You just couldn't resist

By the way, I have seen in other NESes people have links to each update from the first page. Would you like to do that? (not saying you should, I don't care either way)

Thats a little coincidental isn't it. That you recruited bunches of troops the turn that FARC got strong and threatend me enough that my circumstantial intervention orders took effect and i took the major cities, had threatening leaders eliminated and over all owned Colombia. And FYI, I'm Venezuala. And we can still peacfully unite South America, now thats its two major terrorist groups are out of the way.

I recruited troops for another project I was going to perform this turn, but after you invade a country right after I propose a peace-keeping force for, then I'm even higher sucspecious about you

We wish for the release of the US against who was on the trail of Bin Laden. We would also like your help in capturing Bin Laden even if it requires going into the tribal villages. The international community needs to stop these attacks once and for all. Bin Laden is responsible for the attacks in Afghanistan, USA, UK, France and many others. On behalf of the international community we ask for you to join us in these efforts to curb terrorism.

We will not allow foregin agents to tramp through our territory at will. Pakistan is a sovergin state and we will not allow these violations of our sovergnity to continue. Let it be known that any foregin agents in Pakistan will be liable for execution. The Pakistani ISI has already investiaged throughly and we assure you Bin Laden is nowhere in Pakistan. We consider it likley that he may be taking refuge in Afghanistan or another part of the Middle East. But he is most certianely not in Afghanistan.

We assure you we are not challenging your sovereignty. We like many countries want justice to be served to Bin Laden and his terrorist organization. However if you share that same goal you will release that agent for he might have to clue to were he is. We wish for you to help us in finding Bin Laden and to help fight the terrorist who has brought so much death to our lands and to our world. We need to take action and it must start with the co-operation between our two countries.

The agent has already been released. (See update). As we have stated before we will not allow foregin agents to roam around Pakistan.

Pakistan will carry out its own investigation with the ISI with regards to the whereabouts of Bin Laden, and if we find him, we ourselves will capture him and hand him over. However this will be a purely Pakistani operation without foregin interference. We hope you understand that.

Congradulations to Hillary Clinton (USA), Dmitry Medvedev (Russia) and John Agyekum Kuofor (UGT) on their elections.

Condolences to people of New York, London and Rome for the terrorist attacks. Turkey reasserts its support in the war on terrorism.

Condolences to people of Los Angeles. As a nation with tens of thousands of casualties to earthquakes in the past, we fully empathize with your suffering. Please feel free to ask us if you need extra rescue or medical personnel.

Condolences to people of Cuba for the loss of their leader.

We hope the property transfers in Cyprus and other aspects of unification will continue smoothly. As previously promised, Turkish peace force will be slowly (but entirely) removed throughout 2009.
Spoiler last year's statement :
to Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and Republic of Cyprus
(ooc: Turkey hasn't said "Republic of Cyprus" in an official document in 3 decades)
We advise that you see the return of property on both sides to have a potentially problematic implementation. Many of the property to be returned is currently occupied. We offer:
1- Some Turkish troops remain, to help police such transfers. Violence is bound to happen in arguements between old and new owners of property. Or if UN troops remain during this period, that's fine too.
2- Start of construction of housing for people who will be removed from their property within this framework. As a large country with growing population, we have a very active construction industry. We offer the services of Turkish construction firms to provide necessary manpower and equipment. We wonder if the EU can provide the funding for such a wide-scale construction project.(ooc: I guess this would be about 10000 apartment buildings, which would cost a few billion $, which is 1ep ~ G$6-7)
3- Removal of remaining Turkish troops (that you may need as of item 1) at the end of this period of property transfer and construction, which we predict will be about the end of 2009. (All heavy military equipment is being removed as we speak. All infantry not needed by item 1 will begin to move out after your reply to this)
4- At that time, official recognition, start of trade and diplomatic relations between our government and Cyprus, once these difficulties are overcome and the unification is somewhat integrated.
5- From 1/1/2010, our embassy to TRNC function as our embassy to the entire island and unified country.

We condemn Venezuela's invasion of its sovereign neighbor.

We condemn France's aspirations of resembling Nazi administration of ww2.

We condemn China's suppression of democracy by force.

We condemn North Korea's pursuit of nuclear weaponry.

