Hey Wacken, I started the game quite early, but got stuck up with stuff (back problems and teenage duaghter problems) And then this damn X.mas preiod, that just drives me crazy.

So I won't be able to finish the SID-game, I only have a save for 1000BC and it's about 29 towns with 48 pop, some 15 workers and all contacts. (edit - I have 4 settlers to go to, where to?)

Someone will have to make a map for us to make it equal, mate.

Oh, well, i am gonna finish this SID game, you will see the results soon. I have much less cities, but more pop and a massive army of swords at 1000BC :)
 
Short interim report:
Have not been able to finish yet. Will do tomorrow morning. We are at 630AD, have entered the IA. I have gifted Otto into IA, They recieved Medicine but would not part with it for anything worth accepting. I have gifted a newly founded city on the small island to them (we own two locations there) and will DoW them to take their northern capital. We should be able to get Medicine in a peace deal later. Have started to land forces in Spain. They move south towards Celt territory.

After Action Report:
Spain is on an island so I have begun to extract units landed there and debark them in Celt territory. One Amy can land on Iron mountain next turn. The second amy should be able to embark next turn unless the Spaniards deny it access to embarkation.

Have started to use Thunderfall as embarkation site for transport across the ocean.

Ottomans have New Aarhus as their remaining location. They have Medicine and Music Theory. We should be able to get Medicine in a peace deal. And keep them around until Modern Age for a final “free tech”.

Steam Power in two turns.

So i am up and will play before New Year

I will have to study the save and the thread... we took a long pause and i was away from civfanatic's affairs. :) . Alternatively, you can just tell me few points on what you think is best to do next and i will decide whether i should argue for or against it.

Great start Gozpel. I had an embarassing 10 towns, and hadn't even learned mapmaking to get off the start island. I think I should have given up ( especially as the game was very slow) but felt strangely impelled to complete an iffy game.

Landing in Celt territory and starting to reduce them is the main concer. Not much to discuss I guess. Good luck.

pre-turn:switch Vadso from barracks to market.... Hired few specialists in corrupted cities.

IBT: Celtic longbow kills our knight.

T1. 660AD. Resistance in Izmit ended. Celts upgraded pikes to musketmen. vet. Knight killed longbow and promoted to elite. Landed first army on celtic land.

IBT. Celtic knight attacks our army and dies. We can build iron works :). Celts built Bach's

T2. 670AD. We can build Iron works in Birka. :) Cool... Richborough captured with no losses.
Sieging of Philadelphia (belongs to Celts) failed. :( I lost 4 knights to 2 reg pikes.
Started research on Industrialization in 4 turns at 80%. Doesn't feel right to waste our Golden Ages researching MTs.\

IBT. Our knight kills 2 attacking celtic knights but dies when 3rd attacks him. Celts finished Knights Templar.

T3. 680AD. Philadelphia captured - no losses. More knights arrived on celtic land. Iron Works will be finished in Birka in 11 turns.

IBT. Celts moved 4 MDIS on top of mountain next to captured Richborough. I am afraid to attack them on the mountains.

T4 690AD. Trying to figure out ship hops across the ocean now that we have a foot hold on Celtic land.

T5. 700AD. Eboracum captured. Agedincum captured lost only 2 knights. Making peace with Ottomans. Give them Steam in exchange of medicine + 30gpt. Military rail is completed. Have bunch of workers ready to improve our core.

IBT. Massive attack from celts. lost 3 knights killed none.

T6. 710AD Industrialization came switched to Electricity. Killed bunch of celtic troops.

IBT. Deal expired with spain. will renew. Celt knight attacks and dies.

T7. 720AD. I have to renegotiate luxury deal with Spain our cities are going to riot. I bought furs and gems+64gold+6gpt for Gunpowder+banking+incense+dyes. t looks like Celts use american land to sneak attack us. I made a deal with Lincoln and signed MA against Celts. Move an army and knights to the next Celtic city. Short-rushed factory in Trodheim.

T8. 730AD. Camulodunum captured along with Knights Templar. Celts had only chance to build one. Miraclously we haven't lost a single unit although every single knight was used. New molde is Founded. Move couple of knights on celtic iron.

IBT. Resistanse ended in couple of captured celtic cities. Spain built Sistine.

T9. 740AD. Started factory in Reikjavik. New Alesund is founded. Finally... single elite attack this turn and leader is born. Built another army.

