I do not have this problem on any other forums or sites.

When I try to load the forums I literally have a 2min load time. This is true for each thread and each subforum.

Since this only occurs on this site I have no idea what info you need other than I run IE.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

As much as IE is poo. He shouldn't be getting problems really...

Problem located.

If this were indeed the problem then it would actually be the sites problem and everyone who uses IE would be affected.

Now since this isnt the case we need to move on.

On a side note, I have no problems viewing anything else and I dont have no problems keeping my computer secure. That means there is no reason to switch to moozilpoo or firepoo or any of the other poos.

Thanks for the non help.

I do enjoy this site so if anyone has some real help ill reply with any pertinet info you may need.

Thanks

I'm serious. I've had problems with this site on IE that have disappeared when I use other browsers.

I agree his first post wasn't too helpful, but there's merit in the idea of trying it w/ an alternate browser just to see if the issue is going to be related to the browser or something else on your box.

Well if that is true then this site I will not use. I dont tend to like biased sites

I hate change more than I like this site.

If anyone has any other possibilites why just one site has issues plz feel free to post, otherwise I appreciate the help.

Why don't you just change browsers? It would take 5 - 10 minutes at the absolute most to download and install Firefox or Chrome.

That's enough badgering him about his browser. For whatever reason he's using IE, and that's his choice.

I'd clear your cache/temp internet files and clean your cookies.

It's probably not the browser. CFC is just slow if you have a slow or congested ISP. More so than most places. Slowdowns seem to be cumulative.

I'm not saying he SHOULD change browsers, merely suggesting that it would help him w/ diagnosis to check an alternate browser. I doubt its the browser also, but no harm in checking this.

But yeah a cache/cookie cleanse will hopefully do it. :) Maybe if that doesn't help then try an alt browser simply to see if you get different performance.

If this site is just slower than most I can accept that.

Ive no idea if my ISP is congested as this is the only site with problem. I browse other gaming sites such as sorcerers place and even 2k forums from time to time with no slow downs.

I have cleared the temp files ect as suggested no increase in speed.

I can deal with the slowdown as I just use the "open in another tab" option for every post I want to browse at once so that I can read while waiting the 2min for it to load :crazyeye: .

Any other options?

Oh my ISP is time warner cable and computer specs are way over recomended to play civ v at max settings if that helps.

Also is there another place I can check to see if its isp congestion?

Thank you all.

You could try this http://www.speedtest.net/ ISP speed test. And take it at varying times of the day. When you notice slowdowns, and when you feel things are running well. And if you get different results, then likely your internet connection is suffering congestion.

There are a variety of testing sites you can try to use for benchmarks.

http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/

http://reviews.cnet.com/internet-speed-test/

http://www.dslreports.com/stest

http://performance.toast.net/

But while your ISP might suffer congestion slowdowns, and this is pretty common, particularly in high traffic times of day, such as the 5PM - 8PM time slot, it is also true that CFC suffers congestion slowdowns during like times also. So for example, near the bottom of the main forum page it says: Currently Active Users: 1140 (207 members and 933 guests). If that number exceeds ~1600, CFC will probably be slower. If it hits 2000, it will likely be notably very slow. And if it hits 2400, there's a good chance you won't connect at all.

@Novare - Open a command prompt and enter the command

ping forums.civfanatics.com

Note what is shown as the time in the output. Now ping some other site for which you have a reliable connection. Is the time significantly lower?

Time of day doesnt effect the delay at all. 2min load times at 2am and 7pm and everything in between.

Ill note more ping times in another post but right now its 53ms and I have the delay.

Speed test I have done before but will post more results later currently no problems 1mb download 300kbs upload and 67ish ping time.

Active users 1324 as well.

Your ping time is less than mine (~90ms) and I don't have a problem like yours. What happens if, instead of going to forums.civfanatics.com, you enter the IP address (as shown in the ping output) into your browser?

Takes just as long with the numerical address as with the wordy one

Another suggestion: Run IE with no add-ons. In Windows 7, go Start --> All Programs --> Accessories --> System Tools --> Internet Explorer (no Add-ons). Should be something similar in other versions of Windows. Does that help?

No addons.

Ping time stays between 40 to 90 ms.

Speed test stays same.

Guessing the site just doesnt like me hehe.

Thanks all.