We condemn Iran's pursuit of nuclear waponry as much as we condemn several other countries for having nuclear weapons. However, just as other counries possessing nuclear weapons does not prevent Turkey from having good relations with them, Turkey will maintain its relations with (so far unbelligerent) Iran. There are far more belligerent countries than Iran in the world. Our position will change drastically if any nuclear weapon leaves Iran, be it on the tip of a missile or in the back of a terrorist's truck.

We warn friendly nation of Pakistan that NATO's intentions are not contradictory to their sovereignity over their country. However we understand and respect your concerns over independence. But you must understand that the anti-terrorism warfare is already difficult in Afghanistan, without the terrorists fleeing into Pakistan, namely into the territories of the local warlords with whom your government have treaties. If your military is strong enough to enforce security in these border regions, then we recommend you do so; if it is not strong enough, then we recommend you accept foreign military assistance. In either case, Turkey remains a friend of Pakistan.

There is decades of blood on both Israel and Palestine's hands.

Israel, you can't repeatedly occupy neighboring territories (Egypt, Syria, West Bank, Gaza, Lebanon) and expect not to be hated by all your neighbors. We advise you to revert to diplomacy on equal footing, rather than playing righteous victims

Palestine, ok, some of your land was confiscated after ww2, but since then these people were born there, had children, and grandchildren. In our time it is their home too, and you can't change this. You will never achieve anything if you don't acknowledge their right to exist. It is a government's duty to prevent its citizens from doing harm, just as the duty of protecting its citizens from harm.

We advise both of you to lower your weapons and go back to diplomacy, through which both sides give some compromises and agree on a single border under the light of today's circumstances - not 60 years ago, not 3200 years ago.

(ooc: that felt like parently talk to kids fighting on the backseat :))

The agent captured in Northern Iraq was there for observation missions only. He was specifically observing the increasing PKK terrorist activity, as well as assessing the danger of the religious civil war in the south spreading to the north. We can supply a detailed mission briefing to the Iraqi government if needed. Please refrain from harming him. We'll appreciate if you expel him to Turkey immediately.

We sincerely hope this will not adversely effect the trade between Northern Iraq and Turkey, which has been flourishing since 2004. Private Turkish firms will continue to invest in businesses in Northern Iraq, and Turkish private air carriers will continue their flights to Arbil and Suleymaniye.

Pakistan is a sovereign nation and their independence should be respected by all. We are appauled by America's violation of Pakistan's borders. Pakistan has done nothing but help the fight against terror and has searched thoroughly in its borders for any signs of Bin Laden. However we hope that Pakistan will not go to war or engage in any other acts of aggresion. We are glad that they have pursued peacefull means instead of aggresion and India thinks this shows once and for all that Pakistan should be trusted

-More HPPs were completed and operational.

State Transportation Projects
link to maps
-Construction of high-speed rail line Bilecik-Bursa-Izmir started.
-Construction of high-speed rail line Ankara-Konya is completed.
-First Turkish produced high-speed trains start running between Istanbul and Ankara.

-Construction of three suspension bridges started. Canakkale Bridge (1500m span) crosses Dardanelles Strait, creating an alternate route for intercontinental travel; and it will also help the congestion on ANZAC celebrations. Ataturk Bridge (1500m) will be the third bridge in Istanbul, farther north of the previous bridges - close to the newly developing financial district; it will eventually be a part of an expressway that lets bypassing traffic avoid the two main arteries of the city. Izmit Bridge (2700m) spans the Izmit Bay, shortening the land route from Istanbul to western Turkey by 80km.
-Construction of expressway to link Ankara to the southern expressways started. When complete, this will establish an uninterrupted expressway link from Europe to Middle East.

Subways

-Extension of subway networks of Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir and Adana continue.
-Bursa's extension is complete for now.
-Subway construction begins in Gaziantep.

Private projects

-Construction of Diamond of Istanbul and Sapphire completed in Istanbul.
-But Diamond won't hold the title of the tallest building in Turkey, as Dubai Towers continue to rise in the horizon.

-Construction of Paramount’s new theme park - now named Wonderland - is close to completion in Ankara.

Greater Municipality of Ankara

-Conversion of major signaled intersections in Ankara into unsignaled overpass-underpass type complete.
-The municipality of Ankara is doing public works around the theme park construction site, and some hotel buildings are already getting built in the area.
-Construction of Yildirim Beyazid Stadium (50k capacity) began in Ankara.

