Sid Game Progress Sharing?

I like it!
Let's post it in the SG forum and we can discuss there.

I was thinking Byz too. The dromon would allow for pillaging for the "bikini babe trick" and mess with the sea lanes!!

nerovats- I am trading with the Maya so they have an incentive not to attack me.

I have been attacked by civs that we´re polite to me, I was paying gpt and had a RoP with. Especially on high levels.

Did you have a resource which they didn't? Did you settle aggressively?

Also, you should have gpt deals going both ways. And sign Alliances against other civs.

One question about the UN and nukes:

I saw in scouting sid they nuked the UN city, took it, then won unanimous (except other candidate). Why is this? Doesn't the nuke make civs want to declare war on you, and at least not vote?

It's the first civ who uses nuke makes all the other world unhappy. In scouting sid, Turkey nuked the players Dutch, then it losts credit, and every one can now use nuke freely without rep hit.

Really? Cool! If I see the Maya have built a nuke, I'll ally them against the Celts so they'll use it against them.

I don't know whether it will work ... I guess that AI will use nuke if it is losing a war, but your dear Maya probably will happily achieve domination victory if you invite them into a war ...

No, the Celts are across water, and the AI sucks at launching sea assaults. The most they'll unload will be 10 dudes, no match for the hundreds, probably 1000s of tanks/MA the Celts have.

In a recent sid try as Sumeria, France and I were fighting the Zulus. France needs to go across water, certainly so because it's an arch map. At some point I see 5 or so French caravels drop a stack of sword, pike, ancient cavalry (lovely!), and they indeed do a good favor to me by fighting bravely to death (not like me, always treb bomb before attack). I'm a bit astonished that even in middle age AI could launch such a nice oversea attack :)

I'm still amazed at moonsinger doing this without seafaring nor alpha starting with.
Its not that hard really once you get some practice... eventually when you want fast wins you will actually make sure as many AIs as possible is scientific civs so they get free techs and cheaper libs to speed them up.. and you add barb huts to game just so they AIs can pop techs from huts and advance faster.
I also found that building GLib to get techs from that will slow you down too.. much better stay near the tech leader by buying techs from the AIs for gpt and luxes so they can research faster :P

Yeah, I realized that I don't need the GL after one of these attempts. I'm puzzled how moonsinger beat two civs to writing in her 81k, when she didn't start with alpha. I'm starting with alpha and imediatly start min on writing, and don't beat anyone to it. Is the difference the huge map more expensive techs and more isolation? She also couldn't contact until turn fifty.

Status techwise at 1830BC-
I'm ahead of...
Greece by pottery, math, writing (and map making), horseback riding, and poly
Suermia by map making and math
China by writing, math, horseback riding, and poly
Mongols by masonry, map making, poly
Persia by poly
Russia by map making and poly
Korea by map making and poly

Note that any civ I'm ahead of by writing I'm also ahead by map making.

On a Huge map, the AI will need 50 turns to research Writing, just like you. But they'll research some other techs before, so you with min research still stand a good chance of monopoly.

Normally I play on Regent to monarch, but after doing so well in my last Monarch game, I decided to start a Arch 70% Demigod game with the Carthaginians.

I figured since most of you play sid, what do I need to watch out for later on? And can you give me some tips on how to play the arch map better, this is my first time ever playing an Archipelago map, usually I play pangaea or continents.

Im in the lead for techs, Ive made contact with everyone I think. Im just about to go into the middle ages.

Does it get harder, or can you give me a few tips on what the AI will do or such. This is my first time ever playing above Monarch, and I just skipped past emperor. I'm doing pretty darn good, but I don't want them to just come out and start pounding on me.

Thanks
