I just saw that Mehmed, great work! :goodjob:

We sure lived up to our avatar in our Sailors matchup! I'm also doing fairly well against madhi (2521). I'm up a pawn in the endgame (looks like he can win it back but then I can win it back again simplifying into an endgame.

We just need one more win to clinch the match (though the more the merrier of course). :D

Well we still have to win the "Chess Friends for Friends" match.

I did my part by beating DVJ (though I lost the first match) - game here. He lost on time. The game looked drawish to me even though he had the extra pawn (Rb2 is such an annoying permanent threat that his king can never stray too far). I played the opening very well but felt like I butchered the endgame, fortunately I still won it though in a way that feels a bit cheap (on time).

If you, Mehmed & luce (Genosse) all win both your games & anyone else gets even a draw in a remaining game we've clinched it. :)

Edit : looks like 39. ... Kd6? was a mistake. I overestimated the power of my advanced queenside pawn. Ke6 and white would have had nothing better but to repeat the position (and I probably would have won on time in any case :D).

Congrats azzaman333 for beating me once again (even if you took longer this time ;) )! Nice way to show me I can't underestimate any opponent. :)

My first game is in the bag (up a knight) and I'm confident about the next one.

But I'm having a hard time in my game against anirac (rematch) and an torturous game against lubof (Lit Match)

I was a little surprised by some of the moves you made.

6 Nc3 which let me trade a pawn for your knight.
13 Bg4 which let me take your bishop for free.
14 Qd3 which let me trade a bishop for your queen.
21 f4 which let me take your pawn for free, and put my pawn into a threatening position.
22 Re1 which let me put you in check and take your rook, eliminating all defense along the 1 row and get myself a second queen.

Those were all moves where you just gave up pieces.

I'm still hanging on in my Rematch game... but I think that I'm pretty out of position in some ways. I have a tendency to rush into attacks before getting all the support pieces in place - hoping to beat the opponent by a turn or two.

We'll see....

My lit match game against Anirac is going to take forever. Bird's opening and it's developing into a game of seeing how long it takes for one of us to commit to which side we'll castle on. It will be tough to do well in a full army middle game against a player 700+ points higher, in a completely unfamiliar opening position.

I'm up a pawn and think maybe I can hold it in the rematch game.

The 4 games that I am playing are looking solid to me, except for the ones against urithon and chitacoganee. :( I think I'm going to lose those matches.

I screwed up vs. Gato Negro & am in a knight vs. rook endgame. However, his pawns are a god awful mess & I may have drawing chances (if I start channeling Capablanca's endgame technique that is...).

Gato Negro game

In other news I'm clobbering elvert with some nice tactics! :D and am a pawn up in a middlegame vs. a national master. :D (albeit one who's playing 126 games at once)

Narz, I shall update my post with links for you! ;)

Minor news: I am working on a website at the moment. Will probably take most of my time, due to the fact that I am a rookie at HTML, PHP, and XML. ;) Of course, help is always welcome. (Site could contain a chess area...)

And the same for this game. The way to get better is to learn to see what moves lose material and avoid making them. Prractice, practice, practice.

Yeah, I agree with Panzar, tell us where you think you lost material &/or made more subtle mistakes & we'll comment from there.

If you try to analyze your game first & then we agree with you &/or point out stuff you missed you'll learn more, IMO.

I think I need to write 'em down as I play. I can't seem to analyze it from the notations alone.

You know you can go back over the moves of your already played games, right?

Just go back over your old games & try to remember what you were thinking when you made the moves you made & what you think of them now.