Development Projects

-Within the framework of the Twelve-year Mandatory Education Project, high schools are being built in several rural areas.
-Within the framework of Anatolian Development Project, numerous local small construction projects were pursued to improve the industry/infrastructure/agriculture/mining/fishing/tourism depending on the local need. ADP also encompasses what was left to implement from Southeast Anatolia Project, and extrapolates it to other parts of Anatolia. ADP targets Central and Eastern Turkey, but focuses more on the east. It should be noted that some of the funding to the southeastern provinces was held back this year due to terrorism, to be compensated in 2009 and 2010 after the anti-terrorism campaign and martial law settles down.

PRESIDENTIAL PRESS RELEASE

ON IRAQ
The United States has begun to set forward the motion to begin lowering troop levels in Iraq. The President has specified that this will not be an immediate or sudden withdrawl, nor does it have any official time table. As the President has spoken on numerous occasiosn during the campiang the pressure must be on the Iraqis to take charge and led with the United States as a supporting figure.

ON AFGHANISTAN
On the contrary the President has spoken of increasing troop levels in Afghanistan. "We must remember who and why we are fighting. Afghanistan will not be allowed to return to the control of al-quida and their Taliban supporters." It's expected that the forces being removed from Iraq will be relocated to Afghanistan.

ON COLOMBIA
The invasion of Colombia and it's conquest by Venezuela is not deemed legal by the United States. Aggression on this magnitude will not be tolerated. As such the United States is enacting an embargo on all Venezuelan goods effective immediatly. More drastic measures may be taken in the future.

ON DARFUR
President Clinton is prepared to make a more activie role in Darfur. As in her campaign, she calls for America to begin "at least a limited role in logistics, communication and transportation in Darfur." The president is prepared to offer food, funding, and low-level military support in Darfur. Of course it will require the permission of the AU, UN, and Sudanese government.

ON KYOTO PROTOCOL
The President has urged that she is prepared to sign onto the Kyoto protocol and bring America into the global field environmental protection. To help lead the way the President has already offered the position of Administrator of the EPA to former vice president Al Gore, now a renowned environmentalist.

OOC: God your good... just the sort of stuff America would say 'The invasion of Colombia and it's conquest by Venezuela is not deemed legal by the United States' and yet ignoring their 'legal' war. Good to have you.

From the United States:

We regret the case of the CIA agent found in your lands. We seek to further promote friendship and unity, and not work behind eachother's backs. You will see how my foreign policies will differ greatly from the previous administration. I apologize on behalf of the American government, and promise this will never happen again.

We ask that the Pakistani government turn over Michael Howard into US custody while we launch an investigation into the matter.

On the otherhand the lack of security for our diplomatic envoys proves very troublesome. Is Pakistan capable of providing adequate defense, or will we be forced to remove our diplomatic envoys entirely in order to avoid another 1979 incident?

To India
From US:

Pakistan's independence and sovreignty will not be infringed upon in the future. The actions of the past administration is a taint on our history that hopefulyl will be rectified.

To Cuba
From USA

Although we do not mourn the passing of your brother Fidel, we note that it does mark an end of an era for your country. We would also like to note that the United States is willing to lift the embargo that has been placed against your nation for decades.

Juncker Announces he won't Pursue Reelection

LUXEMBOURG CITY: In his first address of 2009, Prime Minister Jean-Claude Juncker announced that he would not seek reelection later this year. "In my three terms as Prime Minister", he said, "I led Luxembourg to the best of my abilities, and I believe few will find the results lacking."

Juncker's withdrawal from the race throws the race for Prime Minister wide open in the upcoming Legislative elections. Voters are still widely expected to give the ruling CSV party the most seats, but there is no presumptive successor to Juncker. Juncker refused to clear up the confusion, stating that "after serving out the remainder of my term, I will work tirelessly towards a unified Europe. I have done my duty to Luxembourg, and now hope to pursue an even greater one." He then refused to endorse any particular candidate.

Within the CSV, possible PM candidates include François Biltgen, the current CSV president, and Lucien Weiler, the President of the Chamber of Deputies. Candidates from the LSAP, the minor coalition partner with the CSV, include Jean Asselborn, the Deputy Prime Minister, and Ben Fayot, the former LSAP President. Long-shot candidates include François Bausch of the Greens, Claude Meisch of the DP, and Gaston Gibéryen, a member of the eurosceptic and fast-fading ADR.

The Luxembourg Globe will continue to monitor the elections until the June 14th election.
