karasjok, and our eastern island off the coast of india.
 
Wow it censored "green g - o - o - k". We can maximize the resettling of our new core if we would like, there is more room for Elverum and Batsjford now.

India is researching rather nicely, which isnt the best. Assuming India never launches, if the tiebreaker is # of SS parts built, I assume everyone will have 9 done. Then I would think it would go to score, so perhaps we should milk a bit while we are waiting?

We should continue to replace workers on the coast with mechs I suppose, and then we will need some more mechs for coastal city defense. Im at a loss on what else to do.

Tiebreaker is number of parts india has.. not the players.. next timebreaker is how many techs/research india has
 
Well, this is getting really pointless. Perahps we can just let someone press enter untill Gandhi launches or untill 2050AD? :D The only thing we have to watch for is wonders: if Gandhi starts building a wonder in a more or less productive city we can build that wonder ourselves and force him to switch it to something else. I cannot think of anything else.
 
Well, there are still a few things to do.
We should let Gandhi have his own resources (Isa has again lost her harbors) by selectively freeing some coastal tiles.
If he wants to build one wonder he should. He will get a GA from that. It's not clear if this is better now or in 100 turns :crazyeye: .
 
zzzzzzzz, we need an invasion force. What if India decide to build Apollo in another crap town? We need to raze it then to try and get them start it in a productive city.
