Continents sounds good. We could play as Iroquis and try to take continent only with MW's. ...
After successful finishing "Sid variant" we decided to play plain Sid with “avarage” start. We will play Iroquois and only what I guarantee is Horses within City radius and some fresh water nearby. We play Continents, 70% water, Normal climate, and age, avarage barbarians. Aggression is normal, large map. Opponents are French, Russian, Spain, English, Americans, Romans, Greeks, Germans, Babylonians, Celts, Egypt.
4000 BC save below, but you may offer another one.
Roster:
Ignas
I. Larkin,
TheRat,
_open,

I understand the concept, but why have barbs? They will be good for the AI only and help the race through the AA?

Maybe it is better to have no barbs and no AI's starting with alphabet to make AA trading easier? If not can anyone post a screenshot as I can't access civ for a few days?

I would love to play, but i am underlevel

Here is start with Japan (instead of America) nearby, few steps east. I removed barbarians, but did not manipulate Alpha AIs. Hope we will manage.
Let's wait when TheRat reply.

I love Hiawahta, but I wonder if it will hurt to not have cheap barracks. Just depends on how soon you have contacts and get into scraps. Not have spears to start could be an issue, if you have early contacts.

I would doubt you have much of a shot at Philo. The quite contacts between AI's and someone starting with Alpha is usually too strong. You could still get the GLB, but it will be hard. I sometimes get it as long as the AI does not get Lit.

Vmxa, Ignas' idea was different: trade wheel and play 50 turn HBR gambit. But looks that nobody want try. May be you want to participate?

If we won't get attacked in first 80 turns we should do ok. If AI attacks early we are probably lost whether we have spears or not. Tech pace will be fast, should we consider building GLib? Also finding other continent is a priority.

We need wheel and warrior code to start researching HBR, so we will need to trade or research WC also.

I don't know will it work out but it worked very well on playnig smaller maps on SID. We migh fall in techs or etc. You know MW is very powerful even against pikes. The question is how fast can we get needed amount of MW's to take on first victim and how many are needed. 30?40?200?

BTW starting location doesn't look very good without a food bonus. Or there is some in the fog?

regardless of all other things like techs, a start without a food bonus on sid will be murderous....

I think we might want to expand as much as we can and hope nobody attacks us. Have you guys read the game of the 7 magnificent guys? They captured the GLib city later with jumbos...fun to read

If we want to have many MW's and get them fast it should be between growth and production:

Capital with food bonus could be 4turn settler/2turn worker factory. Other low corruption and good shield towns should get their tiles improved fast and build barracks and cheap chariots for upgraing after we get HBR. By doing this i think we could get 20-30 MW's around 1000BC. GA will speed up MW production.

The concern is that we might be in tech hole as everything will be into military early on and by the time we get HBR we won't have monopoly on it I guess so no trading value. It will be a while we will get a better government. Also getting GLib is doubtful as it will take a while to get Literature

I am stuck with 5 more weeks of classes at work that start early for me and I am in daze when I get home.

I played 8 turns and manage to trade the wheel. Also it is 2 Cows nerby. Question is who will take it first we or Japan? What do you think about idea if I play some more and then we decide will we continue or try better start? Will we do as trio or will wait for more?

Currently the C3C SG section is pretty quiet, it doubt we can find many more players...maybe we start with 3 of us for now...

Play a while more and try and see what is happening

Since Ku1 is coming to an end, I'm without SG, so I'd like to join this one. I've never even tried Sid, but I think I can hold my own.
You played AWD pangea that is more difficult. Lets continue this one with four of us but keep roster open. So far it is:
I.Larkin Just played
TheRat Up
Ignas On deck
Mumpulus warming up.

Or you can swap if wish.
Will write TL soon, but lets discuss situation: I think main priority is to secure red dot for next City.

Larkin invited me along, just slip me in somewhere and I'll play.

I agree on red dot.

I'm a bit confused on the settler pair dance though. If I retrace the movement you describe, I end up deep in the fog... I think it may be helpful for ThERat to know the movement you used to keep the pair dancing. If the Japanese take that spot, we'll be stuck with much less appealing lands.

I fear a second settler pair may already be underway. I'd get the next settler out asap.

Writing always difficult. Trajectories looks like this:

Also think that second settler may be better then worker. But Salamanka may produce warriors that help to block japanise expansion.
