NIGHT FOUR
It was an unexpectedly quiet night in Springfield, though citizens were not confident that meant well at this point, knowing more attacks could occur another time. Still, those who slept safely were thankful for it.
However, despite the lack of attacks, that doesn't mean other events couldn't have been going on. One happening would be apparent to the town in the morning, though it wasn't caught by Springfield's police during the night.
A man had snuck onto a laundry truck headed for the prison and waited until the dead of night.
landlubber was not all too happy in the evening since he was arrested. He thought to himself that he shouldn't be here and knew he had things he'd rather be doing, but wasn't sure what could be done about it. It was definitely a surprise when he was woken up by the man who found his way to landlubber's cell.
The attempt to pick the lock was unsuccessful at first, but then inspiration struck.
"That's right, a little known fact about Springfield jail cells is that usually have one fake bar for emergencies." Even landlubber had to laugh nervously at the flaw, something that Springfield clearly does differently from elsewhere in the world.
After breaking down one bar and making enough space for landlubber to squeeze through, they were off.
"You're...helping me?"
"Duh"
"And... this isn't about the beatings, or the glaven, or the stealing of the lunch money, na-hey!"
"No, you just seemed like you could be another dude who doesn't care for these piggies, and we're getting you out of this joint."

Although the news from the night would be interesting, there was also lots of activity for all of the citizens to face in the day ahead.
Facing a special recall election,
Mayor Quimby was quite comfortable with his widespread support or perhaps a propaganda machine that made him so beloved among the citizens.
After citizens in an open forum could only suggest one man, the same, familiar mayor, for the job, there was just the chance of an upset candidacy.
However, Springfield's Republican party only released an official statement complaining about poor donor support and lack of a charasmatic candidate, with no real ticket to offer.
Thus, to the surprise and disappointment of some, the election was entirely uncontested. The citizens were sure to support
askthepizzaguy in droves, so he would
reelected as mayor.
Of course, a result like this wasn't enough on its own to discourage various citizens from using obscure legalese and opportunities available in this time of emergency to make headway on their pet issues. Today, some citizens wanted to protest Springfield's annual Whacking Day celebrations, citing animal cruelty among other reasons. Whether or not
Whacking Day would be banned would be put up to a vote.
Also, the release of a new
Bonestorm videogame had excited numerous Springfield children and even many enthusiastic adults were eager to try it out. Someone had donated a copy to a raffle and one citizen would receive it.
Lastly, the morning started off with another message from the hospital. Elderly
Mr. Burns had something to rant about to the town and he would use his resources to make it happen:
"I'm afraid I'm still waiting here under the care of the
best medical services this town has to offer. I just can't shake the feeling that you simpletons yearn for a man of status like me to lead you. It's true, I have all I could want and continue to sit out on the sidelines, and none of you will ever have the wealth or power that I do. I certainly have nothing to do with those troglodytic hooligans attacking you and traumatizing your families. Still, if some of you could help me return with the respect I deserve as the town's richest man maybe I can make it worth your while."
The town, of course, also was left with the pressing matter of finding the real culprits hiding in their midst and stopping them before they could cause more harm.
