Well, I could not possibly read all posts in the Wacken and klarius threads but I browsed through the critical points there and might have a few conclusions.
1) FP location was wrong, it should have been way more up north. Some leader fishing could have helped to rush it or it was possible to still build is brick-by-brick.
2) Build around the capital should have been way less dense. It was rather critical in this game.
3) Excellent use of gifting cities, retaking them and demanding cities on AI landmasses for peace was a clue for expansion.
4) ICS in corrupt areas to maximize research during the Industrial Age was critical.
5) Early expansion and flawless running of settler factory was critical as well. This enabled war against China from a more favorable position.
6) Same turn when Flight/Advanced Flight were discovered, the corresponding units should have been ready for action.
Otherwise, we played a rather good game and finished only a handful of turns later than the winners.
