That does not make them worthy of endless torture, only unworthy of continued existence.

It's a matter of opinion.

Since I don't believe that hell really exists, they should be safe from endless torture, even though I think it's what they deserve.

Yes but what if hell is real and by thinking people deserve to be sent to hell for eternity you are making them suffer 14 billion years of burning and screaming - don't you think that's a bit harsh
