I was thinking, for all we know, America could be at war with a lot of people too. Maybe Abe won't hold the vote, and we'll be playing this game for another 100 turns... :rolleyes: Does the AI ever not hold the vote?
 
Plisken--to my knowledge, the AI never takes the vote unless it knows it can win. If America doesn't build the UN, then they'll win by space or culture.
 
I had a few games I let the AI build the UN as I knew that AI would never call for the vote as it was at war with everybody. But in these games I knew this. Here we do not know whether Abe had wars with the other ones, but anyway in our game it is very, very hard to stop Abe now. Whether he builds the UN or not.
 
Pre-turn – Do some MM and get an extra 2 gpt and shave 2 turns off the sip in…someplace…forget where now…oh well.
We’re at 29% land and 35% pop…there’s still time. <_< America’s no where near winning by Culture (36k out of 100k).

IBT – I see what you mean by teamwork, Dbear…Ankara is bombed and our sword army dies. Then the Vikings come in and capture it. :mad: It’s completely surrounded by our culture, though, so it’s easily retaken.

1430 (1) – Denizli musket->sip. Urfa musket->barracks. Found Iskenderun and get coal and furs. Start harbor. I take all units out of Ankara. If America’s going to keep bombing that city, no need to keep units in there to get killed.

IBT – Well, my plan didn’t work that great…Salonika is bombed now, destroying walls, 2 citizens, and injuring troops. Zulu ask for peace. Man, I’d love to, but the higher powers tell us we can’t. Sorry.

4 Guerillas and 2 Infantry are dropped off next to Ankara…

1435 (2) – Bursa musket->sip. I bomb the American stack with everything on the island, and only 2 trebs hit. :mad: 1 Sip is lost taking out the 2 infantry. Take 2 losses reducing the 4 guerillas to 4/5 and 2/4, but I’m out of Sips. Fortify with 5 muskets and 2 sips. They’ll be bombed first, so I’m just making sure there’s enough to defend.

IBT – The mountain that was just railroaded is bombed. -_- Mugla is the one that is attacked. One musket dies, but another wins. Just a redlined guerilla left from that stack. Then Persia lands 2 cavs between Ankara and Salonika.

1440 (3) - Kill all 3 units. Industry due next turn. I load the galleon with the army and prepare to land next turn.

IBT – Whoa! I just noticed the Americans founded Detroit in northern Zulu land. A tank kills a barb then moves south into fog. 2 Tanks are landed by Ankara and Mugla. A Persian cav is landed by Karabuk.
Industry in, start on Nationalism. Mobilization, drafting, police officers, and rifles of course will all come in handy.

1445 (4) – Istanbul market->bank. Calcutta worker->lib. Sinop galleon->galleon. Izmit sip->barracks. Antalya sip->market.
Redline both tanks and kill them, getting an Elite. Kill the tank in the fog then destroy Detroit and get 17 gold with the army. Kill the Persian cav.
Land the Sip army and hope for the best.

IBT – Ankara loses all defenders from bombings, thankfully no Vikings attacked. 2 Arab Cavs land next to the city, though.

1450 (5) – Amazingly, the army captures Baghdad, but is redlined. Unload 4 more sips in the city. There’s another galleon that hasn’t moved. The next person can use it for whatever he likes.

Perhaps we should try to capture Medina with the 4 Sips in Baghdad.

I suggest rushing the harbor in Riza to connect the furs to the mainland.
 
amazingly this game is still not over yet, maybe we can win by domination by trying to settle all the other land?

I agree with the path, nationalism and the espionage to steal techs.
 
Um, can we steal techs if we don't have embassies with them? :dubious:

And I agree. Start settling land like crazy. I switched one size 3 city in old Zulu land to settler on my last turn, I think. Maybe rush it after the harbor?
 
looks like settling is the only hope left for us. I'm sure we can conquer any civs who don't know rep. parts with sips, the toughest part would be defending all the captured land from american tanks. We should transport workers to new islands to build rails quickly, that'll help with the defense. There is no point in keeping units in cities, they'll get killed by bombers, i suggest keeping some cannons and sips in one spot on each island connected by rails to all cities.
BTW, if we eliminate all other civs except america we don't have to be afraid of the UN any more ;)

I did not play this turn. I just bombed the rifle in salonika.