IBT. :mad: I am really mad. Camulodunum deposed. Good news i just moved armies and healed knights out of that cities, but we lost 6 wounded knights :cry:

IBT: Our Golden ages ended.

T10. 750AD. Recaptured Camulodunum. Captured Verulanum. Georgovia should fall next turn.
Moved stack of knights near Gergovia. It looks like i forgot to look after sci. slider. Turn it all the way back to 10%. Electicity comes next turn. (it would be 2 turns if i put it to 0%)

Post turn: Ship hopping is established from Thunderfall to Philadelphia. Celts are not going to be an issue but the end of next player's turn. We have 3 settlers in Celt's land to populate it. Sorry about forgetting the tech. slider. Haven't played Civilization in quite a while, getting rusty. Please switch Karasjok from MDI to something more apropriate, it was a default build this last turn and i forgot to change.

P.S. Put tech slider back to 10%.... i really messed it up :rolleyes:

Ok it's my turn.

I have opened the save and bumped science to 10%.

America is at war with India. I didn't think those guys were supposed to know one another, or did I miss something.

I am afraid I didn't notice the save until late tonight, as I am going away for a couple of days now for new year so I won't get to play until Tuesday at the earliest. Clearing my head of the Sid game nonsense and my increasingly frustrating efforts at civ4 will be good anyway.

Do we sidetrack to MT or not: it would make the rest of the conquest phase a lot easier.
 
I didn't look at the last save and i can't do so now.

How is our research doing, do we need a lot more ground for ICS or are we fine ? If we don't need much more, conquest is not a priority and we should IMO not do MT.
If we do need a lot more, i am still in doubt if we should get MT.

Does anyone else than America know India ?
i don't think it will be a big problem.

Having abandoned cotm19 feels good. Looking at other peoples results, it still feels like a moral win for me anyway :)
I havent touched civ4 in weeks and i probably wont in months :)

No.. I missed something and screwed up when I made the C3C saves...
I managed to put america and india in locked war by accident.
We decided to let the individual teams know if/when they discovered it.
 
I doubt we need to lose 4 turns researching MT. so i vote "No"
We have 3 knight armies. That should be sufficient to get rid of all opponents fast. With factories and Iron works we will produce enough knights to kill'm all without worries.

We can do 4 turn research for now. But i am not sure if we will fit in 4 turns researching those 2 expensive technologies that lead to Hoovers.

However, if we ICS Celts land (we already have 3 extra setlers there and couple to ship from our land) we should make it happen.

Oh.... I agree with Offa. Let's make little break for New Years celebration.
But after that we will have to accelerate our game a little. We are at the tail of this competition first time ever.
 
But that's what we wanted right? We didn't want to lead the pack this time. I agree with skipping MT, thats 4 turns we can save. I have to say I too abandoned COTM19, though probably much sooner than you guys did. I had my hands full handling a few invading forces (a very few) and just lost interest after that. I have been playing Civ4 a lot lately, still having trouble getting the hang of it. Still haven't played a game to completion yet.

Electricity researched: start the Corporation as it is easy at 4 turns.
Trondheim finishes factory and starts a bank: later switched to Adam Smith.

Attack Gergovia:
Vet knight redlines but kills a pike.
Vet knight dies v pike which relines then promotes to 2/4.
Vet knights dies attacking the 2/4 pike.
Vet knight kills longbow.
Elite knight (Metalhead) kills ¼ pike and captures the town.

Vet knight advances to fog and kills a vet knight outside Alesia (size 11, top defender a vet musket) capturing 2 workers.

New Bodo founded in Celtic lands.

There are a few expired Wonders there but also Bach and SunTze.

Birka finishes factory and starts Leo’s (due in 8 turns): this can be switched of course: it is up to 75 shields: and could pump knights every turn instead.

Basically I have continued to chisel away at the Celts, trying not to risk many troops. We have kept on 4 turn research but this will get tougher with pricier techs.

At some point (?after flight ?sooner) we need to start killing Indian defenders to free Gandhi some production to build a galley. I doubt if he will ever do it otherwise. In a vaguely similar position in my Sid game the Zulu never built a single galley as far as I can tell.

If they capture a city with improvemnts they haven't discovered yet will these automatically be lost: if so we need them to capture the Library early on.

Yes, that was brought up a while back (WOA I think). At the time Birka looked like a good city to do that in, but it has wonders now, so we need to figure out where we're going to put one and get it built up soon.
 
It has been 2 days... do we want to skip Gozpel?
