Should we forbid people to run marathons and make journeys to the north-pole. After all it is bad for your body and an outrage on your health (at least for most white people), an argument used to forbid hard-drugs.

I personally think we should ban anything that might harm something.

Explain how running marathons is bad for your health? All this time, I was under the impression that those people were in good shape. Silly me!

They say any kind of running is bad for your health.

Breathing should be banned as well since the environment and air we breathe is polluted. ;)

breathing is nessecary, running the 42 km and trips to the north-pole (except for science) NOT.

Marathons should be banned because of road blockage. I hate that.

But, they are a nice goal for fat people looking to get into shape.

How is running bad for your health? If you are wearing bad shoes, your joints could be hurt, but otherwise it is fine.

Yes we should. I'm horribly ill right now due to second hand running. And why else would someone run to the northpole but to beat their wives and kids?

Actually oxygen should be banned, it's a dangerous and highly reactive chemical    !

Life is 100% fatal, it should be banned. :p I don't know of anyone that has lived through it yet, some people succumbing after over a century of struggling with it.

Life always ends in death. Therefore, if there is no life, there is no death. So, in order to avoid the negative consequences of death, I do believe that we need to outlaw life. It is for the good of everyone involved.

I wonder what aliens would think if they saw marathoners.

"Gah, look at these pathetic humans! Wait a second, where the hell are they going?"

I think Ultraworld is right that marathon running has been demonstrated to be unhealthy. So perhaps it should be discouraged. But banned? Nah, it's not harming anyone else. As for hard-drugs, I also don't think they should be banned when used in such a way that they harm no one else, but the truth is they often harm others.

Funny IglooDude! Great minds think alike at the same time!

So does booze, but nobody is calling for abolition anymore.

"Discouraged"?

Not to be pedantic, but the hard-drugs don't harm others, the users do. Let's stop blaming inanimate objects and substances for consequences for which people should be held responsible.

of course it is serious. Drugs policy is always serious
You can hardly compare the harmful effects of hard drugs to running a marathon. For one thing, marathons aren't addictive.
