Since the Keith Richards story was posted, I thought I'd add a story that tops that one...

German mother and daughter row over diamond-to-ashes plan Tue Mar 27, 11:05 PM ET

BERLIN (AFP) - A German court was asked to decide on Tuesday in the case of a family divided over whether a dead man's ashes should be transformed into a diamond.

The woman claims that her father told her before his death from cancer last year that he wanted to be immortalized as a diamond.
But the man's wife disputes her daughter's claim, saying he had wanted the urn of his ashes to be buried in a cemetery.
The court in the southwestern city of Wiesbaden is expected to give its ruling next Tuesday.

In the process, the ashes are subjected to intense heat to produce graphite which is then pressed to produce a raw crystal that is then polished and cut into a synthetic diamond.

What do you all think about this?

These are truly exciting times in the wonderful world of corpse disposal.

I saw a story a couple of years ago about a widow who wore her dead husband as a blue solitaire on her right hand. Kind of sweet, I guess.

IIRC the final rule was that the daughter coulnd't prove beyond doubt that her father actually wanted to be turned into a diamond, and thus rejected her plight . it's a crazy world when people start fighting over corpses :ack:

I prefer to have my body eaten.

Growing strong only to pass through another digestive tract. Sounds like a harsh eternity.

Although, I guess if soul is stuck to flesh I would be forever confined to a crystal prison.