We have only one fully healed sip to strike salonika, there is one rifle and two wounded cavs in it. The army is yellow and in Bursa. Should be taken out there, otherwise it will die on the next bombing run. I would try to take out the rifle with the sip and then even consider to attack the wounded cavs with the remaining muskets we have on our homeland. It looks quite bad now. ships are on the way to former India to get reinforcements from there.

- We get Nationalism and mobilize. Electricity next in 20. We don't want spies - our economy is set up for research, not stealing - we have libs and unis and no banks.

- There are no sips left on our home island :(. There were no landings there recently, so i decided to take this risk.
- Settler-of-war rushed in Cankiri (to allow sipahi transport in one turn)

- I see an american tank in the mountains near Tunceli, i bombard it, but cannot even scratch it. Sips are useless here, i'll try to bait the tank with workers.

- The bait doesn't work, the americans capture Tunceli

- Medina recaptured, one army is loaded to sail back to zululand, we need it to kill those tanks.
- American tank inside Tunceli bombarded and becomes yellow, i kill it with a sip and recapture Tunceli, see 2 more.
- I'll use empty Tunceli as a bait, the cannons standing just outside in the mountains (Tunceli renamed as Tanks Welcome).

- Bad news - persians kill our army in Mecca, we are down to one army now - that'll be difficult. I had many elite wins, but no leaders in my turns. They kill one more sip, we have 1 sip left in persia.
- Americans raze Tanks Welcome and kill one sip with the other tank, and they kill another one with bombers.
- They also destroy harbour in Riza - we loose spices - i scroll to prevent riots.

1525
- Kill american tanks with the army.
- attack persian cav with sip and loose. We can't hold arabian cities, so we abandon them.

Notes:
- We have lots of settlers being built, that'll help us claim new land quickly, build more settlers in corrupt cities.
- Try to keep units in large stacks - like that they won't be killed, just injured.
- If americans blow barracks in a city, rebuild it immidiately.
- Sips are effective against tanks and infs only in armies - next player must get us a leader or two ;)

This game is starting to get really fun: it would be a pity if the americans win by UN. If they don't get enough votes we may have a chance to get domination.
 
If anybody feels that this game is too much for him - he can ask for a skip - no problem with that.
 
I already mmed to get nationalism earlier. Hmm, obviously I still have to improve more on that :( . Sorry.
I just changed some builds from the previous player which would have taken much too long in my opinion.
So, we go with 10-turnsets again ?
 
As i said before you can play 10 or 5, whatever you feel like.
As for the MM - everything is simple - the northern part of zulu island is totally corrupt, and i turned about 1/2 of population there to scientists - that's the standard procedure of getting beakers in IA. You had some citizens working mountains and hills just to get 2 spt instead of 1.
The builds were changed to settlers, cause you cannot build them in the core and we need lots of settlers to get domination (we cannot even build temples, cause we're mobilized). Actually i always build only settlers and workers in corrupt areas. Productive cities build sips, the only effective unit against tanks that we can build.
Fighting when you are constanty bombed is really difficult, we loose many units, but with mobilization we seem to be buuilding new sips fast enough to recover from that.
I really think we can win if the americans don't win the UN vote.
BTW, does anybody remember america being at war with any other civ? We shoul keep any civs that fought against america alive.

I've never seen anyone attack anyone else besides us and barbs. :lol: Besides, there's another half of a map we haven't seen. Maybe all the battles are happening there. :rolleyes:

How many civs are left? Us, America, Persia, Vikings...is that it? We'll vote for us, America votes for themselves. How many votes would they need to win? 2 or 3? If they need Persia AND Vikings to vote for them, we have a good chance of them not winning the vote, I think.

There are 4 civs left: us, america, vikings and persia. To win the vote americans need 3 votes out 4, that means that if vikings or persians abstain, the game continues.
But i agree, even if it happens, it'd be very difficult to get domination before americans launch their ship.

Hmm, in that case, maybe we shouldn't take out any more civs. If there were 3 civs left, he'd only need 2 votes, which is actually easier.

Abe still has a lot to research before he can complete the spaceship. If we settle fast, we have a decent chance, I think.
